MY PATREON: / skatehacks Today's video talks about 5 beginner mistakes people make when first learning kickflips. Best to avoid these habits when learning them
1. Don't put feet too close together 1:23 2. Don't look forward too much 2:18 3. Don't touch your hands on the ground 3:01 4. Don't flick down 3:37 5. Don't separate pop and flip, make sure its synchronized 4:31
5 tips I have for better kickflip. 1)Look at the center of the board 2)shoulder parallel to board 3) lift back foot high enough to let the board flip. 4)Watch the flip 5)Stomp with most of your toe part of your foot when you see grip. That's what works for me and it looks like this guy does the same thing. Also for higher flips delay flick after you pop. 😉👍
I think that the most common mistake amongst people learning kickflips is that they lack the commitment to stay over the board after popping and flicking. That is to say, at some point there mind convinces their body not to wait for the rotation to finish and land and so they simply don't fully intend to land the trick in the first place.
just landed my first kickflip! what i've been doing wrong was I was flicking straight/down and could never get my front foot back on the board on time, so I started flicking upwards and it finally happened! got 2 today :-)
Can you make a video on fear? I think that that would help a lot of people. And it's awesome that you started uploading again. I'm always looking forward for your videos!
I've been putting my feet too close and kicking down. Thanks a lot for this man! Awesome editing and just pure easy-to-follow instructions. The amount of replays really helped me.
Already one of my favorite channels, and I just subscribed last night. I've been skating for a long time and you've helped me revisit and improve my kickflips a ton. Thanks man!
Good shit man. I’m over the garret ginner and revive bullshit. Trick tips never work but this helped. Definitely subbing, keep your vids like this dude this is awesome
Bro, Just getting back into skating after 18 years away. I could do kickflips before but this video helped me so much on getting a more advantageous foot position, and better catch. Thanks a million dude. I subscribed.
Dude. I'm 1 min in and subbed. What you said about other people doing a ten + min vlog with the title/reason you clicked hidden somewhere on there is too true.
I like how you brought up the point of the frustration that some people have searching for good tutorials and then running into the problem of a vlog skater wasting your time with a suggestive title.
Same here, was pretty solid at these back 15y ago, now I can barely get half the rotation, only on a cheap thss complete ATM and only been back on deck for 2 weeks, will buy a decent one in a month if I don't kill myself from falling off, lol
I wouldn't say the best, because a lot of things were left out, like the psychology, location, and general technique. It's great for tips on not what to do, but he just skimmed over those things. For instance, he said never flick your front foot down, but never said the correct way, just showed himself doing kickflips "the wrong way" over again.
I've been skating since i was 8 years old, I must say great tutorial, clean flip , clean catch, the way it,s meant to be done ;) I'd add one thing though, nevaaah learn new tricks while standing still!! always try to be in motion even if it's only a little bit.
awesome as always , but i feel like u should cover a bit more advanced stuff. there is alot of beginner stuff but not much in the ways of starting to flip into grinds and other advanced tricks.
Would love to discuss kickflip smiths etc but I never get much demand for that. Mostly basic stuff. I'll start thowing those in here and there. Thanks for the support
I've been able to kickflip for almost a decade now but I'm still trying to perfect it. These tutorials can be beneficial from beginner to master I feel
I thought the same thing as Nos. Although it was 80 seconds its still frustrating for a passer by to hear any bullcrap. I do get that some vids are worse but it should be straight into it.
good tips, nice kickflips, i'm starting skateboarding again after an 8 year break and it really helped me getting my kickflips nice and high again , thanks !
Says the kid who literally has the worst profile pic of a terrible ass-shot at night of a badly-popped flip trick and no footy on his channel. I'm sure his kickflip is much better than yours. Seeing that he can actually tweak and do it on big shit
Kickflips are one singular synchronized fluid action. I didn't really learn anything new about kickflips here, but now I got an idea on how to do double and triple flips. You got a like, my man.
the best tips i ever seen for kickflips.. still struggle to do this but this video makes me understand my mistake. Thanks man, you got +1 sub :).. Keep making great tips video
just recently started skating again after years and turns out my back foot position screwed my kickflips when i was a kid for years!! closer to toe edge for me personally .... great video thanks man
man i used to have a good kickflip like you, but after 2 years of not skating i gotta learn it again haha i find this video really helpful, thank u so much, dude subscribed
This video helps a lot. Even though I've been on and off with skateboarding I still want to at least get the kickflip down. One of my problems was listed in this video and it's the "Flicking Down". I try my best to flick upwards and out but the ankle stays in the habit of flicking down. I commit when I do this trick, but that's just my biggest flaw in learning how to kickflip. If anyone's scared or nervous on landing the kickflip itself, I'd recommend doing the old school kickflip first so you'd get the feel on how to land after the board flipped. I've been skating for a couple years, and most of my friends have gotten passed my level and upgraded their bag of tricks. Hope to get back in the game soon. Keep it up with the videos mate! Subbed!
I learned how to kick flip crappy and videos like this help people understand that it’s not separate but a fluid motion and the front foot placement has helped me allot.
1. Don't put feet too close together 1:23
2. Don't look forward too much 2:18
3. Don't touch your hands on the ground 3:01
4. Don't flick down 3:37
5. Don't separate pop and flip, make sure its synchronized 4:31
Ur a god
Thank you😂
Num.2 has been the problem for Years until I realized it Yesterday 🍻
Ur gonna go to heaven
Bro I always flick down, and because of that my first flip trick was a double kickflip. Not a normal kickflip a double kickflip.
Just done my first Ollie today! Update: it’s been two years later and I have improved and progressed so much!
Congrats
Keep it up man
congrats m8, keep learning.

I second this!
Lucas Beltrán Don't skate if you have fear! Simple as that.
Nah just kidding man, but you get my point.
Watch this till the end. Might help. ua-cam.com/video/K5G3xXFu9sU/v-deo.html
Torey pudwill That was so surprisingly helpful, thanks man!

Your kick flips are clean man. Nice pop, great extension with the front leg and you catch it high. Good stuff

Very informative and direct, kudos! My two biggest issues with kickflips are 4 & 5, but I now know what to look for when I practice. Thanks!
Thank you for the tips, very helpful :)
same thing but for heelflips !!
God that kick flip
Is gorgeous
Aueeee Ricky Spanish
Meh
Fast and clear. Thanks !
Awesome vid as usual. Separating pop and flick was one of my biggest problems. Thx man!
1. Feet too close together
2. Opening shoulders up
3. Hands on ground
4. Kick or flip down with front foot
5. Separating pop from the flip
Dude. I'm 1 min in and subbed. What you said about other people doing a ten + min vlog with the title/reason you clicked hidden somewhere on there is too true.

4th grade you were learning kickflips!?
yes they're not as hard as you think, sometimes you just over think it
I learned in 5th
@@hiiiiyallll same
Lol I did my first kickflip at the age of 4, when I practiced the ollie. That was accidentally xD
Zoru that’s a straight up lie lol

This vid was done so well, its really helped me out. Thank you bro! Subbed.
Great tips and great footage (dat wallie up nollie flip down was dope)
I've never heard anyone ask for a thumbs down. That's hilarious.
I used to land kickflips nearly every time,
then I had a long break from skateboarding,
and now I have to re-learn it...
Same here, was pretty solid at these back 15y ago, now I can barely get half the rotation, only on a cheap thss complete ATM and only been back on deck for 2 weeks, will buy a decent one in a month if I don't kill myself from falling off, lol

dude love the format. love the kickflips. love the slow mo
Thx for the quick and useful tips
Got any tips for bringing your front foot back in after the flick?? My front foot always lands on the ground before my board fully rotates 😒
Either you are flicking wrong or you are bringing your foot down because you are scared.
charozoid thnx!!
Can you ollie solid??? Bc it’s almost the sam except for the kick
Jump higher. Get your inertia moving up. Its about moving your center mass more than your feet and legs
Wtf!!!!! I thought this was Chris chan lmao
It's Jonathan lol to think about it he. Sounds like him
Really cool man. Awesome video
Thanks for the tips man, I’ll put them in practice!
Hey you touched the ground . And your kick flip was still flawless . Breaking your own tip. Savage
Good shit man, can u make a video about avoiding injury
Christopher Chen broke my ankle trying to pop shuv a 5 stair over the summer!!! def do this pleaseeee!!!
shit man, hope you recover soon and get back to shredding
Well injuries are gonna happen regardless we all make mistakes. Just know your limits and be smart about skating. Also learn how to fall
Don’t fall? That works for not getting injured
i see this kid on every video i swear

The only reason I can’t do a kick flip is because, I am to scared of landing primo on accident

0:40 you say that, but still, the first 80 seconds of this video were not necessary...
