I love the videos where you're able to share time stamped images or video of your plants throughout their growth! So satisfying to see lil babies grow big and beautiful (despite setbacks).
Right! It's so satisfying to see their journey over the years ☺️
I'm a total noob with plants & adore your vids. I learn a lot from your process and you explain things in a way I, a beginner, understand; but also in a way that looks like experienced people won't find tedious either. El Choco's gunna be a monster!!! You're great!! thank you!
Thank you so much :)
You inspired me to get one and I’ve been struggling with mine. This is the best motivation to get mine sized up!
Good luck!! Hope he starts growing well for you soon 🪴💚
I wish crystal star shipped to the USA
Long Live El Choco!!! 🙌🏽❤️
🙌
your videos are getting me through the long and painful recovery process after knee surgery 🙏🏼🌿 tyyyyy
Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Feel better soon Lara! 💚🌿
I’m so excited for mine. I hope it does well in my ambient humidity. Definitely a bucketlist plant.
Watching you gently breaking away the substrate, along with that relaxing music, was sooooooo satisfying! Love your videos and how careful you are with your plants. I tend to be a little heavy handed with them (mainly cos I'm so pressed for time). Thank you for your content 🙏😄
So happy that it survived and slowly is becoming again a stunning plant! ❤ Plant goals!
Me too - thank you! 😊
Thank you so much for the update on your beautiful El Choco Red!!! I finally added one to my collection a few months ago and it’s for sure my favourite 💚💚💚
Also the music while you were loosening up the medium a little bit like… so nice 🥹
Thanks Jen 🥰🌿
We love a strong comeback 💪! Your el Choco is already absolutely gorgeous, some of us are stuck with LIGHT green ones omg 😖😖😖.
LOVE your nail colour! LOVE your channel LOVE your plant
Thank you so so much ☺️
First time seeing someone construct their own moss pole and have to say it looks like you’re rolling the world’s biggest joint
I always enjoy your repots. So nice to see you now have three el choco.
It’s really so scary when plants go downhill (especially our favorite babies), but I’m so glad that you were able to nurse him back to health! He’s looking great ❤
Thank you so much ☺️🌿
I’ve been watching your journey with this plant and enjoyed seeing the update. Very curious to see if it really takes off with the bigger pot! Fingers crossed 🌱
Loving the pretty music in the background🎶🪴💚 such a beautiful plant!!!❤🐶❤
Thanks so much 😊
Great video as always, I normally dont comment but had to pop in and say I get the same satisfaction peeling dried up bits off my plants. Can we have an indulgent cataphyll peeling compilation video/short Fern? 😉
This is a great idea hahah! I will have to start compiling footage 😂
Your El Choco Red is such goals. I've had two. My first one was taken out my spidermites. The second, the leaves started to die off and I found out that it had root rot. Luckily the stump was still good. So now if's just a stump in leca but it looks like it's working on a new growth point. Fingers crossed.
My plug didn’t make the transit. It just died. I had it for a few days. 😭 Yours is beautiful!
Very beautiful plant. Have been looking for one, no luck
Looking forwards to an update video. I just got an ElChoco❤
Can you do a video on care tips for velvety philodendron?
Pretty cool vid. I never seen a moss tower put together, I always thought you just buy it like that.
Me to myself: “omg there’s a huge spider on Ferns wall” *quickly realizes there’s a huge spider on my TV* 😭
WOW 😻 It looks amazing Fern, nice work 👏👏👏
That rootball 😂😮😍🙌
Thank you 😻😻
@@wildfern you’re welcome queen 🥰🫶
stark contrast the way I repot versus how you do it. I normally use the "hulk smash" and cram the square peg in the round hole method. your videos are so calming. thanks for the upload!
😂😂 thanks for watching!
Sending love for you & olive! (And your choco) 💝
Stunning, encouraging me to move mine out of the ikea cabinet (fingers & toes crossed)..
Good luck!! 😊
Yeeey 👏 he's back 🌱 looking great! I'm so glad 💚 you have inspired me to get my little baby el choco last year for Christmas since then she's grown to be an absolute queen 👑 one of the most precious plants in my collection! Thank you Fern 💚🌱
I am so jealous of your el choco red. I got one that I thought would have dark green, velvety leaves like yours, but when it was delivered the leaves were so much lighter in color and hardly any velvety feel. 😞
Oh really?? :( I hope it's the right plant. So frustrating!
@@wildfern I know, right? I got it from Peace Love and Happiness Club in Seattle and I trust them very much. Maybe it's a hybrid of some sort? I don't know. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to reply! I just love your videos!
This video is such a good reminder of the ups and downs with expensive or even just our favorite plants! I just has this happen with my thai constellation and it was a rollercoaster or emotions but i feel alot better after seeing your el choco doing well! :)
I bought a little baby juvenile plant that completely went downhill for me. I assume my initial mistake was thinking it would do okay in ambient room humidity (which is typically around 50%) while being near a humidifier on my desk. At the first sign of trouble I moved it to a different room that typically has higher humidity for most of the day and it still declined. One by one all the leaves have yellowed and died. I have one leaf left and assume it will start to yellow soon. I'm new to this hobby so I've not yet had the chance to create a greenhouse cabinet, but I'm still so disappointed I just couldn't figure out what it needed in time.
It seems suspicious that it would die from being in 50% humidity. Mine are quite happy in that range. If it’s roots are healthy and there’s no pest issue, you should be able to revive it. Put it in a large ziploc bag and bright light (no direct sun) and it should come back for you. Good luck!
@@wildfern Thank you! I really love this plant and want to make it work. I did actually check the roots and from what I could tell they looked good. I did actually place it in a Ziploc bag the other day so fingers crossed she comes back from the brink. Glad I found your videos because they really feel approachable for someone just starting out. ❤️
This just solidifies my desire for an el choco red 🥰 gotta restrain myself until I get paid on Friday now
I would like Japanese subtitles!🫶🏻
oml what a glorioud update! ive been strugling with my baby tiny teeny el choco red for a month now, and hes about to lose his last leaf..siiiigh i love him so much HAHA it makes me so sad
Ohh I hope you’re able to revive him 🥺
@@wildfern me too, im so worried neither it or its chonk are gonna make it
I love my el choco all because of yours! And you need a proper yellow pencil ✏️ for poking down the soil haha
Yes I do hahaha ✏️
i grew mine in ambient humidity and it was super easy going, showed me nothing but love!! i unfortunately had to sell it as i was moving and i miss it dearly. this video is making me want to order a new one actually...lmao
I’m so happy yours survived outside a greenhouse. I was debating on taking mines out and now your confirmation gives me hope. 😊
I have an elchoco that I also got 2 years ago and it has really struggled. Mine looks like your chonk 🤣💚💚💚
Ooh gurl lookit them stems! lol
What timing... I'm getting hands on with my choco today, treating spider mites 🙃 what a satisfying recovery on yours!
Beautiful El Choco; I’m putting off getting another climber but oooh so tempting. I also like Philo Golden Dragon and Violin.. They’re so 😊similar right?
Such a beautiful plant 😍 Why do you wait to tie the stem to the pole?
It’s just too short. It would only be pulling on it awkwardly. Once it’s longer I will secure it!
Where did you buy the moss pole? So cool!
This one is from Thiccly! You can find them on Amazon
It's a climbing plant with ariel roots. I'd love to know the thought process of anyone saying don't put it on a moss pole. Good you didn't listen.
How long does forming new leaves take with your plant? I planted mine in Pon and it doesn’t really do anything… 🙈
Please where can I purchase one from?! I have not seen any local here in Texas.
Gurl i am watching this video the 3rd time and omg u so beautyful. And this El choco is stunning! Mine got root rot too… i hope it will be surviving
'I was not impressed. hahaha. I am so glad you made this video it reminded me to go check my baby el choco. Mine is in the phase we she is tiny and just chillen for now.
I love the choco red 🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍 is so beautiful I don't have one yet but one day hope🤞🏻😊
Alright, alright… You talked me into it! I’ll go buy an El Choco Red!
Thank U
Thanks for watching!
ENJ💚YED SEEING "OUR MR. EL CHOC💚 REDS!!!"
Thank you for watching 😁
Hello 🤗🙏Beautiful🌱👍
This Channel and seeing Fern and Her houseplants Are sooooo highly Addictive❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍🌟🌟
Dear Fern, if you want to put the moss pole into the pot, add some LECA down, than turn the pot upside down, put the pot on the down size of the moss pole and turn both around. In this way the LECA, or whatever you put in will not fall out. Than you can add soil and plants to the pot. Love you! Hugs to Olive! XX
This video made me want one omg😭 I am a freakin SUCKER for velvet leaf philos and this one is just😍😍😍
Yessss they are so gorgeous!
How did I not see this video? Omg. So happy the El Choco is doing so well now. Such an amazing and beautiful plant.
Hope you are doing well. Much love to you and lil Olive 💕
Definitely one of my top wishlist plants but frankly even my standard Gloriosum doesn't like me so I'm working on mastering her care first. This was so satisfying to watch and it's even a little bit awesome that when you make a mistake or have a pest problem or something with a plant you can chop it up and have multiples!
Do you have any advice on how to root an el choco chonk/wet stick? I've had a piece with no leaves/roots sitting in a cup of water for literally a year! Ive tried sticking in pothos cuttings, rooting hormone powder, and nutrients in the water and still nothing. Its still green with a green growth point, but it wont root 🥺.
Love when you post videos! And the el choco red is my new top wish list because of you! I named my betta fish else choco in spirit of this plant ;)
So pretty. He will be a happy camper. Amazing how you can recover and bring them back from rot rot. ☺️
I found this vine at this waterfall that literally drops off into the Ocean in Maui. It looks the same and the leaves are really soft, the vines were climbing all the trees next to the river.
This whole video was as satisfying as peeling the catifill, lol. Something that helps me when potting with a moss pole is to use plant tape to hold the plant in place and then fill in the substrate around it. That way, I have 2 hands and the plant stays where I need her to 😊
Did you Micho the El Chocco? :)
them glossy eyes at the end lol.
Thanks for the update on this 🙌 I just got mine 4 months ago and I love it
Fern, I’m seeing the first of root rot on my baby thai con…. time to rewatch that series😭 what do you suggest?
I have always had to completely chop off the roots before it spreads and re-root. I've had the best luck in perlite :) Good luck!! So annoying 😩
I have my el Choco red in two self watering planters. They seem to be doing great ever since.
I love self watering planters 😊
My el choco put out a new leaf fern!! I can’t see the new roots yet but they must be in the pon somewhere! 😅
Ahhh that is so awesome!!! 😍
Looks gorgeous. 👍👍😊😊❤️❤️🌱🌳🌴🌵🎄🎄🎄
❤
This video makes me wanting to get one el choco red for me❤💚
What kind of potting medium are you using
A mixture of fir bark, coconut coir, perlite, pumice, and charcoal withs some dynomyco and osomocote :)
❤️❤️
Can anyone tell me the name of this moss pole mold thing? It's so cool
It's called grow thickly
@@cannuck3577 Thanks!!
🍃💕🎄🌺
What kind of substrate do you use for your el choco red?
Never mind, I saw it in your repotting section😊
I can’t wait to check this off my wishlist!
I know I could look it up and research but I'm on limited data volume so does anyone know by chance the name of the plant app fern uses?
Planta 💚
@@wildfern Thank you so much
This became one of my top wishlist plants as I've been watching your journey with yours! So VERY beautiful!
Thank you so much! I hope you get one! 💚
Thanks, Fern for another inspirational video on how plants can bounce back. Also, for product reccos. I just ordered some Thiccly poles and some clear pots (so I can keep better eye on roots in 2023).
That's awesome! Enjoy your new potting materials ☺️
I love ur el choco! I want one badly.
I got a philo fuzzy petiole which gives me similar vibes for now 🤩. Putting out its first leaf under my care!
Ooo I love the fuzzy petiole too, they are gorgeous!
Tell us how you re rooted it please
In a cup of perlite filled to 1/3 of the way with super thrive water.
Congrats on 100k followers! Glad to see my favourite plant of yours is back and thriving!
Thank you so much ☺️
Wait a minute. El Choco Red is a climber? I thought it was a crawler. Wow. And the leaves do look like a crawler's. This is so cool. Now this, I need. Thank you!🤩
I don't know honestly, but mine definitely climbs! hahah
@@wildfern Upon further research, apparently it is a climber. And all pictures that I see, shows that their stem(albeit, short internodes) actually does look like crawler's stem, just that it grows upwards. This is pretty exciting as I had a DMD that was so stubborn and wanted to climb and even dwelled with the idea of making it climb(might as well). But now there's a climber that looks like a crawler, it is definitely on my list! Currently only semi-adult ones available. Want to get a small one and document it's journey. Thank you!
All my love fern! I wish I could get my choco to size up: first it rotted and then it dried out super bad all the time so I just threw it in pon. Pray that the roots take, don’t see any new roots yet and I usually do right away with pon. 😅
Ohhh 😩
Thank you for posting so many videos this week!! El chocolate red is definitely on my wishlist..thanks to you!
Thank you for watching 🌿
I was just watching some of your old videos wishing for an upload! So excited!
Perfect 🥰🥰🥰
Where do you get those clear pots?
At a local plant shop in the orchid section!
Your videos brings so much joy to me! Absolutely beautiful plant 🥰
Thank you so much 💚🌿
this plant has had such a journey! hopefully it will do only well from now on 🙂
I hope so too! thank you :)
💚💚
💜💜
Omg it looks amazing
yay el choco!
🥰🪴
Does the philodendron el choco red have similar care needs as a verricosum? Mine has gotten pretty crispy since bringing it home. It was my birthday present this year and I don’t want to lose it. I’ve moved it to a higher humidity area and it is in a moss pole.
Yes I would say I care for them the same!
@@wildfern thank you! I’m normally really good with philodendron! Hopefully this new spot will do the trick!
living for your hair and your natural hair color!!!
Thank you so much ☺️
First here? 😄
Yes you are! 👏
@@wildfern ☺🫶🏼
Thank you for making this video! I love El Choco, but have the worst luck with them. 💔 I have one now that I'm hoping we've come to an understanding, so hoping we can stay happy together. This is only my 7th attempt at keeping one. 🥲❤
Rewatching this video bc finally I got my own El Choco 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
One of the most beautiful Philos there is. I’ve only imported them and the ship so badly they just never recover. But they drag out their deaths for so darn long!! So inspiring
