The nice thing about the new (2022) model is the flushmount rod holders have the ability to connect a rod leash. Also the seat. Instead of strapping over the front bar strap over the back one. That way if you stand up to fish you can fold the seat back for more room.
I installed a skeg on my Catch100. Solves tracking issue. I'll remove left rod holder a replace with cup holder. All in all great platform in quite waters.
I had to re-loctite and tighten all the bolts/nuts that hold the seat hinges together first day of owning. Really good idea to go over the whole boat and tighten everything down anyway but mine was so lose it may have fallen apart the maiden voyage.
Would love some more info on your fish finder, the battery, the setup, the mount. All that. If you have some free time that would make for a great video! I have the catch 100 and haven’t had much experience with it yet but that would be an awesome upgrade. Nice review!
Great video I that about buying one of them but I got a lifetime but with all the mods I did to it, it works out great for now. When I upgrade this pelican is what I'll upgrade to. New subscriber here
Great review, very detailed. I have the same kayak. I just use rod leashes for the rod holders in the back. Haven't had a rod come out yet, but if it did I'd be able to retrieve it easily.
Just bought the Catch 100 last Sunday, at Academy Sports ($699, but got the 10% Off...!). Only had it out on the lake 5 times, but seems to be a LOT better than that Pelican Sentinal I had (and sold for $250 w.Paddle). Having auditory damage and NO Balance, I don't even TRY to stand up in it...! Haha! I'm 6'4" @ over 200# and mid 70's, but I can carry the 'Yak in one hand - and have a "free" hand to carry a couple of rods and tackle box in the other - down to the lake..! (A WHOLE lot different than my Titan, which weighs over 150# with wheels and some gear aboard...!) Haha! Might just keep this'un (can't afford my "Dream 'Yak" Hobie PA-14, which would run me over $6,000 "outfitted"! Haha! Thanks for the honest review, and think about turning the left-front rod holder around, so it doesn't interfere withe paddling.
I have the Pelican Sentinel, and the seat is horrendous on my back. Its alright for the price but my god im never buying another kayak without a stadium style seat.
@@jorcktheoutcast8007 Guy I sold the Sentinel to has already SOLD it...! After selling it, I came up with a "Nifty" way to put a $20 cheap stadium seat in, without "shifting" around. (Guy he sold it to, and his wife and kids LOVE it now that the seat "problem" is fixed...!) Myself, I wouldn't have the Sentinel again as I got tipped over in it by a medium-sized catfish I snagged while Bass fishing a creek. Catfish weighed between 33 and 35 pounds, but some get over 65# here! We get a $200 "stimulus check", I'm ordering the Hobi PA-12 or PA-14, for sure! (Got 4 'Yaks now, but what the heck...!). Haha!
@@MSmith-jf5wo @M. Smith Holy smokes thats a hell of a fish, bigger than any fish around here except maybe striped bass. Our record striper is 48 lbs so not even as big as your big cats. Ive been looking at possibly screwing some strapping and a stadium seat on the sentinel until I upgrade to a catch 100 or 120, then I'll probably keep the sentinel for friends to use. Go for it you can never have too many kayaks lol
I was looking at upgrading from my lifetime tamarack angler 10ft kayak. It's been a good one and it tracks and paddles very well. Does this yak track well? Thanks for the review.
It's alright for this price point. With a wider kayak its getting used to the size thats key. That being said I normally paddle at a pace around 2.8 mph so its on the slower side but once it's going its easy to keep up to speed.
I am 6'1" and 220 and honestly once you get used to standing, I never felt like i was going to flip. i rowed while standing and it was still super stable.
Just bought mine, I noticed that my scupper holes are still closed from manufacturing. Did you have to drill them yourself or did it come already drilled?
Here is a video explaining the mount and how much it cost. ua-cam.com/video/78X09-Ykl-M/v-deo.html I have since changed and i am currently working on a video explaining my current setup.
Depends on how deep the river is. Th ones around me are only about a foot deep in the rapids so it tends to get stuck on rocks. But if its a smoother deeper river then it will be fine.
@@collegefishing1019 I was waiting for a c 100 hd along time ago , but it was to long of a wait then , just picked up a Slayer propel 10 and it is fantastic. From what i hear the catch 10HD won't be released till next year.
I'm sorry to hear that. I took mine down several rivers and dropped it hard onto concrete on more than one occasion. I never had any issues other than normal rashing on the bottom.
I just bought one at academy for 699 and I am glad I got it!! Thanks for making this review! Explained a lot for me !! Awesome!!
Thanks for this post. I purchased mine last summer and have had a great time fishing in it since then. Your review helped make my decision.
Glad I could help!

Best review on this kayak I’ve found.. going to go look at one in a little while… used but the pictures look good
You can use one those back rod holders and install a light pole if fish at night out of it......thanks for the thorough review on this kayak

Great review! Just bought one and got a 10% military discount on it! Thanks, this review lead me to buy it.

Been thinkin bout buying this kayak, and your review is the best by far. Thanks for the content 👍🏻
Thank you. More videos coming soon.
I have had my catch 100 for 5 months now and love it!

Thank you for the idea!! Video is up!
What kind of scupper plugs are those? I can't find any that small.
Great review by the way.

I’m waiting for mine. Longest week of my life!
My buddy just picked one up at Academy for less than $384 on sale today!
That’s a friggin steal

I use them on my tuff crate now. The back rod holders I use for my net and camera mount.
Solid review. Thank you... you mention you're 6'1" how much do you weigh?
Great video
I think the 10ft is nice compact esp for transport but 12ft is more room n better tracking. I ride 2 people on my catch 120

ThX for the review
Good review. I want one.
I'm newbie here , good review. Ty
Thanks hope it helps
I’m 6’2” at about 250lbs. Do you feel this kayak has good standing and rowing stability. Also how does it Dow with boat wake?

Does it have a skid plate or can you put one on it?
Best fish finder for the kayak?
Just bought mine, I noticed that my scupper holes are still closed from manufacturing. Did you have to drill them yourself or did it come already drilled?
Mine were already drilled.
You sound just like yakpak lol
What mounts do you have for your Garmin and how much you got into the whole fish finder setup

How's the plastic durability?
What setup is that transducer on?
How does it handle in the rivers?

I love how all these self righteous UA-cam jackalopes think just because it doesn’t cost 4500$ it’s considered a “beginner” kayak.
I love how jacklope trolls just look for informational videos to criticize.
They have the Catch HD10 now.
I Knew they had the HD130 in stores i havent seen the 10ft version yet
@@collegefishing1019 Yeah it will most likely be at icast , not sure of the release date.
I was looking to upgrade to the HD130 I may just have to wait now
It's actually a 110HD (11ft). Pelican introduced it on Monday via a couple of photots on Facebook and it is set for release to dealers in 2020.

Um
I had this Kayak and it got a hole and sunk on the 5th use, this is junk
