I’m 62 and have been feeling the same way lately. Letting go of relationships that no longer serve me has been hard, but it’s also incredibly freeing. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone in this journey.

I have already started doing it at 37... passing of my parents in their late 60s to early 70s 'disillusioned' me. The relations they gave importance throughout their life and how many were present there to support in last phase and passing! barely few! and not many which they held in high confidence and regard. It does not mean I have become rude... whenever some one approaches me I smile, give due respect and attend them but not with any great expectation of future relations or return. It means deep inside I have known that all the relations to this world are mere business transaction and real love can only be done with soul/God/self-less service/universe only and it's better to know yourself then to know others. God bless you.

May you find strength in tough times, joy in the little things, and the courage to pursue what truly matters to you. I turned 76 last October and can vouch for the “5 Pillars”. Worked as long as I could, spend money on things I value, looked after my health - cancer an old memory, have no grand children to play with and volunteer at a primary school, have creative interests and get enthused about things - counting colours in my rainbow. 🙏

Agree 100 percent 12:09 especially on no. 1 because the 1st step towards true joy is a deep, profound connection with the Lord God, our creator and His Absolute Gospel. I'm 66 and will turn 67 next month and i've experienced occasional loneliness ever since i retired from work, more so when my youngest son passed away 2 years ago. I'm immensely grateful to God that through it all, HE never left me and made me a stronger person. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

There is much more to learn and experience. For me having Faith is very important too. I practice yoga and meditation. I love travelling and connecting with nature and do volunteering as much as l can. The greatest wealth is being fit physically mentally and spiritually. Love and respect everyone without judgement and don’t forget to love yourself too. It is very difficult to fully love others if you don’t love yourself first.

My husband, when in his late seventies went back to school to learn jewelry, (he’s ninety now and I eighty). He spent four years and got his diploma as a jeweler, and was the oldest student in class. He was congratulated personally by the school director on graduation day. He made good young friends there. He always wanted to be a jeweler and accomplished it in his late years! He also volunteers at church and is member of the economical committee. We have some good friends, just a few but good ones. We’re never bored because we get busy doing different things. We keep healthy by eating healthy foods, walking every day and keeping our doctors appointments, going to church. Also financially independent. We are grateful for what we have and thank God daily for His grace, love and mercy.

I will be sixty eight next month and feel content and in control!
Just had my sons here for Christmas which was great!
They have gone to see their Dad as we are divorced!
I have financial independence which is good!
I love the freedom that living alone gives you!
I was a single Mum for years so it is now my time!
I was judged a lot as a single Mum by others!
Being older I do not care what people think about me!
My sons are doing well which is great! They are both good workers!
I count my blessings now as I had a tough childhood being a family of twelve!
Your past does shape you because I am very independent now!
I enjoy reading and other hobbies!
I walk a lot which keeps me fit!
My house is on three floors so do lots of stairs which is ok!
Just eat well and keep well each day!

I just turned 58 this year and I've been thinking about what to do after I turn 60 only because my life has taken a weird path: 7 years ago I moved to a different country with my husband, my dog just turned 15 or 16 and might die any time, I decided to stop my toxic marriage of 18 years, and I have estranged adult sons. So many worries and stress have left me overwhelmed and I kind of lost my focus. These days I've been trying to figure the best path for my life and I've been praying for guidance. Thanks God that I have my faith, and I'm thankful to have found this video. I already have done some of the things explained in here, but others like the physical health part I've put it aside because I didn't have any motivation. But this video reminded me the importance of the physical part because it's not only the mental part we have to take care of. I had stopped a long time setting goals every new year. I've thought that these pillars would be a great way to start small goals again. Thank you for this video . 🙏🙏

I'm 69. Thank God I have a monthly pension from the government, having been a teacher. I don't have any house ,am not healthy enough to live on my own so I live with my daughter and son who live in different places. I travel once a fortnight to visit both of. My medical bills are taken care of by the government, other expenses I have own money to spend, not a burden to either of my children. I'm able to do my personal hygiene stuff, having a shower, taking my medication correctly, eating, sleeping , resting, communicating with friends and family through WhatsApp and FB. Sometimes, attend get together with childhood friends, college mates and colleagues. I'm enjoying my life although no own house. Live a very simple life, contented with the very little I have, happy n safe until God calls me back. Simple rule is: Believe and trust God to take charge of my life 🙏

"Enjoy loneliness" is something I cannot comprehend. I have a place full of all sorts of things I'll collected and bought over the years, but nothing is as fun and pleasant as an day, or evening or afternoon with friends. I have had all the loneliness I need, have had very much time to myself, but lack of socializing is killing me. For the first time in years, I spent New Year's Eve at a house full of people all speaking in a language I didn't know more than a few words of, but I was happy to be there, with people. I made new friends, and hope to be invited this year again.

If you have really observed your life and of others, by the time you are Sixty, you would have known that NOTHING IS PREDICTABLE; NOTHING IS IN YOUR HANDS. The Universal Higher power which runs the Universe is running your life also. The best way to live is to totally surrender to that higher power (Or God as you may call it) and live in total peace and security. Those who have lived like that know this truth to be perfectly true.

what an eye-opening video! 💡 It’s so easy to get caught up in the idea that family will always be there, but as we age, these five pillars really highlight the importance of independence and resilience. Financial independence, physical health, emotional strength, a supportive social circle, and having a clear sense of purpose-these aren’t just nice-to-haves, they’re essential for truly thriving as we grow older. 💪 What really stands out to me is how these principles build a foundation that empowers us to live life on our terms, not relying on others to dictate our happiness. 🌟 I love how each story brings these pillars to life-such powerful reminders that it’s never too late to take control and make your next chapter even more fulfilling! 🙌

From an active 77 year old.... I'm curious about lots of things and love to watch UA-cam travel videos on our big TV, I ride my ebike 20 miles with 2-5 others (oldest is 91) on Tuesdays and Thursdays to a Starbucks and back (might be easier here in California), 30 years ago I bought a Concept 2 rowing machine and still row 2000 meters most days while watching UA-cam with earphones on an old laptop, am co-president of the RV club and we get out in our RV at least once a month year round, I volunteer at a local park running the train once a month, am a hike leader with the hiking club....... Age stays long enough for anyone who makes it useful.Avoid being dependent on others for your routine personal needs by keeping your environment clean. Keeping a healthy environment will not only allow others also to benefit but will also serve as a personal enjoyable exercise. Cooking, cleaning, gardening taking care of animals are among my favorite daily activities.
But, above everything I do, practicing peace in complete silence is the best prescription to start every single day.

For me , past experiences and what I`ve learned from them are my greatest pillar . Who to trust and who not to trust . Experience doesn`t come with qualifications letters after or before my name . Each one of them was its own test to pass . What I`ve learned is so much better than a fat bank account . When I learned to be independent from a pre-teen on living and working in both cities and remote places I did gain much knowledge that I wouldn`t trade .

These 5 pillars are good at any age, in fact has worked very well for me through my 20s, 30s, and will keep it going adding a few other dimensions as aging comes on. Don't wait until you're approaching 50 or 60 to build and maintain self sustainable. Also, don't lose connection to family, though not relying on and expecting them to 💯 take care of you in old age. They are vital.
