Often poorly trained and constrained by high command’s decision to make them escort 4 bombers and multiple attackers on missions , Allied pilots have been outnumbered and often outgunned and have been suffering heavy casualties against the rejuvenated Luftwaffe. Morale is at an all time low but news have filtered through of a superhuman feat by one Allied pilot who managed to shoot down 6 of the Hun in a single engagement in an AD 4 no less! There will be no doubt that this brave pilot’s name would be on the lips of every Allied flier as they too continue the fight against the Hun, for freedom and peace. In all seriousness, what a great game man. It was incredibly beautiful to watch. This is why I subbed and and this is why more people should as well.
Adam514 on the contrary I think the AD 4 demonstrated your skill and discipline superbly. You can’t make mistakes with that plane like you could with some Axis plane or even some of the better Allied planes. The fact that some overconfident Axis players underestimated you was just icing on the cake.
Yeah climbing is the right move. On aircraft that can't feather, turn off your engine before it dies completely or else the dead engine generates massive amounts of drag.
@@AdamTheEnginerd When that happens, I lower the prop pitch to zero. And if I end up to high and fast when I get to the airfield, increase it to slow me down. Works just as well as fethering.
"F4U-4B is more effective in every way except airspawn." Incorrect, this thing is a turn fighter in disguise. The best part is it turns hard at high, medium, and low speeds, better than most other planes. In the recent bout of markerless EC, I went on a 3 kill Rampage against several other aircraft at low altitude, including a couple Japanese Fighters. It will definitely outturn most anything German, and probably the Ta-152H as well. Even at low speeds and low alts, it maintains maneuverability well.
@@AdamTheEnginerd are you sure? This thing will consistently outturn 109s and Doras, and in my experience the Corsair won't outturn the 109s at anything under ~400kph

I feel like this game was a combination of: -you being good -WTF allied team being not trash? -german team that lose all of theire alt And also why that k4 try to head-on you he could have boom and zoom you or just out turn you
German team had a high number of Ta152s which don't have their airspawn advantage on this map. Allied team indeed had more fighters than average. He could have certainly BnZed me. AD4 turns slighty better than K4 though.

Great Video as ever good sir! Maybe try this in an IL-2? It may not have climb, but would serve as an interesting challenge, especially if you have the IL-2-37. Maybe the A-36 with gun pods? Its pretty much an early P-51.

I only have 4 bmbs and I focus on targets not bases before side climbing away to gain decent energy before acting as a support. My main goal is to keep enemies on their toes, preventing them from diving away from my higher allies and picking off enemy ground attackers and low fighters.
Hey Adam! Great video as always and very informative since I have been on the receiving end of the Ad-4 a few times when it was first introduced. I have a question as I am close to getting the P-51D-5, does it perform well at high altitude? I am coming from the P-47N so I know I have to BnZ in US aircraft but is the D-5 capable of doing it? I would love if you did a video on it, thanks as always!
I use it all the time when I force the enemy into a downward defensive spiral. It is also very useful at maintaining red line speed in a dive. This type of speed control can actually help you catch up to your enemies. It also prevents your plan from overshooting when the enemy starts scissoring. This in combination with the plane's high speed bleed when turning makes reversals much easier to accomplish when the enemie's energy state is similar to yours. Another use that I have used many times is when your elevator controls get shot out. The plane naturally wants to pitch up, but the air brake makes it pitch down, so it is very useful at getting back to base when that happens. Since the plane is already a bullet sponge, this safety net makes it that much tankier. I have over 1k air rb kills in this plane. Trust me, don't underestimate it's usability :)

The Most annoying thing about base AAA is that they keep firing even after you turn away and leave. It usually results in you getting crited and not making it back to base.

I've spaded these things for bullying people in ground rb, so I sometimes like to sip the forbidden juice and play a useless plane in RB, but they're not completely useless. The Spad can be a contributing member of society if 1) the map has ground targets that can lead to quick ticket bleed (such as Normandy) 2) the lawnmowers watch each other's backs 3) your fighters aren't outnumbered too badly So about 5-10% of the time. It turns well enough that German planes need a decent energy advantage or their gonna get caught trying to get away. The weakness in vertical maneuvers makes it very vulnerable in 1-on-1 engagements, but that's where your wingman, who has hopefully kept up his speed while you dodged, can come in and attack the fighter who just traded his speed for altitude in vertical maneuvers.
You also need to take a page from tthe flying spaghetti monster & weeb ufo's book of chat taunting. If you kill them, mock them for underestimating the almighty Spad/wasting their energy advantage against your fatass. If they kill you, remind them they wasted time/energy going after a plane that probably wouldn't win the game, whereas the fighters above them now might.

Skyraiders are easy pray for me, but not to be underestimated. Its maneuverability is expected but its ability to accelerate in a dive and hold that speed in level pursuit is frightening. I remember getting jumped by one after killing a P-51H in my D-12. Was a very embarrassing death. I would like to see more non-meta stuff.
Wyverns and other such aircraft like the Me-410. Okay but very much ignored for other aircraft. But yeah, the AD2/4 can really run after someone if needed.
Hey Adam, Im playing Realistic air battles pretty much since i started to play War Thunder and now that i progressed a lot through my tech trees i wanna master new things like the manual engine control to get and be better. But i have the Problem that i dont even know how to adjust the settings right to even start the manual engine control. It is sad that in War Thunder we have a lot of planes that are useless (most of heavy fighters, bombers, attackers) When you wanna play something different than fighter you wil instantly get rekt by enemy figters or loose battle because your actions do not affect the course of the battle. WT is a simulation, historical (in a measure) game about many different planes that were used during WWII and after including ground attackers and bombers that had very important role in military operations but of course gaijin istead balancing features that we already have ads new stuff unbalanced as well like helicopters available only for tank players with V era tanks... By the way great video and great game as always :)
Exactly ! And that's why Air players like me wants the EC mode ^^ When this game was introduced, Gaijin marketing was all about WW2 planes/experience, we all know where this has gone after 5 years and that a good part of those players left the game.
It's what I started with. It gives a better measure of the energy you have, as in how high you can zoom up to someone to get the shot. IAS is probably better for most people though.
It would be cool to try the attacker experience in a il-10. Good attacker and you can surprise some people with your decent turn rate. The 23mm cannons + the shit ton of armor makes this thing a head on beast. It performs well at low alt and can be a heavy fighter no problem. Great video btw!
@@AdamTheEnginerd if your looking for a fighter, the 1946 version is way better. You have 4 23mm cannons and a 20mm back gunner, so that would be a better choice if you want more of a fighter than a attacker. Thanks for responding!

I remember when i was spading the AD-2 first half of the procces was using the intended roll then i switch It for bomber interceptor and the resulst were... Very good actually...! Then i though "well... It feels like the Me 410 soo... I can use it as a heavy fighter..." And i don't regret on that
Well... I have mixed toughs on the 410 and the skyrider is not the exception i say this because i feel both with very similar handle but the skyrider can climb much better thanks to his (ridiculus btw) engine power i mean over 3000hp when the engine is spaded 0_0 i want that on my P-47N 🤣
But with the AD-2/4 engine the base 100% power will rise to 2700hp and 3200hp... I want the engine base power and the WEP of the skyrider in my P-47N Gaijin please add It ir quit 🤣🤣🤣

There is a way to overlay part of your browser over WT, you need to paly WT in windowed mode and use a program to overlay part of your browser over WT, but I've never done it. I record the local host on my laptop, and combine it with the gameplay during editing.
trust me, the mk V with flaps down, turns like a zero and no one expects you to I had an ace game in it a few weeks ago. It plays like a heavy fighter that can turn really tight once. go for it.

It's called the "local host". How to access the "local host": You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work! Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT: -Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila. Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT): -Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.
I've got 2 voiced videos but the video topic is way different than matches. Viewer can pause whenever needed, but I leave a lot of time to read the text and I only write important text.
oh yes there is alot of time to read the text, that wasnt the issue, my issue was that when i was reading text i missed the clip that proceeded it. it was mearly a suggestion as all nothing more or less...(i am aware that i can pause the video myself to read it)
I find it annoying when the video is paused to explain something personally, that's why I don't do it. Sometimes I show a part of the match in slow motion to explain/review what happened. Thanks for the suggestion!
Very Nice fight! Fly IL2 in 3.3. They are very good in support fights and head on.The gunner kill easy any fighter too. I think that the best weapon is that the most of players see attackers like easy kill. They are doom mostly for that mistake. Like in this final. The 109 started well but at final, head ons you. Crazy!
F4U4B do no have stelth capabilties like AD-4 😋 Yes i notice that too, people tend to ignore AD and that is when you jump on them and perform a suprise butsex on them. My french AD-4 have a suprise KD ratio. And do not break flaps use airbrakes 🤘

anyone else annoyed when people use stealth ammo when they are not in a night battle? I get using it in a night battle since the usual bright neon hot-dogs will give away your position but using it in a day battle?
Heres an idea for an interesting and sometimes rewarding tactic. Take a plane that has a high performance at low alt and go low along with the pround grounders. Not only do u pick up the enemy ground pounders easily, but enemy fighters dive in thinking that your a noob and a non reactor and for some reason are content to mindlessly turn fight. Ive gotten three kills in a three v three against mindless German seagull swarms that were alien to the idea of staggering their strikes and boom n zoom. On top of that u might just teach ground pounders to learn to defend themselves. I suggest the p-47 N since it is fast and turns better than germans. If G55s ruin it, the the F6F 5N is a great choice.
I've done that with the Tempest back when there was ground pounding Do335 spam. It works depending on the enemy team composition. Typically it's the Allies that have the ground pounders.
How the fuck can we hear shots if most of MG and CNN shoot shells at 500-700m/s, which is faster than sound. We should hear shells passing near us before hearing the shooting sound. Game has broken sound effects? Why am I the one noticing this?

It's not as good as feathering, and doesn't help on some aircraft.

Corsairs certainly outturn everything German. Check out my MER spreadsheet in the description, it includes turn time and turn radius.

In some maps 1 AD-4 can win the match by himself, but in others they are close to useless
Pretty much Normandy and Tunisia. But they need to be ignored to win the match.
What is that sound at 7:10? It sometimes happens when shooting at planes but I don´t know the meaning.
It means that a part of the enemy plane was damaged, and you see the text appear on the bottom right.

D5 is pretty good at altitude for its BR, but it has pretty bad climb though. P47s are significantly better than it at altitude.

Well now F4U4 is my D30 replacement. Rudder, roll and turn are better, and it's faster at all altitudes I think.
One thing that wasn't mentioned at the beginning of the video is that the AD-4 is one of the few air planes at that br that has an air brake :)
It isn't that useful though, AD4s have decent maneuverability at high speed, and they bleed a lot of speed in turns anyway.

How do you do minor adjustments to your Radiator? I can only go to 50% and 100% and I've been doing this for years now, and I really wanna know how.
There's an option to switch from only open or closed to variable, you'll see it in the MEC controls for radiator (and every thing else).
Do you use vertical targeting? And are there any advantages or disadvantages in using it?
I never used it. I don't recommend using it since it'll mess up your aim whenever you aren't close to your VT convergence distance.

Im playing Realistic air battles pretty much since i started to play War Thunder and now that i progressed a lot through my tech trees i wanna master new things like the manual engine control to get and be better. But i have the Problem that i dont even know how to adjust the settings right to even start the manual engine control. So it would be awesome if you could do a Video about all the stuff around it and how to use it.

It is sad that in War Thunder we have a lot of planes that are useless (most of heavy fighters, bombers, attackers) When you wanna play something different than fighter you wil instantly get rekt by enemy figters or loose battle because your actions do not affect the course of the battle. WT is a simulation, historical (in a measure) game about many different planes that were used during WWII and after including ground attackers and bombers that had very important role in military operations but of course gaijin istead balancing features that we already have ads new stuff unbalanced as well like helicopters available only for tank players with V era tanks...

When this game was introduced, Gaijin marketing was all about WW2 planes/experience, we all know where this has gone after 5 years and that a good part of those players left the game.
Modes can be complicated to design, but yeah WT is sorely lacking in that department.
Adam, why u use TAS over IAS?
It's what I started with. It gives a better measure of the energy you have, as in how high you can zoom up to someone to get the shot. IAS is probably better for most people though.
It would be cool to try the attacker experience in a il-10. Good attacker and you can surprise some people with your decent turn rate. The 23mm cannons + the shit ton of armor makes this thing a head on beast. It performs well at low alt and can be a heavy fighter no problem. Great video btw!

@@AdamTheEnginerd if your looking for a fighter, the 1946 version is way better. You have 4 23mm cannons and a 20mm back gunner, so that would be a better choice if you want more of a fighter than a attacker. Thanks for responding!

I remember when i was spading the AD-2 first half of the procces was using the intended roll then i switch It for bomber interceptor and the resulst were... Very good actually...! Then i though "well... It feels like the Me 410 soo... I can use it as a heavy fighter..." And i don't regret on that

Well... I have mixed toughs on the 410 and the skyrider is not the exception i say this because i feel both with very similar handle but the skyrider can climb much better thanks to his (ridiculus btw) engine power i mean over 3000hp when the engine is spaded 0_0 i want that on my P-47N 🤣
P47N nearly does 3000HP haha.
But with the AD-2/4 engine the base 100% power will rise to 2700hp and 3200hp... I want the engine base power and the WEP of the skyrider in my P-47N Gaijin please add It ir quit 🤣🤣🤣

There is a way to overlay part of your browser over WT, you need to paly WT in windowed mode and use a program to overlay part of your browser over WT, but I've never done it. I record the local host on my laptop, and combine it with the gameplay during editing.

I rarely chop throttle even, so I don't see the use. Enemies are generally going faster than me already.

How to access the "local host":
You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work!
Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT:
-Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila.
Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT):
-Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.

have you tried a post commentary type deal instead of the comments or perhaps pause the video to let the viewer review important text?
I've got 2 voiced videos but the video topic is way different than matches. Viewer can pause whenever needed, but I leave a lot of time to read the text and I only write important text.
oh yes there is alot of time to read the text, that wasnt the issue, my issue was that when i was reading text i missed the clip that proceeded it. it was mearly a suggestion as all nothing more or less...(i am aware that i can pause the video myself to read it)
I find it annoying when the video is paused to explain something personally, that's why I don't do it. Sometimes I show a part of the match in slow motion to explain/review what happened.

Very Nice fight! Fly IL2 in 3.3. They are very good in support fights and head on.The gunner kill easy any fighter too.
I think that the best weapon is that the most of players see attackers like easy kill. They are doom mostly for that mistake. Like in this final. The 109 started well but at final, head ons you. Crazy!

anyone else annoyed when people use stealth ammo when they are not in a night battle? I get using it in a night battle since the usual bright neon hot-dogs will give away your position but using it in a day battle?

Heres an idea for an interesting and sometimes rewarding tactic. Take a plane that has a high performance at low alt and go low along with the pround grounders. Not only do u pick up the enemy ground pounders easily, but enemy fighters dive in thinking that your a noob and a non reactor and for some reason are content to mindlessly turn fight. Ive gotten three kills in a three v three against mindless German seagull swarms that were alien to the idea of staggering their strikes and boom n zoom. On top of that u might just teach ground pounders to learn to defend themselves. I suggest the p-47 N since it is fast and turns better than germans. If G55s ruin it, the the F6F 5N is a great choice.
I've done that with the Tempest back when there was ground pounding Do335 spam. It works depending on the enemy team composition. Typically it's the Allies that have the ground pounders.
