I own this kayak. I'm 190 and I stand up all the time. But I used to snowboard and wakeboard, so I'm not bothered by a little rocking. Depends on the person. Good review!
I bought a 120 around the time this video came out and I'm buying the 100 for my daughter this year. I have no problems reaching the rod holders in the back for storing rods and I'm not flexible at all. On mine right in front of the paddle holders which in my opinion are useless I mounted a scotty mount on each side for my Fish finder and a rod holder. If you put mounts or rod holders any closer they are going to get in the way of the paddle. The catch series is very stable I'm huge at 270lbs so standing is not for me I have but not for anything other than a min or so I have a smaller fishing buddy that just hopped on and was using it like a paddle board with zero issues. The seat is very comfortable and he says 4 hours I've easily spent twice that in mine without discomfort (identical seat).
Absolutely True about Payload - Hobie says hull 350 Seat 250 - I am 6'1" and 249 - 255 lbs depending on how the diets going and way to many boat manufacturers cater to smaller people
Hey Rodney, like your review. Got mine just before fall from Academy Sports for $500 with upgraded carbon fiber paddle. Definitely agree with you on stability. I'm 150lbs and do not feel comfortable standing in this kayak under any wind conditions. "And I use to skateboard and ride freestyle BMX" Recreationally; It's more comfortable to sit and fish in this any way. I do not however have trouble reaching my rods and I also like the reverse angle as it allows me to cast overhead rather than side arm. I do wish Pelican offered a rudder, the wind blows this thing around terribly due to its shorter length. Until the next time. Keep catching em buddy
I agree about the rudder for sure. That wind will take you away in this thing. It is a nice sit down kayak to start fishing with. Standing is another deal though. Thanks. what are you fishing for with catch 100?
Thank you for the review…. I’m a late comer to kayaks,,, thinking of one to get off the banks&dams. I was wondering and you touched on several of my concerns. Thanks again!
Really appreciate you taking the time to review this! Convinced my wife to p/u later this evening at $350! My current kayak I had to add a few mods b/c of the rod holder/track placements.
Rodney, thanks on the review on this kayak as I’m looking at that kayak and another. The fact you touched on the little things like the foot rest rails being uncomfortable to rest your foot on is kind of important, so thanks. I have heard very good reviews on this kayak and yours is just another good one with some additional things to look at that others didn’t touch on. Thank you sir and good fishing!
Just got one today from Dicks for $300. Very light weight and excited to use. I pretty much only fish for trout, bass and crappie here in KY and in the region so don’t need more than a 10-15 pound line anyways so hopefully no rockin for me 🤣
Thank you. I'm only using it to gain my strength back from severe 2 1/2 year long covid and mental health to sit out on the water to read or photography out on the water. I'm getting for $400 only used once. So I think it has everything I need. Thank you and have a good day
iv been look to buy a kayak for 4 years now and have it down to 2 the catch 100 or 110 both have good thinks to me i like the length of the 100 but the 110 would be better on the rivers i plane to float and i will need a stand up assist bar like to see video on that thanks for the info you give
Bought mine July 5th, and have fished in it a day or two Every Week SINCE...! As far as stability, it's way too light for most people to stand up and fish (I tried that and nearly flipped, as I'm a little over 6'4, and 210#) Haha! Front hatch is good for First Aid Kit, flashlights, sandals, shirt/shorts change, drift anchor, etc., but too small for most things. For the price, it would be hard to beat..(I have 3 other 'Yaks, including a Titan - "Full-Up", for long "jaunts" on the lake). For short outings, the Catch 100 is hard to beat. (Would've bought the Catch 120, but nobody ANYWHERE had it at the time, and bought the Only Catch 100 IN Arkansas - at that time!). Liked the Honest Review, Rodney... (Just ordered a Hobie PA-14, for a little "variety"!). Haha!
This Kayak is $600 these days, i am looking for something i can take fishing in remote areas. If you have a suggestion im all ears.... Price is a issue so thats why i was looking at this one
Yes they do. I have enjoyed mine and it is one of the best ways to get out of the house to fish, exercise, and just relax. What kayak do you have? The catch 100?
hey hi , I bought this kayak, I like it. It is my first fishing kayak. What do you guys think about the speed of it ? is it a regular speed kayak or below average for speed ?
Definitely below, I have one too, I love it for fishing but it is really not a good kayak for long trips in large lakes or rivers. I am thinking adding some electric motor to reach faster my fishing spots .
Great review bud. Just like you said, I’m looking to buy so I can get off the bank and into the water. I don’t currently have the space at home to store a bass boat or anything that big.

Got a question sir. I just took my pelican catch 100 out for the first time. Had a great time. When it was time to leave i went to load the kayak back into my truck and noticed the kayak was alot heavier than when i put it into the water. I removed the back plug and a lot of water came out. I raised the front of the kayak and drained all the water out of the kayak. Is that normal? Any idea how the water got inside there? Thank you
Never had that problem with mine. I would say you possibly have a hole somewhere in the hull. Fill the interior hatch or drain hole at home and see if you see it leaking back out of the bottom.
@@rodneyhunt I found the problem. It’s one of the drains in front of me. The leak is coming from inside the hole. Anyway i can send you a few pictures and videos to get your opinion? Thank you sir
@@rodneyhunt I appreciate the reply on an older video. Thank you! Basically the perfect kayak for me then. I can do a hull mount for the transducer for my Garmin striker 4. sorry but that ozark trails kayak you showed is actually a better kayak than the catch 100. its extremely stable when standing, tracks better, has a bit more comfortable seat, more room, way more weight capacity, etc. not to say it doesnt have flaws because it does but its actually a very good kayak and probably the most stable you can find new for under $700.

I bought one of these for the 2021 bass season and let me tell you that you won't be disappointed. My review after a season of use would be.. Pros: price, feels and looks like a quality built product all around, the seat, can carry alot of gear comfortably for the day. Compared to my Tarpon 100, the Catch 100 weighs the same but has stand ability and a chair that would be better for my back.
It should fit the bill as an upgrade. Let me know how you like it once you pick one up.
I was hoping for a 10 footer in which I could stand with ease. I guess ill have to pass on this one! I weigh 225
