Kia is a dying breed in that they make cars people will actually like, listen to their consumers and deliver products accordingly, and produce vehicles that will surprise you on every level. Such a shame that so many people take a snobbish stance. Numbers don't lie and that Kia will outrun, outlast, and outclass a Jeep any day of the week. Good luck convincing the wifey bud.
It’s not snobbery if a brand has a track record. For most consumers, this is the second biggest buy they make after property. What happens down the line when it’s out of warranty? If it’s a dud, used Kias are not in high demand. You know the Pilot will retain good value if you want to flip it.
My wife’s still running her 2007 Kia sedan twice rebuilt. Original engine and tranny. Runs really good. Starts every time only 100k miles. Just know maybe needs a steering pump.
Never thought I would ever buy a Kia. Had similar issues with dealers jacking up the price so I went 2 hours from home to a more rural area and got the vehicle at the price I wanted. I am so impressed with this vehicle. It is a tank. Loaded with tech. Drives like a dream. Turns heads. It does not miss a beat. Best vehicle for the price I have ever purchased and I have owned every major brand whether Japanese, German, or US.
KIA has come a long way. I got a brand new Kia Optima back in 2013 so I could commute to college and everyone told me the car would break down after 50k. That car has 170k and I haven't had any issues with it, only basic maintenance and tire replacement.
KIA and other previous keeper brands have come a long way. I think it looks nice but after seeing it's side crash tests, I had second thoughts. Now, I was looking at midsized SUV's to take the spot our getting older 2011 minivan is now serving duty, but after reading all the reviews, watching crash tests, I went with the VW Atlas. It's my 4th VW and though my last one was a TDi (dang I miss that car), I didn't want to have a future money pit so I sold it back to VW. Don't have any hard feelings about what happened, I just miss being able to go 1000 miles to a tank, in a 2013 Passat.
because Japanese like to defamed Korean auto, they hire plenty of Chinese American to defame other brands when Chinese tourists arrived in US , that is the true experience of mine, like what they did while in World War II, never trust them, they are doing same thing in China.
I owned a 2103 Sorento for 6 years and 105,000 miles. It’s a great car with no issues. I traded for a Telluride S model and love the vehicle. Kia did a nice job all around.
I bought a KIA Forte, new 2018. I was somewhat skeptical too but I tell you what, this little car really changed my mind. It's fast, it's fun, economical, and the warranty, customer service, and dealer experience were all outstanding. In my opinion, KIA and Hyundai were where Toyota and Honda were in in the 70s and 90s and now they are in the 21st century and you can't beat the price either. Go for it, Jeep is not what it used to be.
Take advantage of the fact that the brand name is allowing this vehicle to priced so affordably, because in a few years when people realize it's just as reliable as the other manufacturers, the price will go up
My wife and I had an Audi Q3 and got rid of it for the Kia Telluride. The Audi was rough, loud, and the technology was lacking. The Kia is smoother, quieter, has more technology and is more user friendly. Definitely impressed by Kia
what you got rid of an Audi for a kia? because the Audi was louder? your full of it bro.. more tech than Audi you must have been driving an older entry level model of an Audi. My '15 has a slew of featured and tech. so I really don't know what your blabbing about.. your so full of it..
Ru Be well for the price the Kia has way more option then the Q3, also had to have MMI replaced in the it had to have coils and plugs changed on it and that was in the first year. The Audi was a 2017 purchased brand new.
At the time of this video, 3 months after initial launch, The SX w/Presitige is sold out for the 2020 model year with pre-orders full at a 4-6 month wait time. At the mid-size volume dealership I am at, 70% of the inventory is purchased before it arrives, the remaining 30% sells within 48 hours of arriving at the dealership. That trend has actually been improving since launch, as none of our first 15 Tellurides were presold. Also, not a single one has been discounted, only manufacturer rebates. Despite that, no complaints from customers. In this day and age of new car sales, with online info, that is almost unheard of. It is quite honestly 8k underpriced. The Telluride has nearly the same equipment on the entry level, as a 60k+ Buick Enclave. Anyone who trashes this vehicle, is a badge snob, who is too emotional to take car advice from.
Yes, but now I see them being marked up considerably at dealerships. So Kia makes a good vehicle, at a great price point, and Kia dealerships immediately start to ruin it.
I had the same mentality 6-7 years ago. I’ve owned my Kia xl Sorento 2014 for 6 years now. I will probably get that telluride. Never regretted buying my Kia.
I would buy it in a heartbeat, but... I am still loving my 2010 Kia Soul. It has 230,000 miles and I have only provided regular maintenance and replaced the alternator & battery. Of the 27 cars I have owned, it is holding up the best.
I almost did not buy a Sedona because "it was a KIA" but I am glad we did. I think both Kia and Hyundai of the last 5 years are the most underrated vehicles on the market. As a family we have had 4 Hyundai and one Kia now and have loved them all. Our Sante Fe was totaled in a 47 MPH front on collision and nobody was hurt. Great cars.
That is amazing, Todd..!!! We have been huge fans of Hyundai....I have an Elantra & my partner had a Sonata (2009) until Oct. Of 2017 when it got 't-boned' by a Ford F150 DOING B'TWEEN 45-50 mph. The side airbags deployed & actual impact was the left-rear door.....it was definitely totalled & , in my opinion , if it hadn't been a Hyundai Sonata , he would have possibly been paralyzed or even dead. A few months earlier than that , I WAS REAR-ENDED in my Elantra (2017) by a Land Rover DOING ABOUT 35-40 on impact.....given the fact that my " bluberry" was less than a year old ( delivery date 08/16) the insurance co. paid for the body work.....which still isn't quite right. I was advised by the auto body guy that the Elantras are rated to withstand a rear impact OF UP to 42mph before it is considered totalled in any given accident.....We replaced THE Sonata with a 2015 Nissan Altima.....now, our only worries with it is ; when is the CVT going to 'give out'...ha,ha,ha....Love the Hyundais...GREAT CARS..!!! VERY UNDERRATED.
Here are some of the accolades the Telluride won from some of the nation’s top organizations: 1. MotorTrend - SUV of the Year 2. KBB - Best New Model and Best 3-Row Midsize SUV. 3. Car and Driver - 10Best Trucks and SUVs 4. Edmunds - Top Rated SUV As for the brand itself, it was named the number one non-luxury automotive brand for Initial Quality by J.D. Power not just for 2019, but 5 years in a row. Also, Kia has more vehicles with Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick Plus ratings than any other brand from IIHS.
Slade Martin got one today... Haven’t drove it much but my wife is happy. You can take this same vehicle and put a Benz emblems front and people will line up to pay 60-80K. To not buy it because it’s made by Kia is crazy!
Way better than any Jeep. That one journalist claiming the car is loud was lying. Women seem to care more about the badge than men. My wife felt the same way until she drove the KIA. We were always a Honda family and now we’re a KIA family. She loves this SUV. We moved from a Honda Pilot. I purchased the 2019 KIA Stinger GT2 last week and if this car had a BMW or Audi badge, the starting price would be 70K. Average buyers don’t know or care that the longtime award winning Audi designer, Peter Shrier works for Hyundai, KIA, and Genesis. The BMW engine tuning legend, Albert Bierman also works on all three brands. This isn’t the old KIA and I don’t understand why they don’t change the corporate name and logo. They lose buyers like your wife due to KIA’s past and deservingly poor reputation.
The reputation is the biggest issue. Im Korean and have this stigma with Korean manufacturers after driving a 2007 KIA Sportage that had too many problems. I was looking at the newer KIAs recently after some good reviews but my wife was adamant about getting a new BMW X3. She would not even give KIA or Hyundai a test drive because she wanted the "luxury" brand even if we have to pay the luxury prices.
seoulstice85 Like I said, many women care about the badge. One of our female friends bought a BMW X4 yesterday, even though they really can’t afford it. We do well and can comfortably buy or lease any car without a Ferrari or Lamborghini badge.:) My wife didn’t want a BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover etc., like virtually every other man or woman in our neighborhood. With the X3 if you want real leather seats or any other features you’d get in a Honda or KIA, the price goes up exponentially. It’s a badge and that means a lot to some people. We’re comfortable in our own skin and have no need to impress others with our cars. Our home and other assets are more important...including putting our kids through college, so they won’t take in any debt. It’s all about priorities.
I am always amazed by the notion of brand loyalty, brand loyalty should be done by brand being loyal to their customers, offering long term reliability n good products.
Even as a diehard Toyota fan I love how competitive Kia products have become in such a remarkably short period. They really throw some compelling options into the mix for buyers to consider.
Captain Caveman LOL Dunning-Kruger effect is not specific to fans of Toyota as you have clearly just demonstrated. Thank you for the remarkably creative response and the laugh...much appreciated!
I understand your wife, when my husband said he wanted a Kia I was very skeptical. But when I test drove it and saw that interior and all the technology, I was stunned. We test drove a Infiniti QX50 and 60 but they are just way out priced. So he and the Telluride convinced me. We've had the XS Sangria for a couple days now and I'm in love with my new Telluride. I hope your wife will give it a chance.
I've had 1 Sedona mini-van and I'm on my second Sorento( 2011 L & 2017 EX) and I really am pleased with it. I have not regretted my purchases. We are now considering the Telluride or the newly designed 2021 Sorento. KIA is now a major player with great service if you need it. Not ideal, but my 2011 Sorento had developed an issue with shifting at 64,000 miles. Took it to KIA dealer and found problem was with gears. Replaced the entire transmission, put me into loaner car( brand new Sedona SX ), ZERO out of pocket expense. I know it would have been better to have never had this problem, but it can happen to all makes and models.
Danny Y Lim , I agree with you. I’ve sat in it a few times, but have not driven it. The only reason I’m not in one right now, is because of the job situation. I’ve been with AA for 30 years. Doing big layoffs. Need to wait a bit for things to settle down. I should be ok, but......
First off, great review as always. Second, it's a shame in 2019 people still have a problem with Hyundai and Kia products. They have some of the most dependable vehicles. Factor in the great warranty. No brainer!
I have a 2011 KIA Sorento SX that hasn't given me an ounce of trouble despite putting 140,000 miles on it. I love the way it looks and how reliable it is. I don't know where or why the KIA bashing is coming from....could it be because it's a Korean made vehicle???? Just bought my 17 year old daughter a 2019 Optima SX Turbo....loving that vehicle too!! We also have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2015 Ford Escape Titanium.
It's because stupid people think Kia are the same kia from 2000 like hello people were in 2019 and Kia has entered the big boy's ring. And I'm a Honda fan and Also acknowledge toyota as their reliabity. It's a matter of time before kia/hyndai gets into the playing field of Honda and toyota
I own an independent automotive repair shop. I fix all makes and models. I’m very impressed by the vehicles that Hyundai and Kia are producing. Not too long ago their cars were cheap crap. They’ve continuously improved their products each year. Now they build very good vehicles. I’d take a new Kia or Hyundai over a new domestic vehicle any day!
Are you sure? - many years ago , I bought a six cylinder Kia Sportage and it was arguably the best car I've ever purchased..... Far better than the newer models I've since test driven..! Not sure, I believe the hipe!
Just bought mine and love it. Fully loaded SX AWD Exterior same as this, got it with the brown interior. Very roomy comfortable ride and I'm 6'2". Kids love it baby seat fits perfectly. Already got 2k miles on it. So far so good.
@@tiarraswsher3930 Yep. I live in Northern California, ive driven it down to Los Angeles twice. Very comfortable seats and with all the driver assist features it almost drives itself.
I drover one Saturday. I'm very impressed with this SUV. Tight handling, good acceleration, seats are comfortable the technology is impressive. Its definitely not a KIA of old...
I have to tell anyone, that not giving the Kia a chance, is a big mistake. Most definitely more reliable than a Jeep. Have owned two Kia SUV's, and both of them were awesome vehicles. Great warranties! Yes, I am somewhat of a brand snob, but I have changed! Kia "The Power to Suprise," or something like that!
Actually being the first to buy a Kia Telluride is a mistake without sufficient time to test Reliability and resale value... Too many Features, gimmicks and gadgets make a vehicle unreliable...
They haven't been out long enough to be reliable ahahahha... 2013 highlander with interior looking brandnew and no issues and 150k+ is reliable not a 3 months old telluride that someone paid 54k fully loaded for and will be worth 20k or less in 2 years...
@@persaud101 My wife has a 2008 Highlander with 185k miles on it. I really like the Telluride but like you mentioned, it's not going to hold it resale value like a Toyota. My wife also is scared of the KIA name(smh).
Check out all the outdated opinions in comments below! Blah blah blah, Kia is a crap brand, etc. It’s not 2001 people. Kia is a top rated brand and has been proven and tested over time as reliable. Top five brand in Consumer Reports for years. And depreciation? It’s the same as other brands, except maybe Toyota and Lexus.
It MIGHT be comparable to some brands such as Toyota and Honda when talking imports but it does not come close to being on the level of a Acura, Infiniti, Audi or Lexus. Even the Hyundai Palisade is going to be a nicer vehicle with a more luxurious trim level and higher msrp. Kia has elevated itself over the past decade but it is still a Kia compared to the top dogs in that segment.
I have a 2009 Kia Borrego/Mohave . Kias are amazing cars and they've only gotten better since 2009. I've had zero issues. Solid vehicle. I'm getting a telluride hopefully next year. Very reliable make.
Some people putting down Kia quality but that was ten years ago, I'm old enough to remember when Honda and Toyota sucked too. Kia wouldn't give you 100K of warranty if they sucked, they would lose a fortune in repair cost. That's why american cars are still only doing 3yrs/36K.
@NuVue You shouldn't believe everything you see on TV. Those were just a couple years, on a couple models with faulty wiring harnesses. Just like the narrative they catch on fire, I've seen 10's of thousands come through service, haven't seen or heard of single one that caught on fire. News says bad Motors, when reality is just an owner who never changes oil. That's like saying all Toyotas are dangerous because of the Tanaka Airbags, sounds legit cause you saw it on the news, but isn't the total clear picture of reality. If it was true why would Kia/Hyundai be the only new car manufacturers up in volume this year?
Why are people shitting on this thing? cause its a KIA? How many recalls has ford had on its explorer? Not to mention KIA has a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, they should have offered this thing with a turbo V6 though
Seriously, whoever is complaining havent had a look at Ford Explorers and all of their issues.. plus is only a 3/36000 warranty because guess what, after that your vehicle goes downhill
I have a 2000 Honda and I’ve had it for 19 yrs. We are a Honda family and have been loyal to that brand. However, the Honda Pilot would not have worked unless we got the Touring. The price for that suv was right up there with a luxury suv. Came across another review on the Telluride so I checked them out. It took us about a month to pull the trigger (mostly because the dealerships couldn’t keep them in stock). I love my new Telluride it looks and feels like a luxury vehicle. My family fits comfortably. Kia now has a forever warranty on the motor, transmission and axle. To keep this warranty you just have to make sure you’re keeping up with maintenance. I’m a stickler for that so it will work for us.
I’m guessing his wife in early 40’s which would be old enough to have lived through the days when Hyundai/Kia were sub par products. If this was 5 years ago a lot of people were embarrassed to drive one of these cars if they were used to mainstream brands. This is an excellent car lol and I agree with this guy
We leased our first Kia, the Nero for 4 yrs. The fuel economy is great and we are overall happy with the car. My husband went ahead and purchased a Kia Forte GT for his work commute. He got a fully loaded 2020 Forte GT, which includes custom paint and remote starter, nice rims, large touch screen, heated seats, smart cruise and headlights, lumbar support seats with heat and fan for $22K. The dealer gave us a great deal and he was very happy with it. Now the lease on our Nero is coming to an end. Recently, we went to the car show. We went to look at the Telluride, I thought it was very nice. However, after looking at the Hyundai Palisade, in comparison, the Palisade looked and felt more posh than the Telluride. The fully loaded Telluride is in the $46K range, while the Palisade limited is also in the same range. However, the Palisade limited offers a fully digital dash with camera video for right and left lane switching, over dash digital display (on your windshield) and the finishes throughout the inside and outside of the vehicle are very high end. Kia is the sister co of Hyundai so they both offer the 100K mile warranty. I also like the space under the center console in the Palisade, which can be used for purse storage. In summary, though I like Kia and have never been a fan of Hyundai, I have to go with the Palisade on this. We were originally thinking about going with an MB GLC class, simply because I thought if we were going to spend over 40K on a car, we might as well go with a high end manufacturer, but having every possible comfort and safety feature you can think of for 46K is too good of a deal to pass up. Both the Telluride and the Palisades are nice cars, but if you’re looking for high end finishes and feel- the Palisades is the way to go.
Veey informative. Note: the Telluride now offers left and right side camera views in the screen between the odometer and speedometer. It was the biggest knock against Kia but they've addressed and fixed it now. Thanks for sharing your insight
derek flint Hmm, I would think it’s the other way around- with the Telluride being the BMW equivalent. Well, I have to say that we test drove the Palisade. Personally, I didn’t feel comfortable in it. Not because of space, I just thought it was just too big of a car for me and way too many buttons to deal with. We decided to test drive the MB GLB. First, I don’t have to climb into the car cause it’s at the right height for me. Second, the rear leg room is fantastic. Third, the fact that I don’t have to lean forward to access the touch screen, due to the mouse pad in the center console is a huge plus for me. Fourth, even though not really for adult passengers, having the third row seat option, while not having to get into a larger class car is really great. Lastly, the handling is fantastic and the MB voice command options is very cool (like a Siri). So, that’s what we’ve decided to go with. The GLB is just a much better car, given that it’s about same price range as the Palisade and Telluride.
derek flint Haha- yeah, at the height you def need all the room you can get! I leased a Kia Niro when they first came out. I was happy with it. Just need more interior room now. For my hubby, the Kia Forte GT or whatever, provided a lot of tech options combined with good mileage . He purchased the 2020 last October. He’s the type that keeps a car for 20 yrs. I prefer leasing. I have no qualms with the Telluride, but I just don’t see spending $47-8K on a Kia or Hyundai. That’s just me.
I'm 6'7" tall, and this is the most comfortable vehicle I've sat in that doesn't rub my head or keep me from stretching my legs. Actually, that's not entirely true - I went with the Palisade Limited because the seats are slightly more comfortable and some of the other features are better such as the fully digital instrument gauge cluster. They were both at the top of my list. The Highlander/Pilot/Expeditions are too small for me (either head hits the roof or legs can't straighten under the brake pedal). First KIA/Hyundai for me so I was a little nervous about the brand, but the South Koreans are really giving Japan a run for their money!
h3yy4ll I want to go drive both of those. I’m 6’3”. Being tall you know why I mean if I ask about the center console as it hits the side of your right leg. Is that uncomfortable at all in the Telluride or Pallasade?
One correction, not the biggest KIA. We have a 2009 Borrego V8, that is as big or bigger. Has over 180k miles on it, never an issue. Just change oil and routine maintenance. Kias are awesome vehicles, very reliable and you get so much more for your money. The Telluride is better looking and has more amenities than our Burrego, might be time to trade up!
I'm not sure why people think KIA isn't reliable. I bought a 2011 sorento in 2010 and it's still running just fine. We haven't had to replace much on it, just things that would normally have to be replaced by now. It has around 200k miles and is still going strong.
I have a 1991 BMW with 502,000 miles and all I've replaced is an alternator. When you get to the big leagues of reliability let me know. 8 years old isn't a measure of reliability.
Igniz everyone has a perfectly reliable bmw with 103847398 miles when you ask them, but they’re known as being money pits. Someone is lying here, and repair costs don’t.
It's over 9 years old and has only had minimum maintenance and a few basic parts replaced (that would have had to be replaced anyway). It still works perfectly fine. BMW is known to be a money pit...car salesman refer to them as "break my wallet" for that reason.
People really need to get over themselves. Nobody is "too good" to drive a car based off of the brand name. Nobody actually cares what you're driving. If it does what you need it to do, just buy the damn car - it's truly just an appliance.
You might want to think it works like that, BUT the reality is .... it's NOT! People DO care what they are driving, people DO care how it looks, people DO care what others think about them etc. If it wasn't like that - everyone will buy ugly cars or minivans since they are most versatile and comfortable for the job. Yet, people like SUVs, people like reliability (Toyota), people like luxury brands, people like to drive prestige cars (take Porsche etc). Most importantly - people dont like to be associated with cheap brands bruh - Kia is one of cheapest brands nowadays. Possibly worst brand image wise. Ugly front design of Telluride doesnt'help either - it's a Kia Soul on steroids lol. Same design - many noticed lol. Hence why people are saying Telluride is no bueno. Folks are still going to buy Highlanders and some other expensive SUVs. Telluride will have its market among plebs, so no worries. Everyone gets what they deserve or what they can afford lol.
@@azerogliev6520 maybe in your area. Hope you step up the way you think. Be confident and proud of yourself, then car brand won't affect you as much. Me, myself, used to own BMW E46 M3, Infiniti G35 Coupe, M5s, 440i Convertible, and now with Kia Telluride.. I'm so happy with my purchase. I could get a BMW X7 but then I realized after all that research and test drives, it's not worth to pay that much more at all unless your household income is so high that it doesn't affect much on your transportation budget. For you? Idk. But I don't think so.
I used to think bad about Kia until my grandfather bought his 2015 Sorento. It has been a great car and still going strong. Other grandfather bought a 2018 Cadenza. It is a true luxury car.
My sister drives a Kia Sorrento and lived on the side of a mountain. She loves it and it has taken them back & forth from northern Cali to Texas many times. Instead of rumors y’all need to talk to someone sho drives the car.
Drove from NJ to VA with mountains in my 17 Sorento V6 AWD, got 28mpg when the car is rated for 23mpg. Pretty consistent with gas mileage on the hway. I just don't need the size of the Telluride.
I own a 2006 KIA Sportage I bought brand new. Just replaced the factory alternator & it’s the first “major” repair I’ve had to do aside from tires & oil changes. Kia really has come a long way. I’d buy another.
"It's still a Kia" comment is a shallow, growth stunted mindset steeped in brand ignorance and low resonance thinking. You swallowed savy marketing. Because you struggle with your Identity, you run to overpriced, unreliable, German vehicles because of the emblem. Why is a Genesis G70 now considered by experts as better than a BMW? The Koreans are playing hardball. They have hired industry lead ing engineers and designers, too. Albert Biermann is dope. Your perception will catch up eventually, but gathering data is essential for waking up.
Charles Brown unfortunately some ignorant people still view the “ badge” as more important than the performance , price and technology . Fortunately the people with common sense notice that KIA is building cars to a higher standard than the subpar vehicles of their past while maintaining a great price . Let those sheep spend extra 20-30k for a badge. Intelligence can not be bought but a shiny “ BMW “ can for those who lack it .
I had a Kia Optima and LOVED it! I love Kia. I never had any issues with mine. Other than PM which should be done anyway if you're a responsible, car owner. My next car will be one of these! Converted my husband too!! Opened up his eyes to the value of thinking outside the box about cars. My KIA waa from 10 years ago and I never understood what people were bitching about. Take care of your stuff and treat your car well and there arent issues. Really not hard. Ya know?
The recent BMW 3 Series is considered inferior in its engineering capabilities by all top journalists compared with the Genesis G70. That car was brilliantly engineered by former BMW M division engineers Albert Biermann and Thomas Schemera
Agreed, it's all about the value proposition. I've had the badges and paid the maintance costs associated with them - just not going down that road again. The Telluride and Palisade offer a great deal in this space. One can simply ignore the value proposition and more power to you if you prefer the "badges".
I own the 2020 Telluride EX and I LOVE it. Comfortable, roomy, tons of standard options on it. Great on trips. My daughter owns a 2016 Sorento SX and she loves it as well. Absolutely never had an issue with a KIA. When they first came out they were awful but things has drastically improved.
My wife has a 2015 Kia Sedona , we both love it, Kia has warranties that are better than others which made me a little more comfortable with Kia brand. Telluride looks awesome!
I'm on my third Kia and my 2019 Sedona EX is one of the most amazing and comfortable vehicles I've ever owned and I've had Buick, Chrysler, Toyota, Acura BMW, and Mercedes. So... I would tell anyone 2 things one don't sleep on Kia and 2, anyone thinking about it with kids... MINIVANS ARE AWESOME and the Sedona is the best of them! It and the Telluride are almost always sold out!
@@britt2607 Well I've been driving since I was 13 and I'm 40 now. I've tended to buy the cars I've wanted when I've had the the ability to and have been able to own several at a time. I have 4 now in fact ... An Explorer, A Camary, a Fusion, and a Sedona
Me and my wife both agreed on a 2020 Kia Forte Gt-Line and we absolutely love it! We dropped the ego and looked the other way from Honda, Mazda, Toyota etc.
i have owned 5 Kia's already starting with the 2009 Sorento that i drove for 200k miles without an issue then traded it for a 2016 Sorento which i also got 200K miles out of then my wife jumped on the band wagon and got a 2013 Soul which she drove for 87K miles but wanted the new body style and new color so she bought the 2016 Soul and it now has 178K miles i just traded the 2016 Sorento for the Telluride S its a great SUV i wont buy anything but a Kia because of value and reliability
Kia/Hyundai, the BEST and MOST RELIABLE vehicles you can buy! Still driving my 2009 Hyundai Sonata I bought new over 11 years ago. Never a problem and runs just like the day I bought her! Doesn't handle as well as my 2005 or perhaps even 1998 Camry did, both bought new but the car Sonata LITERALLY runs and drives like the day I bought it over 11 years ago, it is RIDICULOUS! It's not just how reliable they are, they are just so well engineered and thought out. The Sonata can go well over 200,000 miles, and I am talking 2000+ model year!
Well if I was your wife, I’d have said “Yes”. I’ve never considered KIA until now and almost gave up due to the stigma. I did some research and test driving, and this vehicle rocks. My husband bought the top level trim 4 Runner last week, but since I ordered a Telluride today, I think he’s scheming how he’s going to borrow it from me, because it’s sharp.
I'm not a KIA fan but many of you who are saying that Korean cars are junk are not basing this on facts. Genesis, Kia, Hyundai again rank highest in J.D. Power quality scorecard
Amen! My Girl said the same thing. We bought the Kia and we have not been disappointed. The warranty the price. U can't beat it!!!! Im a Chevy Guy. But for the family we made the switch.. KIA my go to. The price features and warranty just beats the competitor's point blank.
J Alvarez how much did you pay?? Our dealer wanted me to pay 54k for it! Screw them...I won’t over pay for the suv! I didn’t want to buy a Kia... but was open to it until they tried ripping me off. Nope! On to the next... I am probably going to by a used 2018-19 Porsche Cayenne , I’ll enjoy driving my older Porsche then dealing with their horrible service and I’ve heard about their warranty.... it sucks.
Kia knocked this one out of the park. I really like it. I am waiting to see how it does reliability wise, for a year, and if they are still good, it will be my next vehicle. Thanks for the review.
Just ordered mine in EX trim. I really wanted the SX trim but unfortunately it doesn't come with a middle bench seat, only captains chairs which are nice but we need the option for the kids and the rear seats down. I was disappointed but we were able to get most of the SX options -the rear moonroof. Fantastic vehicle and cant wait to take it home.
Trust me I never thought I would be looking at a Kia but every list I read it was top-rated, so we decided to go take a look at it and we were sold! Got the SX Prestige AWD model in white.
I totally agree, I’m on my second Kia and I’ve been very pleased. I bought a 2018 Kia Soul at the end of 2017. All leather, sport turbo package, and a panoramic moonroof. Great car! I just traded it for the new Kia Forte GT. Not to mention all the warranties. Kia has definitely stepped up their game
I've had 4 Kia vehicles. They are as reliable as a vehicle can be. Over 350,000 miles on two of them. One was wrecked and totaled by a friend but never had an issue with that one, either. I gave my daughter my 2015 Forte because I wanted her to have a reliable vehicle.
How did you make these cars last long? Did you drive slow,,,, all the time? Did you break in the engine properly? Was the car warmed up fully? How did you do it?
I was hesitant to buy a Kia, but I love my Telluride. I was going between the Telluride and the Palisade. They both had features that are neck and neck. As a Wrangler owner my husband said that the Palisade looks like most other 3 rows, and the Telluride just looks cooler. I get lots of complements on the looks of the vehicle. Would defiantly recommend the Telluride! Thank you for you information on all the vehicles.
Psst, just traded in my 02 Liberty to a 2019 Atlas. I still have my 09 Liberty (and it's lifted, skid plates, rock rails and all, 32inch tires, front steel bumper w/winch). Now, I'm not good at math but I think they BOTH lasted past that 8 year mark. But hey, I have a lifetime warranty on the eng, tranny and drivetrain (09) so Guess I'll keep it awhile. ;-)
Telluride is a great name for this. But, loaded, at 46K, I would never spring for it. But, that's just me. I love what KIA is doing. I drove 2015/2016 Sorento a few years back, and, man - what a nice comfortable ride, and - as an SUV - it drove more like a car. Ultimately, we were shopping for my wife's chariot, and she liked the Santa Fe - so ended up buying that (meh). BTW, Dave - I can't believe the Mrs. is loyal to Jeep / Chrysler. They make awful, unreliable cars, IMHO. :)
The most popular one we currently have is the S trim at $35k The EX is at $38.5k The LX is the least popular at $33k. They see the S model and move away from the LX almost immediately. We've asked the owner to not buy any LX's... Not what the clientele want. They love the S and EX SX is great , but will take up to 10 days on the lot. S and EX...no longer than 3 days.
speterbilt You can get a top of the line AWD PREMIER Chevy Blazer for $45k. and it will come with GM’s tried and proven reliable 3.6 L V6 engine that will run forever and not self destruct and explode on the highway like the KIA/Hyundai engines have been lately. You can get a 2019 Chevy Blazer RS AWD for even cheaper than that. I believe around $43k. Gotta tell the whole story, bro. 🤦🏽♂️
This was awesome. Best product review that I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. I’m considering the Telluride car for my family and everything you’ve showed including the illustration of seating and cargo capacity from the Goodyear run was perfect. I loved your style of narrative, it was so relatable and a great value proposition/pitch. Also, loved the shout out TX t shirt and the 90’s playlist on XM. Your video Rules! Ride on Cowboy.
My wife was like "I wouldn't buy a Hyundai". After I bought the 2019 Santa Fe Ultimate 2.0 AWD she is always talking about how amazing my car is. Buy the Telluride!
Have a 2012 Kia Sorento v4 has 100k miles on it. Only changed shock absorbers and engine belt. $350 total. Everything else is good. They only getting better
My wife had a 2002 Kia Sportage. She got into a accident and it was totaled. Never had any issues with it what so ever! Would definitely look at the Telluride!!! 10 year 100 K warranty...
Hi Dave. I like your new format. Conversing with the audience not just following the same bread and butter format as all other UA-cam car journalists do. Keep up the great work as always.
@@itsnick37 For engines and drive trains of trucks and SUVs. Out of the Detroit big 3? Yes, their cars have issues, and they didn't push the bar with the explorer but when you wake up in the morning, get in your ford truck or SUV, its going to start. And drive. Chevy and Chrysler have embraced planned obsolescence to the worst degree. Ford has done better. So yes, I stand by my statement. I hate fords. I think they're ugly and not as fun to drive. But they are more reliable. Period.
@@rankin1779 that's in reference to an f- series truck only. Yes, they do have electrical issues that affect the accessories but drive train wise out of the three major American manufacturers an f series will last the longest. If reliability is the metric you go by there's really only 3 "good" options, a bunch of mediocre, but most of them are planned obsolescence rolling heaps. Ford may barely make it into the mediocre territory for me, as I said back in college, Cs get degrees too so I begrudgingly admit that they technically meet my standards...... barely........
I wasn't sure about the Kia, but I fell in love with the Telluride, and it is everything that he mentioned in the video. So many great features, and the drive is very smooth. I Love it.
Kia is even offering 125k mile bumper to bumper warranties on the the telluride and that's as good as a Toyota warranty. Just because it's a Kia doesn't mean anything. Kia is the 5th most reliable car brand, Honda and Jeep are nowhere near.
Kia's reputation will improve. Remember the problems that Audi had in the late 80's with their transmissions? Very few folks wanted to drive them for a while.
My wife said the same thing - this is KIA. We also been looking to step up from CRV. I've been eyeballing this one for a while. Need to do test drive. Thank you for the review.
We got the telluride 2 months ago. We loved it. And when we go out people come to us and ask about the car all the time. My husband got so proud of it, and recommend it to all. Lol
"Brand loyalty" is one of the most unusual human traits in consumerism. People should spend their money on the product that does the most for their needs for the right price point. Doing so rewards the more innovative and creative companies (at the time you spend) and encourages their competition to improve their product. It makes all companies in a market get better (or die out, deservedly). Brand loyalty only makes sense if you are holding stock, or work for the company, otherwise your loyalty is just "free money" for them. Pay the people that innovate for you!
Thank you for doing this review, your style and presentation is awesome. I’m the same height and I’m really considering this as my next vehicle. Awesome review man!
I work for the Kia manufacturing plant in west point Georgia the only plant in the world that makes these. Quality control is second to none these cars are awesome! They are selling as soon as they hit the dealer so you guys can hate but they are selling out every where! We basically can’t keep up with the demand for them plus like he said you can’t beat that ten year 100,000 mile manufacture warranty best on the market!
Spooky Zooki it seems that there is always the hot CUV year to year. It was the Atlas then the Subaru Ascent. Next year it could be the redesigned X, new that. I’d rather buy a vehicle that’s been out of 2-3 years to judge value and reliability.
appleiphone69 true. We are actually about to produce an all new design on the sorento and the optima too soon. I’ve gotten word that the optima is suppose to look a lot like the stinger!
can I just say, Kia's are made to last as well. my last one I had for 14 years, zero maintenance problems until 2 years ago, and the alternator went out. love love loved my kia! was going to go for the sorento, but after seeing this video, I'm saving up for this one instead. thanks!
If she doesn't want it Dave, then buy it for yourself and she will use it! I agree, the Kia name is not prestigious, but, nowadays, it's about value for money. Booyah!
I agree. The 2021 telluride is the first car that makes you value your moneys worth with the tech/specs you're getting over a base model of a luxury brand that's more than half the price!

My wife just got one a few weeks ago. The damn thing is amazing. She loves it. Kia out did themselves on this one.
It’s not snobbery if a brand has a track record. For most consumers, this is the second biggest buy they make after property. What happens down the line when it’s out of warranty? If it’s a dud, used Kias are not in high demand. You know the Pilot will retain good value if you want to flip it.
@@timbento how many SUVs do you know carry a 10 yr 100k mile warranty?
Thomas fedorka are Korean auto makers offering it out of generosity? It’s bait.
Should start changing out any parts that use rubber bit by bit as preventative maintenance, if you haven't yet.
They are very reliable cars.
Kia is like that one kid in middle school who was bullied and/or no one ever talked to. Now Kia is all grown up and everyone is talking about em.
I owned a 2103 Sorento for 6 years and 105,000 miles. It’s a great car with no issues. I traded for a Telluride S model and love the vehicle. Kia did a nice job all around.
Never thought id buy a Kia but now i have a Telluride SX in my garage. Super quiet, great value, lots of tech.
same!! I love my SX!
Take advantage of the fact that the brand name is allowing this vehicle to priced so affordably, because in a few years when people realize it's just as reliable as the other manufacturers, the price will go up
the kia and hyundai being less reliable is from the 90s and early 2000s when they were truly producing dome shitboxes. not so much anymore.
@TableRocked Buick Regal GS is actually pretty cool. Otherwise, yeah
Yes, but now I see them being marked up considerably at dealerships. So Kia makes a good vehicle, at a great price point, and Kia dealerships immediately start to ruin it.
Here is how you fix your wife: Get a bunch of Land Rover badges from ebay, and replace the Kia ones. Problem solved.
You’re the first person to actually show a car seat in the vehicle. THANK YOU!!
Here are some of the accolades the Telluride won from some of the nation’s top organizations:
1. MotorTrend - SUV of the Year
2. KBB - Best New Model and Best 3-Row Midsize SUV.
3. Car and Driver - 10Best Trucks and SUVs
4. Edmunds - Top Rated SUV
As for the brand itself, it was named the number one non-luxury automotive brand for Initial Quality by J.D. Power not just for 2019, but 5 years in a row.
Also, Kia has more vehicles with Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick Plus ratings than any other brand from IIHS.
Not to mention Consumer Reports listed the Telluride as the best vehicle on the market. Got my Black EX on Saturday. I love it.
Slade Martin literally between this and the palisade!!!! Im nervous
Slade Martin got one today... Haven’t drove it much but my wife is happy. You can take this same vehicle and put a Benz emblems front and people will line up to pay 60-80K. To not buy it because it’s made by Kia is crazy!
Season1 better2 great! Built in usa!
We just got our Teluride SX last week. We traded my wife's Optima for this. She loves it. We got a Black Teluride with brown interior.
What’s the out the door price?
Not as much as I was hoping. $48,200. I have heard some dealers were asking over MRSP. I took our car to a broker. Got more than any dealer.
If you liked the Sorento..... you are going to LOVE the Telluride. Period.
Sturdy cars!
Love our Kia Telluride!! This is our 5th Kia. Never had a problem with the Fortes, Optima or Cadenza. All are still in great condition.
Nooo trader it in for a Honda Pilot it a lot better and will last a very long time even if you don’t keep it for that long it still won’t break down.

Love this one. We are a Kia family and will never change to another brand, they are amazing and so reliable.
It should be noted that the Telluride is currently the 2020 World Car of the Year.
Hey look, someone smart in the comment section. Thank you!
@NuVue, only Porsche, Lexus, BMW, Audi higher than Kia.
Why are people shitting on this thing? cause its a KIA? How many recalls has ford had on its explorer? Not to mention KIA has a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, they should have offered this thing with a turbo V6 though
This thing is absolutely amazing
Seriously, whoever is complaining havent had a look at Ford Explorers and all of their issues.. plus is only a 3/36000 warranty because guess what, after that your vehicle goes downhill
You act like this KIA does not have recalls?
I’m a stickler for that so
it will work for us.
As a Kia lover and owner of three
you wont regret buy a Kia never in your life, trust me .
220k trouble free Kia miles. We love them
I would take that Kia over a Chrysler product any day
I have KIA sorento 2011... Till now i faced no major problem...Although its now more than 480000km but still in a very good condition.
I have had 2014, 2016 and now 2019 Sorentos. My son has a 2018 Sportage and daughter has 2017 Soul. All have been excellent vehicles.
@@krusty9570 It's there but not at all uncomfortable like some vehicles I've been in. Definitely test drive both.
I'm 6'4 and reading this comment gives me hope... I like the look of the telluride so I'm going to focus on that
One correction, not the biggest KIA.
Kia sucks Honda is the best
I'm not sure why people think KIA isn't reliable. I bought a 2011 sorento in 2010 and it's still running just fine. We haven't had to replace much on it, just things that would normally have to be replaced by now. It has around 200k miles and is still going strong.
I have a 1991 BMW with 502,000 miles and all I've replaced is an alternator. When you get to the big leagues of reliability let me know. 8 years old isn't a measure of reliability.
@@SuperTig666 lol BMW.. reliability.. Idk what even to say..
Liam Nissan for real 😂 bmws are money pits , the new ones at least
@@kiwan5425 step up the way he thinks? This doesnt even make sense. The Telluride doesn't make any sense!
I have 2 Kias and like both. You get so much more for the money and they have stepped up their game. No more cheap material like in the past.
I used to think bad about Kia until my grandfather bought his 2015 Sorento. It has been a great car and still going strong. Other grandfather bought a 2018 Cadenza. It is a true luxury car.
my Sorento 2016 was driven by 153,000 miles and never had an issue.
The reason shows up at 7:40, for those of you like me who can't wait.
I purchased my wife a new Sorento SX Prestige X - Line AWD and she loves it, tell your wife Kia nowadays stands for “Killing It Again”
I have an Optima SX and it's awesome.
Why have you had so many cars? Seems pretty odd... unless you wreck them frequently?🤯
@@britt2607 Well I've been driving since I was 13 and I'm 40 now. I've tended to buy the cars I've wanted when I've had the the ability to and have been able to own several at a time. I have 4 now in fact ... An Explorer, A Camary, a Fusion, and a Sedona
C Sanders sweet!! Makes sense
I absolutely love this truck. You could replace the KIA badge with a luxury brand badge and nobody would question it.
Gil Gonzalez facts
just de-badge
Facts... People are just stuck on labels.
Youd have to put the luxury badges or else theyre gonna assume someone created a Franken-GMC....
Me and my wife both agreed on a 2020 Kia Forte Gt-Line and we absolutely love it! We dropped the ego and looked the other way from Honda, Mazda, Toyota etc.
Kia is owned partially by Hyundai and mine lasted 7 years with not one issue.
What happened after 7 years?
john doe i bought a larger newer one for a growing family. Of which I still own. Again problem free.
i have owned 5 Kia's already starting with the 2009 Sorento that i drove for 200k miles without an issue then traded it for a 2016 Sorento which i also got 200K miles out of then my wife jumped on the band wagon and got a 2013 Soul which she drove for 87K miles but wanted the new body style and new color so she bought the 2016 Soul and it now has 178K miles i just traded the 2016
Sorento for the Telluride S its a great SUV i wont buy anything but a Kia because of value and reliability
How can your husband _borrow_ it from you?
Isn't it both your vehicles?
I'm not a KIA fan but many of you who are saying that Korean cars are junk are not basing this on facts. Genesis, Kia, Hyundai again rank highest in J.D. Power quality scorecard
They definitely have come along way from their first couple of years.
I currently have a 2015 Kia Sorento. Once I saw the Telluride, I immediately decided this is what I want within the next 2 years.
Loyalty to Jeep? Guess she loves disappointment.
Trust me I never thought I would be looking at a Kia but every list I read it was top-rated, so we decided to go take a look at it and we were sold! Got the SX Prestige AWD model in white.
Cindy V what was your out the door cost?
I totally agree, I’m on my second Kia and I’ve been very pleased. I bought a 2018 Kia Soul at the end of 2017. All leather, sport turbo package, and a panoramic moonroof. Great car! I just traded it for the new Kia Forte GT. Not to mention all the warranties. Kia has definitely stepped up their game
I had the exact same reason as your wife for not buying it. But at the end I bought it. MAAAN what a Beast 😍😍😍
You bought the telluride in dxb? ..How does it drive? Do they have the same trim levels like in the US?
Shreyas Chandrashekhar it drives like no other SUV. As German SUVs.about the trims , yes in Dubai they have exactly the same trims in US
I've had 4 Kia vehicles.
Japanese > Chinese. No question.
@@liamnissanS2K But Kia is a Korean company and product.
They suck kia will never be on Toyota or Honda level even Chevy is better
Hoss Windu no one cares it a bad brand
I was hesitant to buy a Kia, but I love my Telluride. I was going between the Telluride and the Palisade. They both had features that are neck and neck. As a Wrangler owner my husband said that the Palisade looks like most other 3 rows, and the Telluride just looks cooler. I get lots of complements on the looks of the vehicle. Would defiantly recommend the Telluride! Thank you for you information on all the vehicles.
How has your telluride held up 2 years later? Thinking about getting one. You recommend?
Lol she complained about it being a KIA but yet want to buy piece of crap FCA product?!?! Good luck have that jeep last longer than 8 years.
I thought the same thing😂😂
The most popular one we currently have is the S trim at $35k
The EX is at $38.5k
The LX is the least popular at $33k.
They see the S model and move away from the LX almost immediately. We've asked the owner to not buy any LX's... Not what the clientele want.
They love the S and EX
SX is great , but will take up to 10 days on the lot.
S and EX...no longer than 3 days.
Good price. A fully loade chevy "blazer" is over $55k for chevy junk
speterbilt You can get a top of the line AWD PREMIER Chevy Blazer for $45k. and it will come with GM’s tried and proven reliable 3.6 L V6 engine that will run forever and not self destruct and explode on the highway like the KIA/Hyundai engines have been lately.
No.
"as all other UA-cam..."
Not all.
I hate to admit it but Kia/Hyundai are now in the same league as Toyota, Honda, and Ford for reliability.
Ford? Really dude no lol complete crap in recent years
@@itsnick37 For engines and drive trains of trucks and SUVs. Period.
So true bro it's as reliable as toyota or maybe more had hyundai and kia for years now i drive very rough but still it runs smooth every day :'D
Did you just put ford in the same sentence with Toyota and Honda dude you trippin
The SUV of the year 2020. Triple Crown. Better than any japanese brands.
We got the telluride 2 months ago. We loved it. And when we go out people come to us and ask about the car all the time. My husband got so proud of it, and recommend it to all. Lol
Let us know how it holds up after a few more years.
BBQ Nut nope, all gone
Who cares how’s it holds it if you have 10 yrs warranty! This car is awesome. 👽
Notice past tense : "we loved it"
So is it gone? 😂😂
Pay the people that innovate for you!
it's only making more sense if ever companies be loyalty to consumers.
I’ve gotten word that the optima is suppose to look a lot like the stinger!
can I just say, Kia's are made to last as well. my last one I had for 14 years, zero maintenance problems until 2 years ago, and the alternator went out. love love loved my kia! was going to go for the sorento, but after seeing this video, I'm saving up for this one instead. thanks!
Love my kia! I have a 2011 sportage with 140,000 and its still going strong!
Pilots are good but Tellurides just seem like a much better value all around.
So many people reviewing cars. Not many are even watchable. You are great at it.
I felt the same way once upon a time, but then I became a fiscally responsible adult.
Kia is 100x better than Jeep !! Don’t let the wife pick cars - horrible choice for that $$. KIA is the best SUV in class by far. Put some pants on. 😂
