Pulls strong sounds AWSOME better black smoke than blue smoke! This car looks so clean it's hard to believe what you started with the car looks the a real cobra AWSOME job👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The clone really turned out nice man,it's a beautiful car sounds healthy and nasty like she should. You did a hell of a job brother, you're a blue blooded stang banger, and I appreciate everything you put into these videos man I love the channel.
Looks like she's running great! Be glad your idle is working so well, mine was h e double hockey sticks to get it to work! Actually ran IAC unplugged while driving it initially. My unit was not right and DIY Autotune wasn't much help. Had to change the duty cycle of the IAC and several other things as it would randomly shoot to 3k and then drop back down after 2-3 seconds. Idle real good now except cold start, it will not taper down. The autotune is great just set it to only work above the idle region or it will jack the idle area up.
My man,she looks absolutely amazing!!!You definitely inspired me to keep on moving forward. I cant believe the progress you have made with her. Sounds so HEALTHY!!!!💯👍
Must be nice to be wearing a tshirt with the windows down in February bro lol! But seriously, just purchased my megasquirt and going to be installing it very soon. Looking forward to learning how to tune it myself as well. Your channel and what you do is this reason why I made this decision. Appreciate everything you do and can't wait to watch more on your projects and keep learning.. just keep that content coming bro!!!
It’s nice other than the fact it’s 80 one day and 40 the next. Lol thanks for the kind words! You’ll love your MS! I plan on doing plenty of other videos on tuning coming soon. 👍
Brew2l, have you ever run an IAC restrictor plate? Basically cut a price of sheet metal the shape of the gasket and make one of the holes smaller so less air comes from iac. It causes the rpms to fall noticeably faster, less hanging rpm. I put one on and I like it! Doesn't surge as much for sure.
Recognized that intake pop instantly lol. Mine does the same because it leans out around 1800 rpm. Hopefully soon to change though, just got a wideband and a Moates Quarterhorse in today so there's my project for the weekend lol
BREW2L Might wanna take a look at your datalogs and make a note what RPM it happens at and check your mixtures, mine will stumble then pop and then keep revving up like normal
Nothing like doing street pull on UA-cam when the speedometer doesn't work. Makes that editing process absolutely painless 🤣Hope you feel better dude. PS -> Caleb took your old spot in my new intro 😁
Great work. If your unsure about those valves I Would fix that before any more adjustments. The car sounds great. Back in the 90s I used a distributor on my 5.0 with12-14 initial and ended 32-34 (+\-1)all in @3000 mech advance only so just flat 2d map if represented, That’s a light car with man trans and gears. Heads cam intake. I dont think it’s aggressive enough to blow any milder a setup. If anyone searching for timing numbers to start. Your going to be “all in” (advance) most of the time so spend your time finding that final number that makes power but still safe, smooth down backwards from 3000 to idle as your engine needs less advance at lower speed. With the efi you can find your cruise loads and go back and put some advance in to help tip in at cruise. I didn’t have that luxury, I guess I could have tried a vac advance, I will tell ya it didn’t matter...
Glad to see you have fun with it, your closet on the IAC but need to make sure car in not in warm up enrichment it add 20%ish fuel and you can control IAC with tunerstudio
Correct, But what I was speaking of was the base setting for a throttle body. Mine was so far closed the IAC was having to stay open 40+% to keep the car idling.
Hey Brew2l, glad to see that you are happy with the car and Megasquirt ECU so far. I noticed on a previous video that you had your idle timing value set to 15 deg. That timing value may cause the engine to be a little too efficient at idle, causing air corrections by the IAC valve to have TOO much of an effect, causing the idle to surge. The side effect of too much efficiency at idle is that the engine will react to the air faster than the ecu has the ability to correct. Turn it down to 10 deg and see how she does. Also, contrary to what you said about about the IAC not being the only thing responsible for controlling the idle, I would recommend setting the throttle blade to a LOWER value than what is planned for the idle value (say 800 rpm) and let the valve do the work. That way your idle wouldn"t be bouncing off of an OFF value (or a 0% duty cycle) there the solenoid has a chance of being inaccurate in it's operation due to the nature of how inductors work as they apply to on and off current states. Just my $.02. Good luck and God bless.
Loving it so far! The car doesn’t seem to like anything lower that about 13-15 I already lowered the timing a lot from the base tune. As far as the throttle blade goes it’s not set to run at my desired idle, it’s set to run about 750 ish without the IAC. But I agree with your logic 100% 👍
@@BREW2LFOXBODY Allright, I'm sure you'll figure it out. I have tweecer and have done a little fiddling with it. Forgot to mention, I really respect what you do with the channel. All of the content is awesome, and it's amazing what you do with the tight budget. Kudos!
I've had my share of headaches with the throttle stop adjustment on my '94 and my '99. If the car wants to stall out as you come off the freeway or get to a stoplight, try opening it up. If it has troubles idling down or the engines revs way up when you press the clutch and let off the gas, close it up. A quarter turn makes a big difference! Also, don't bother with an EGR delete, that makes the car run like garbage on the stock ECU.
On my brothers 95 vert we advanced the timing on the stock ECU from 8-10-14-18 and eventually left it at 18°, I’ve had two other MS 5.0s so I figured I’d give it a shot on this car... we picked up 1mph in the 1/4 after 30 minutes of tuning the MS vs our best run on the EEC! If you know how to tune you can pick up a lot! ( 1mph isn’t a lot but it’s a bone stock vert 😂 I’m happy with it )
I've had the same pop but it was only random and before it was up to full temp but I do have the spacer between the throttle body and intake with the adjustment screws LMR sells the spacer.
From what I understand the timing should ramp in as quickly as possibly without pinging. Before 4000rpm at about 32 to 34 total. You will get the most torque like this. I could be wrong so someone else could chime in.
I found a lot of extra power when I did the switch to a microsquirt. Just finished the install with the on3 kit so now we reset everything and do it all again lol with more caution.
BREW2L it’s exciting and scary at the same time. I’m just doing it conservatively, and with advice from others also. Didn’t even install the boost controller so I wouldn’t have to worry about it not being adjusted right. Just running the spring. If you have any questions let me know I can try to help.
I need to bring you my 89 gt. I got plenty of video content lol. Has a carbed 331 stroker, big lunati cam, edelbrock performer heads and forged flat top pistons. I need it tuned desperately cuz all you smell is fuel and it runs decent but I know there's a lot left on the table.
So, is it a small thought that you may sale or possibly trade this car for a different one? I'm goin through most of the same as in restore on my 88 GT T-Top. I almost went Mega S but gonna try the quarter horse set up 1st to see how it does. Looks good brother. Asking about the sale because I'm not 100% sure I'm loving a t-top car lol.. I owned one years back, but was almost 20yrs younger. I miss my 93GT I handed down to my son.
I wanna get back to the old school and call them 5.0s . And drop the foxbody designation they are the first 5.0s so they shall remain a 5.0 if your not in the loop too bad
Sorry but I wouldn't use them if they were given to me. There's much better heads out there for close to the same price. The extra 200-300 dollars is worth every penny. People see they flow 250-260cfm between .500-.550 lift and assume it's a good head for the price because of that not understanding that the exhaust side completely sucks. Even a blueprint engine head is better. I don't believe the avg sve head will match the advertised numbers from what I've seen. Now even if they did. The big problem is the exhaust side. The numbers are horrible. They flow 149cfm max even at .600 lift. Now you match this head with the wrong cam. It will make even less power. You can get a set of TFS TW 170 heads for close to the same price that flow 250cfm from under .500 to 257cfm at .550. The best part the exhaust side flow 187cfm to 193cfm in that same .500-.550 lift range. That's a good head for the price. Not this SVE door stop.
She runs and sounds awesome! Great job man! Really like how you explain each thing you do to it and then give a review. Very helpful and inspiring!
