No praying, we live in a modern world where science and knowledge has made witchcraft obsoleted.
She will be fine, thats why everyone get scanned as a rutine in Sweden so people don't go with cancer for years untill it has spread.

To see Floor perform this song in person is Majestic....I'm 78, my wife is 77, she said after going to her first metal concert, I would never have believed the music and the band could this good....As for Floor, she said the best performer, singer I've ever heard....

      It was Mesmerizing.

I'm a 73 year old lifelong musician who started on classical piano, taught myself guitar, and played professionally, mostly in Greenwich village for over 21 years. What makes Floor so remarkable (aside from her gorgeous, incredible voice, her incredible stage presence, and her ability to reach inside you emotionally), she studied Opera, musical theatre, and rock singing, and realized that the different techniques she studied can all be used to express what she is trying to express in her performance. She actually changes the vocal technique she uses instantly, within a song, to best express herself to the listener. I've never heard anyone else do that. Plus, she's so good, and does each so well that you can miss it if you're not listening closely. I always found it puzzling why almost every Opera singers I've ever heard sounds weird/ uncomfortable singing other genres, no matter how great they may be, but now I understand. They sing everything using the classical technique. It just doesn't work with other genres. Floor figured that out, and it makes her so much more effective when she performs, because she does them all so well. Please recover from the breast cancer soon, completely. We, and your loved ones need you well.

I cannot see the reaction on UA-cam yet. But, I was just wandering if you knew that this song is a tribute to American Nasa planetary scientist Eugene Shoemaker. He studied asteroids impacts on earth and other planets. He joined the astronaut program in order to go on a moon landing, he was so disappointed when he was disqualified and dropped from the astronaut program due to finding out he had Atkinson's. Because of all his contributions to the field he had an asteroid impact crater on the moon named after him. He died in a car crash while traveling to study an impact crater in the remote outback of Australia (or was it New Zealand). Nasa decided to honor him by finally sending him to the moon. They gathered some of his ashes in a small ern and put it aboard a satellite that was to be crashed into the moon. Yes, you guessed it, on the southern hemisphere of the moon into the Shoemaker crater. To date he is the first and only human to have their remains buried on a celestial object in space other than the earth. The quotes in the song... That was a quote from Romeo and Juliet that his wife had engraved on the earn that carried his ashes to the moon. I just think the inspiration to Tuomas for this song just adds another level.

A little back story about Shoemaker, he was an astrophysicist that discovered long side Levy as an asteroid, which eventually collided against Jupiter some years ago in the 1990s, his wish for when he died was to have his ashes buried on the moon. His wish was granted after his passing and the lunar orbiter deposited his remains there.

This was the very first Nightwish song I ever heard 2+ years ago and I was hooked. In my 70’s discovering a new band was a surprise to me. Happening in the middle of the isolation of the pandemic it was easy to be come obsessed with the rabbit hole. Scifi and space were the hook but the quality of everything about this band blew me away. Thanks for a great review.

The Shakespeare quote was read by Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas' wife. She also lends her vocals to Auri, a side project with Tuomas and Troy Donockley. I suggest "Night 13", "Pearl Diving", or "Desert Flower"

I'm glad you decided to explore the Nightwish catalog, I'm sure you'll discover in time many of the real diamonds and pearls composed and performed in a quarter of a century dedicated to music, from all eras of the band. The list I promote contains links to good quality audio-video recordings of their most popular songs - but it is far from covering the entire repertoire of more than 100 songs.
Returning to "Shoemaker" - it is part of their latest studio album, "Human :||: Nature", released in April 2020, right at the beginning of the pandemic. For this reason, for 2 years we listened to most of the songs in the studio version and that's it, just imagining what impact they will have in live performance. Surprisingly for me, this song found a special place in this year's live concerts, being one of the audience's favorites. You can see this in all recent professional YT recordings: Pinkpop, Hellfest, Deichbrand.

Don't worry, I think most of us listen to that last part with our mouths hanging open, too! Elizabeth Zharof of Charismatic Voice has a name for this range of operatic singing. It hovers between two comfortable ranges in a delicate balance of sound that requires true mastery. I've heard it before in really old movies, but with Floor on a proper mic, it's a freaking teleporter to heaven!

  • @littleraven28

You're spot on Tuomas writes his music from the need to tell a story. He needs a story he feels eager to tell and then writes the music and lyrics to it. The cadence of singing is like verses of Shakespeare, from which the line "cut in little stars" originally comes. Eugene Shoemaker ashes was literally divided in order to bury him on the moon as a tribute cause he never got to go there himself due to health issues. And yes it was Floor in the end. I saw her do this live and it was amazing.

The singer is Troy Donocley, he's also multi-instrumentalist:
Troy can play : Uilleann pipes - which used in here. Tin whistle, vocals, guitar (Fylde Oberon), keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone...
And is also a punster, LOL
In an interview he was asked "Is there anything else you wish to learn to play (if anything)?"
    Troy:"Ice Hockey!!"

Although Floor stated that she is not opera singer, the scary thing is, that Floor studied Opera like a year to sound like this...
I love this Album version , but LIVE version at Hellfest and my own Live experience of that song cannot be compared!
And yes, this song is about Eugene Shoemaker!
The spoken word in this song is Tuomas Holopainen's Wife Johanna Kurkela!
The harmonies are with Troy Donockley "The Bard" (is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone).
    Plus:
"Shoemaker" has become a favorite song of NASA's scientific community. Tuomas has a deep inclination towards science and this is reflected in many of his plays. This ensured the entry of Nightwish into the history books of science, several discoveries in the field being named after them. These new discoveries include: Alpenglow Rockshelter: Archaeological site named after Nightwish Song. Tanidromites Nightwishorun: New Crab species. Sciophila Holopaineni: New species of Mosquito found in Finland. Ophiomitrella Floorae: New species of Cretaceous brittle star named after Floor Jansen. Tmesisternus floorjansenae: new species of beetle named after Floor.
    AND the most important !!!!
Good vibes and thoughts to our Goddess in recovery 🥰!!!!
    NWSU 🤘😎🤘.

A remarkable tribute to an amazing scientist. I get puddled eyes with the line "cut into little stars," for Eugene Shoemaker was cremated, or in my mind ... cut into little stars ... and sent to the moon. Tuomas finds a way to reach into your chest and touch your heart in his every composition. Floor has given him the ability to write so far beyond other artists, and he knows how to use the colors she offers from her color pallet, and all he does is create masterpieces. Don't worry, Rosalie, we're all sitting there with our mouths agape as well. Nice reaction!

The Romeo & Juliet poem was carved into the urn carrying Shoemaker's ashes which was dopped on the Moon......

Its a requiem to Shoemaker , Shoemaker is the only human which ashes are burried on the moon . He was brought there in 1998 by a Lunar Spacecraft
Around the capsule is wrapped a piece of brass foil inscribed with an image of a Comet Hale-Bopp, an image of Meteor Crater in northern Arizona, and a passage from William Shakespeare's enduring love story, "Romeo and Juliet":
    And, when he shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night,
And pay no worship to the garish sun.

first Nighwish thought this song can not be performed live because it is too hard to sing and harmonize, but we know the challenge was taken and beautifully mastered.
Take a look at 'shoemaker' LIVE performance at Hellfest2022 or Deichbrand Festival 2022
All the best to Floor, get well soon Valkyrie 🐺🤘

Yea! It's Floor repeating the classic song she sang at the end of the Sabaton video.
While the phrase "outward urge" refers to "The Outward Urge", a science fiction novel by English writer John Wyndham, an ardent rationalist, that term is a metaphor for space exploration.
In "the whole starmap" sky chart is a map of the night sky used to identify and guide yourself by identifying stars in the heavens, widely used from antiquity to the modern era, including the Age of Discovery (Columbus, Cabral, etc).

Lovely reaction. I know most us of say Nightwish live is better (usually is) but for me the lyric video for this one with it's stunning visuals, especially at the end, are so epic. It is pretty amazing live. During the pandemic before they had a chance to tour in support of the album Floor did say she wasn't sure they would be able to do this live but they pull it off so beautifully. This is one of my top 5 Nightwish songs. Not only is it a lovely tribute to Eugene Shoemaker but it is an incredible ode to the human spirit of exploration. For our need to explore beyond earth. I spent 15 years at NASA working on Human Space Flight programs and I hope this song will inspire more people to support and become part of our exploration of the universe.

The instrument in the intro is a hammered dulcimer, beautiful instrument. They even reference it in the lyrics, at 5:40 in your video: "calling with the sound of a dreamlike dulcimer".

So happy that you did this one, it’s already become one of my favorites next to Dead Boys Poem, Greatest Show on Earth and Poet and the pendulum. Too bad you didn’t use a live version. Check them for yourself. When I heard the studio version, I thought this will be amazing live. Some people thought this can’t be done live. Check your own reaction and your eyes and eyebrows on the last part and then take Hellfest or Deichbrand live version and be even more amazed. Yes it’s Floor doing the ‘opera’ singing. Check the control live, it’s scary and heavenly at the same time………

This one is an Ode to Eugene Shoemaker. I think you may also love the opener from Human :II: Nature, Music. An introduction to the concept and unspoken language of rhythm and melody to humanity. from the perspective of Music as an entity unto itself.
