I walked into Walmart yesterday, somebody had returned one of these a week prior without even using it. It was brand new. Priced at $765 regular, they had it on clearance for 200 bucks so I picked this up for my son for Christmas present this year he’s going to love it.
Nice! I bought a Pelican Challenger 100 Angler kayak last year but it's a little tricky to fish out of as I am 6'6 225 lbs. I'll probably pass it on to my kids and try one of these 34 inch wide Pelican Catch 100 Classics this year and do some serious fishing. Now if I can just find some time on sale somewhere. That's a tough product to buy now days. Thanks for the review. Best one I've found so far showing real world experience.
Just bought one a week ago. I highly recommend either a skeg or a rudder, the kayak has a lot of movement in the wind. I am still researching which is best
I bought one of these and folks I had a ton of fun in it until a few boat waves rocked me then I took a plunge! I remounted to have more fun then another boat goes by and out into the water I went! So, I had tried other kayaks and this one is more comfortable and stable but if you buy one I Pray that you don’t have to contend with boat waves! I returned it and bought a canoe!
Thanks for the terrific review! I especially enjoyed watching the fishing part. You have motivated me to take the "plunge" and buy this one! I have been eyeing this kayak for a while now for several reasons. I want to kayak with my dog and most recreational kayaks have lower weight limits. Because of the wide open front section it seems perfect for taking my dog along, too. I also want to learn how to fish and I prefer practical kayaks over the flashy bright colors available in most recreational kayaks. The only negative is that our local Walmart doesn't sell kayaks and our Tractor Supply does but doesn't have this one in the store. Amazon has it with free shipping, but it's out of stock. So, I'm going to have to pay over one hundred dollars just to have this shipped to my house.
Your review of this kayak is one of the best I’ve seen. Very thorough, and chocked full of close up views, allowing me to really see if this kayak will work for me. I believe it will. Just one question I have, how well does it paddle? I know you said it’s not going to be the fastest, but is it labor intensive to get it to move? I have a Magellan kayak now that seems to be a chore to make it move and I’d like to switch to this Pelican as an upgrade.
I have one and use it a lot. Absolutely love it for the price I paid. Stable and ample space for gear. It might not track as good as other kayaks, but that doesn't hinder me at all. The seat is adjustable and very comfortable. I can carry 6 rods with the milk crate holding 4. I attached 4 Ozark Trails rod holders (from Walmart) to the crate using zip ties and it works great. The only time I nearly capsized it reaching back for my box, the kayak "stopped" pitching, again it's very stable.
@@CBB316 VERY stable! When it pitches to either side, it kind of "breaks" from going further. The seat is remarkable, adjustable and comfortable, which is a huge benefit! Now it tracks like a snake in the water, but I'm used to it, am sure other kayaks track much better, but then again, they don't measure up to the durability, comfort and stability the Pelican has (especially for the $$$). I also like it because i can run in 4 inched of water without scraping, no problem. Would I buy another one? Heck yea!
I'm gonna have to get this..1st I love to fish when we camp - and old hinny injury I have Really hurts after and hour of fishing and I think the seat on this is gonna end my sore end lol 2nd My husband and our Golden can actually get in this together and tool around the lakes and creeks. I not found another kayak that actually has enough of a flat space to allow a dog to sit - this one really seems to fit the bill. Thanks for this review
I ordered 2 today from pelican. I got my 2 man boat from them 15 teen years so they sent me a message and I got 93% off so I ordered 2 for me and my brother. I was going to get the catch 110 HD ll but couldn't pass up the deal. Good job on video
Mines is a bit bulky but it’s doable and rides. However, the down side of mine hdrii is a bit heavy do to me being not so tall and thin build not superman types if guy and love fishing of course…then for me to lift it up to my toyota 4runner rooftop 😢…yeah. Its times for me to take a break for .30 minutes before I head out 🥵😡😡. And, I am happy for you 👍
One question please Do you think it would be decent enough to use as a camping boat for like 3 or 4 days? I really don’t plan on using it as a fishing boat just something to float down rivers and camp
I should've waited a few months to get that one instead of my Basscreek 100XP. I won't lie, but mine looks faster;-). What are you planning on adding to it?
the ONLY thing i dont like about this kayak is the front dry area, if you chuck your phone in there, its gonna go for a ride throughout your kayak. Might have to take some spray foam and fix that
@Beyondthebite2024 trust me, it's way too small. It only has a carrying capacity of 350 lbs. Plus, the kayak is only 10 feet long. Your seating position is pretty much in the middle, and the front 2 feet or so are taken up by the trunk. So there's no room for a full sized dog.
@Beyondthebite2024 I'm sure with a 12 footer, it would provide more room. if it were me, I would definitely go to a store where you can get hands-on with the kayaks like bass pros or a private dealer. Take a seat and kind of get a feel for how much room each kayak will provide in the floor well for a dog as well as checking the weight capacity for each.
I bought a pelican mist last year and regret it. So tippy just paddling it. I should have returned it I bought outriggers for it . Not impressed with Pelican

Wow, that’s a crazy deal!!!
Damn, that was a steal!!! I wish I had that kind of luck lol
Great review video. It was also fun fishing with ya. Thanks for the ride

good review honest and straight forward

I don’t think a canoe is gonna fix that issue. I hope it did for your sake. Turn the bow into the waves and you may ride it out better.

Thanks for the review man! Think I’m going get one now.
"ive seen a lot better, ives seen a lot worse". haha I love it. great vid bro.
I got me a small backpack that has my tackle in it and fits comfortably in front of me since it does have plenty of leg room
Definitely value here! Quality not so much but it does everything ok. It won’t sink so that’s a plus. I like the low seat setting option a lot!
So do you think it's worth the extra $150 or should I just get the Ozark trail fishing kayak?
Really enjoyed your review.

How much was it? If you don't mind me asking

How’s it handle on the water

What did they give you 93% off for, for being a returning customer? Or for the amount of time you had the boat?
Can't beat the Hank Parker Speed Stick. I have an orange and white one. Lol
i took my new classic catch 100 out today for the very first time
I just bought two of these! $499 at Academy

Can you mount an electric motor? Great vid!!
Sorry to ask but the bottom blue plugs is that to put water in the bottom Hull for stability??
No those are to keep water from coming up into the floor of the kayak. Those are just regular scupper plugs.
Anyone think there’s a better one they are $500 now and seems to be the best for the price
Grampa says,"don't stand up in the boat"!

Very good you can do it
What are skupper plugs for?
To keep water out and from pooling up in the kayak floor
Can a trolling motor be attached?
You'd have to build the brackets to mount it but yeah it can be done
Curious if anyone has hunted out of this kayak?
is this big enough for a large dog to lay down in
I've got one myself, and I can tell you anything more than a chihuahua is way out of the question

$600 kayak ain't cheap budget
for kayaks especially fishing kayaks yes it is brother, if ur looking for one like this get the 100x around 150-200$ cheaper but not as roomy
