A super stack of listens Steve. Nice to see the Kevin Ayers and the DK's. I like both of those albums very much. Have a super weekend. It is Thanksgiving tomorrow in the US. So work is closed for the next two days. Have a nice weekend~ Rob/Boston
Hello Steve; Starting off with the Jeff Beck Group, East Od Eden, Rhinoceros, Spooky Tooth, Quicksilver, Caravan, Pink Fairies, DR. FeelGood, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, Bill Nelson to name a few. Quite a haul of eclectic titles from various artists & genres. Take care, Tina & Pat!~
Hi Steve Good to see you back making videos again. I love that acoustic version of Show Me The Way by Peter Frampton. I really must give Tom Waits some attention, I don't own anything by him, although I hear bits and pieces. I prefer Joy of A Toy to Shoot at the Moon, i found it more fun and wymsical. See for Miles do great reissues and always sound decent. I struggle with later day Jethro Tull, I feel they started to rely too much on keyboards and synths. Bill Nelson is a fabulous musician and always produces interesting music. All the best. Rob.😊
I buy a diverse selection of albums as you do. Tom Waits is someone l always intend getting. Great pick ups Steve, never heard of the Black Pumas, l'll check it out. Dr Feelgood for the win.
Hi Steve. Had to laugh when you corrected yourself about being glad to be back...I know that feeling! I've been trying to get into Tom Waits for years...I find the weirder he gets, the more I like him, with Swordfishtrombones being my favourite I think. Chris Blackwell discusses his signing of Waits in his recent(ish) autobiography; he's obviously quite a character. I've been meaning to get back into a bit of Kevin Ayres, might do that soon. I've got the twofer of Joy of a Toy/Shooting at the Moon. Cheers, James
Hi James, thanks for watching. I had been put off by Waits for years. I’m glad that has changed. I have the same Ayers twofer. I love his style of writing. Take care - Steve
I bought something by Rhinoceros recently. Best thing was the cover. Proper average. How that one is better. Pink fairies are really interesting band. Like what I’ve heard. I would have loved to have seen Dr Feelgood live. I find Bill Nelson a fascinating artist. Love that Lp. Cheers Steve, Chris
Thanks, Chris. I have to listen to Rhinoceros' debut. The original Dr Feelgood lineup would have been amazing live. I was fortunate to see Wilko six months before he died. Take care - Steve
Hey Steve. That Beck album will grow on you, really tight band he had there. No one shows that Frampton album, he’s a great guitarist and writer, suffered from overexposure after the live record. His father taught Bowie when he was in high school, and Peter played with Bowie during his later tunes. Nice Waits additions from his early songwriter/performer period. I’m Canadian and don’t know more than you do about Rhinosauris (sic). Great haul all around. Cheers.
Thank you. Jeff Beck always grows on me and this album will be the same. To a lot of people, Peter Frampton is only known for the live album. Sure I will find out more about Rhinoceros. Take care - Steve
Hello there Steve..... I didn't have you down as a Dead Kennedys fan, they're a band I rarely see when out crate digging etc... I'll have to look into those re-issues. I'd dearly love to get hold of their FRANKENCHRIST album, complete with the HR GEIGER rather rude poster that caused a lot of fuss and bother 😮😮😮 Everytime I hear the Canterbury scene being mentioned,I keep imagining a load of archbishop's raving it up and high on naughty substances !!! All the best 👍👍👍
Hi Nick, Frankenchrist is one of those reissued albums. Not sure how long it will be out for. Whatever the Archbishop of Canterbury gets up to in his spare time is his business. Take care - Steve
Hi Steve , for a Prog nut , I ‘ ve somehow not quite got round to Egg , as you say not easy to find and expensive when you do . I love keyboard trios , so really must check them out and loved Dave Stewart’s playing in Bruford .
The only East Of Eden album I’m familiar with is Snafu. I bought that Rhinoceros album because of the cover. The cover is better than the music. The first two Quicksilver Messenger Service albums are my favorite. They are quite a bit different than the rest. I was lucky enough to have seen Pink Faries live in 71. This was a very good batch of records.
Nice Waits finds, Steve. I love Short Change and Swordfishtrombones, but I think Heartattack and Vine is rather lacklustre. I reckon you can hear he's run out of steam on that one. Many of the songs sound like songs he'd done better before, and apart from the cracking title track, I don't like the blues tunes. I had an expensive couple of months, buying four of the Island reissues I hadn't already got. Hed
Hi Steve, good you are back in the groove and alert even walking past Oxfam's window as always depends on the donations, a five year old sealed Tom Waits hopefully the person didn't die and just it was unlistened to and now it'll be loved. I find once you get used to unorthodox voices e.g. Marianne Faithful, Leonard Cohen it's not so difficult. Dead Kennedys I had all the 80s reissues and culled them all probably a moral crusade I was on at the time (I do still hold some morals 😅) sometimes people making strong points from the left can sound a bit dated but with them it's still quite relevant. Each to his own anyway it's a basic yet complicated world we live in. Here endeth the political waffle. Have a good weekend 😊
Hi Martin, that was a lucky walk past Oxfam. Fortunately, the price was right. I love Waits for his voice it sounds well-lived. I understand what you mean about views from the left sounding dated. I had that period. Now I'm in my late 50s I find myself leaning towards those views. Strange how that happens. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. - Steve
Hello Mr. Whitty. Nice finds. My dad liked Spooky Tooth. He had four albums. I sold three albums (incl. Witness). I only kept The Last Puff, very good album. Greetings

Hi Mike, thanks for commenting on my videos. It seems we have a lot in common musically. Always looking for something different.

Thanks Hedley, I suspect that is why Asylum ditched him. I would have looked at picking up the reissues if the holiday had not got in the way. Steve
