Hello Steve; The Sweet one of the top Glam bands. Have their LP's both Euro & Stateside issues. Here in the states many of the singles were issued with non LP B- sides. The Level Headed LP marked a change in direction with Love is Like Oxygen. Like the LP & sounds of the original band. Many catchy radio friendly AM/FM hits. Unfortunate when Brian left. The group was never the same. Good album review, Take care, Tina & Pat!~
Good review Steve. I just got their Boulevard album in a collection I just bought. I was always too cool to buy any of their albums back in the day. Times change as do viewpoints. Cheers.
Interesting to hear your review Steve and the background of the record I've never owned or listened to Level Headed, just odd tracks and really only familiar with Love is like Oxygen, which is a great song. It was fun listening to the needle drops, but the album sounds a patchy affair..Good on the band for being creative and taking such an eclectic approach, although it rarely succeeds in my opinion. I still think Sweet Fanny Adams is their crowning achievement. It was tragic how Brian Connolly destroyed himself with hedonism, I recall seeing him interviewed at home in a wheel chair towards the end of his life, it was absolutely heartbreaking.
Rob, I recently saw the documentary about Brian Connolly on UA-cam. I think it might have been originally broadcast on Channel 4. It was a sad watch. Thanks for commenting on my videos. Take care Steve
basically agree in what you say, a band that grew up and looking for a new direction, aimed probably at a more adult rock area, i thought the album was a bit patchy, i think fountain was just as good as love is like oxygen, so a mixture of adult pop/rock songs and a little prog, air on a tape loop is interesting and like you say sweet does floyd, the next album cut above the rest carries on in the same vein, only a 3 piece with this one, its a bit more level than level headed and included some exellent tracks like mother earth and discophony, miles away from give us a wink then !!

Hi both, thanks again for watching. It was sad how the band fell apart after level headed. Look after yourselves. Steve
Enjoyed the review, especially the background stories. Well done.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Dave, I did not realise how popular Sweet were in the US until I researched the album.
@@SteveWhitty1965 sweet had 5 top 20 hits in the states, but they had a few more hits on the UK charts, i read
Ah... Steve, but you are the sweet level-headed album reviewer!
All of the band members sang on the early singles and not just Brian
