Love this trick. I fell in love with this trick back in the early 2000’s like 2002 2003 because this random guy moved into my apartments and I was only a few years into my skate career and he had the nicest floating backside 180’s that he would do off this launch to losing dock that I just had to learn them just like he did. Love this trick. Simple but when done right SUPER effective!
@@zaketenyu1932 turn your shoulders in the opposite direction you want to spin. let's say you do a regular bs 180, then you turn your shoulders into fs direction and at the moment you pop, you quickly turn your shoulders into bs direction. so you can get more swing, than if you would keep your shoulders stiff. I'm not speaking english either. hope you understand what I mean :-P
It's great that you mentioned your arms. Everything counts. Sounds like you really thought about how this works. Plus, good looking arm motion adds style! All the best, Rich in Sweden!
Backside 180s are the best! I got my frontsides pretty easy after a few days, but I want to get my bs 180s BACK! I haven't skated in 20 years, and I'm almost there to getting this trick again!
I've gotten the funny looks you mentioned.. when teaching friends how to ollie without a board showing them how to pop jump slide. Lol great tutorial bro!
I went to this skatepark yesterday to check it out! Then get on UA-cam and see it in this video. They're doing renovations on the swimming pool, but unfortunately not the bowl. I prefer the pearsall park for the options. Just getting back into this
So funny, I was never able to do this trick for whatever reason; now 6 years later after starting to skate again I'm able to do it literally minutes after watching your video. Thanks dude!!
Great tips as always, back when I learned bs 180, as you said in the video, winding up the shoulder and even exaggerating the movement and throwing your arms around definetly helps a lot. I'd love to see a tutorial on inward heelflips, I've been trying to get this trick down for a long time, I can land it occasionally but never consistantly. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more content!
thanks for the tutorial man. I can bs 180 quite well but not consistently, and I usually don't turn my upper body enough (usually end up pivoting the last bit which is ridiculous if you have to pivot for a 180 haha). This helps a lot thinking about having to rotate your upper body before even popping.
I have been winding up my shoulders but I don't think I was winding them up enough, or maybe I was popping too early. I always try to wind up and pop when I am in the middle of turning, like basically when my stance is completely open and then I have to finish turning my shoulders....but it looks like when he does it, he has his shoulders turned way more than that before he actually does the ollie. I am gonna try that. Badass 180 dude thanks for the vid
God i can ollie, fs 180 pop shuv even kickflip (still landing only 3 of 10) and still i cant backside 180. Kind of embarrasing so today i will learn em
i try to practice my switch bs 180 because my body just has a mental block from doing it controlled. i can do it with a wind up but can control it like i can in my regular stance. any other excercises to strengthen my balance and my mechanics for my weaker switch side?
Sometimes if I try to wind up my shoulders too soon on this trick I don’t get great pop or I get like ghost pop also I have a hard time sliding my foot all the way up to the nose in this trick I can do them but I looks terrible
Man I struggle with this trick, I can fs 180 really well and comfortably even down drops but can’t back 180 for my life, it’s my uncomfortable way of turning so it’s hard to get the rotation for it
Landing facing backwards. Lots of air for a trick maybe better kept low and smooth rather than high and choppy with weight landing on front nose.. Good sketch effort
how to do them high tho... i mean regular and halfcab. i can do them every try but they are like no pop and shit. i can even do fullcab and back 360 (pretty constantly) but i cant do a solid back 180 xD pls help lol
This trick feels like genetics lol. I can scoop it and land it clean. I can do a normal ollie pop and turn 90% of the way, or i can do a normal pop and the board turns 100% of the way and my back foot lands 90% of the way there. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong with this trick.
People who can bs 180 can also heelflip and fs shuvit easier. It's the body favoriting one side over the other. I can easily kickflip, fs 180 and pop shove it but I struggle with the "opposite" tricks.
He says it’s about the winding of the shoulders, but doesn’t wind his shoulders at all. They are dead parallel with the board at the start of the trick every time.
@@SKATEHACKS I’m looking at you at 1:07, and that’s about as wound as you get before the pop, and I *do* see your lead shoulder come back behind you a little bit and your right arm come in front. But, to me anyway, it’s quite subtle. Maybe where I’m going wrong is I’m REALLY winding up. I have no issue turning 180 but my weight distribution is all messed up and I can never stay on my board. Anyway you have a sick bs 180 and thanks for the reply.
same but i can do frontside very good (pop and all). backs tho - i can do them every try but i don't understand how to do them high. like even 5 cm both trucks... i can see it in slomo but when i try it (its about sliding that front foot high?) i just do nothing xd

*winding up your arms really is the key for this trick*
that's the most important tip here.
everything else will follow with some practice

Dang, you got a nice BS 180!
Ben Milner this guy just has good style
I swear to GOD I can’t even get close to doing this trick but I can treflip EASY
i got kickflips before i got this trick lmao
me too i can hardflip but i cant do backside 180 wtf
Me too
Same.
I got backside flip better than backside 180
I suck at this trick. Thanks dude.

your back180s are so clean

Scoop is with the toes hanging off on back foot. Not doing that here, at all lol.

Amazing video. Really helps with specific problems
Try to get bs 180 hippie jumps down, the rest is doable
Idk why but I cant do them fluently. Whenever I do them I gotta Ollie and then turn late it works but it’s much more work any tips?

I learned them by going off the side of the bank at the skatepark about 2 feet off the ground. it gave me extra time to turn in the air.
