A really enjoyable series Gary. Good to see Mercedes Classic still supporting these older models. The quality of your videos is first class. Credit to your camera person and editor.
Did you fix the clock Gary
The 94 year old man wow!
Great show
Another great episode. Thank you.
94 years old and still committed applying his expertise...Respect.
It’s 7:30 in the morning and just arrived in work and this long awaited episode of Gary’s popped up , I’m not going to watch it on my phone and ruin the effect😊. I’ll have to wait till I go home and watch it on my 55” oled with dinner on my lap with nobody around,to get the best and full effect, can’t wait , life’s little pleasures.😊😊
Much appreciated Shane!
Those guys doing the interior refurbishment were Craftsman with a capital “C” . Marvellous.
Such a pretty little car. It's always sobering to see how much larger cars have become over the years.
Thank you for the tour of GAHH - wonderful group of craftspeople
Mercedes and Porsche engineered cars right up to 1987 that were not throw away’s full of cheap plastic crap. Great series Gary.
Amen to the fact that love of interesting cars brings people together!
Cars don't like to be alone in a garage. It's good that you made it fit for purpose again. Long may she run!
Well said!
It's a prime example of the type of car people complain, it's money pit, when it's prior neglect needs rectifying and it's not the cars fault.
What a treat Gary. So interesting and relaxing to watch your series. The human side is definitely underlined and cars are only an excuse! Can't wait for the next episode.
Well done Gary , yet another BAR STEWARD job done on the windscreen power wash job 😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
We both got a Paul & Linda story from our youth. Rd250 pulled into petrol station in Milton Scotland, filling up my bike and Paul is filling up this merc estate with Linda and loads of kids in the 3 rows of seats. Never forget it, the station is still there and still use it.
Great story!
Every project comes to an end. This 190 SL is back in life. Amazing work done. Congratulations. 🙂🙂🙂
I’ll be back as Arnie says!!
Loved that Gary - what an interesting episode. GAHH- cant believe the size of that place and the Dad still working there in his 90's - thats one hell of a business !! Great to see more jobs on the Mercedes - the interior looks fantastic ! As usual the over engineering on the Merc made me smile - the bellows and the 50ft of plastic tube feeding the windscren washers is an absolute work of art ! Hats off to you Gary - this car looks fantastic 👋 Cheers Stew
I truly enjoy watching your show, got to say wow for the 94 year young man his love for the art, this keeps me pushing myself im turning 65 in may i pray my health stays great, thank you Gary
I know! What an amazing old guy. Still got a good few years left in him. Regards
Truly Inspirational. K&D
Just imagine how much all that work would have cost at the Mercedes Classic centre! A truly fascinating series of videos.
This series should be on discovery, really excellent content.
Great watch as per usual Gary, the 94 year old dude still working… 🙏. I think to iron out all of the little mercs problems is you’d have it on loan and drive it for 6 months to find out and fix all its issues.
Absolutely Brill , what a guy.❤
Gary, I think it’s safe to say that you really are living the dream ! Another superb episode, next video very soon please mate !
Truly inspirational. An amazing production. Cheers, K&D.
Brings back memories. A 190SL was my daily driver in the 1960's. Metallic silver with a dark blue-ish hardtop and folding soft top. German spec, Marchal headlights, fog lights, tube-type Becker Mexico radio with remote control.
Hindsight hey?!! What would that be worth now? Regards
@@classic.obsession The word "hindsight" implies regret. I have no regrets for not keeping the 190SL or the other more notable cars I've owned. I'm quite old now but still an enthusiast daily driving a Porsche.🙂
Automotive joy! What a fabulous journey you have taken us on, over the months that you’ve been working on this car. Many thanks for a brilliant series of videos, I will miss seeing this lovely 190 on the channel.
I’m sure I’ll be back..
@@classic.obsession Be nice to see a handover to your director friend! Been a great series Gary many thanks.
I’ve just planned one more trip out there Simon. Just to tie things up properly. So watch this space!!
@@classic.obsessionGreat news Gary, will be looking out for it, wishing you a successful and enjoyable trip.
Some episode that mate, watched it before I got off to work. Quality as always. That interior factory is something else.
The merc is looking fresh fella. Some kid you G ✌🏼
That trim shop!😍
When cars had class individual created by real craftsman not robots , stunning 🙏🏻🏴👍🏻
Gary nice job on the Mercedes another 10 out of 10 from Gary x draycott
Great episode Gary, we were at the same viewpoint last week on a California cruise, fabulous road overlooking Universal Studio park.
Another episode that its a trully pleasure to watch
Tks Gary
More retro goodness! The gearstick fix segment took me back to 1982 buying a ‘58 MGA in the trade from the lads in Lodge Lane L8 with a similar issue on the ‘box ,tricky fix at the time but quickly sorted with scrap bits from the lads at the back of the ‘Piggeries’ flats in Haigh Street on Everton Brow and traded next day ….keep the vids going Gary …keeps my retro memories going. Thanks again
Class, absolute class.
A beautiful and timeless series.......I didn`t want it to end by any means........In addition to your beautiful calm narration & excellent editing, you are one hell of a class act mechanic many mechanical engineers would love for you to be on their team....You`re a true Gem Gary !!!...need I say, " Nice Work?"..
Thankyou so much!
Another awesome video Gary. GAAH is one hulleva set up. Pretty impressed that screenwash pump fixed and worked. The handwork that went into those seats is admirable. Not just anyone can do that. What would say the rough cost is so far for getting the car to this level ? (Excluding your labour fees)
$275 for wheel alignment ! Daylight robbery !! Cowboy Land 😂
Let me know if you’re ever in Sydney. Would love to buy you a beer and have a chat
🇦🇺🫶🏻🇬🇧
So much love and talent and energy going into other people‘s cars! So sad that nothing is happening to your red (willow gold) Corniche!😢
Just found the interior!
Such an inspiration. Your videos give me the motivation to take on the many projects on my Mercedes 240D restoration. I really appreciate the process and the fact that you take the time to clean and refresh most all of the parts you take off that need to go back on. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Kevin!
Gary what a lovely vlog
Loved every minute of it
Lovely Gary
Absolutely wonderful Gary! That reupholsters is incredible!
They’re absolutely top drawer!
Not just the most beautiful Mercedes but the most beautiful roadster ever built. The only one to upstage this great looking car was none other than Grace Kelly. Each time I see a 190SL Grace Kelly always to comes to mind.
I thought it was a 190sl in to catch a thief but apparently it was a borgwar or something?
Gary your a star
Great episode Gary you must have one very happy customer there well done sir………..the new spezials also looking dappa 👌
I would have definitely took an evening cruise while listening to Bob Seger's - Hollywood Nights around those hills.
Best I achieved was flying up to the top of Helsby Hill to the Mersey View in a Triumph Stag listening to Bob Seger on my Sharp radio/cassette back in the late 70's. Happy Days.
Ha Haaaaa!!
Brilliant thank you Gary
Another lovely video. Always puts me in a better mood. You could be working on a Morris Minor or an Allegro and I'd enjoy it just as much!
That GAAH tour was really something. I've been eyeing some of their products for my R129 and wasn't sure what I could expect. Looks like they are old school and the real deal. Love your meticulous work. You should stop by Vegas again to give VideoBob proper guidance on doing things correctly and keep him from messing up that Rolls too much. If nothing else, the comedy would be epic.
I could only imagine the smells of leather, vinyl, fresh carpet and contact glue, all mixing together in that creative space?
Really enjoyed this one Gary! GAHH take old-style craftsmanship and combine it with modern hi-tech machines to produce bespoke trim parts. That SL will surely be one of the best sorted really USEABLE cars around.
Wow what a beautiful car hope dan is enjoying it ….
Glad you kept the brackets for the windows in your pocket 😂😂 well it be rude not go back 👍
Sometimes we use a hammer for a ratchet lol good video Gary as always
I’ve got an R107 and a Porsche 928. Would be happy to have you here in Texas to help me work on both. Free lodging!
Please take a 10/10 for that…..Good job done
Great video Gary on to the next one hopefully?
Great series! Loved this one.
Another great episode
what a brilliant episode sir what a shop that was never seen anything like it
Thankyou!
Beautiful location, shame it’s close to the den of iniquity, Hollywood.
Nice work as always.
What a fantastic and inspiring video Gary. You're right about the analogy of people entrusting their cars to garages and then not seeing them for years. I know 2 people this has happened to, and in one case a lot of the original parts from the car magically disappeared. There are some real rogues in the car fraternity unfortunately.
As always Gary brilliant and totally great video keep up this fantastic channel 👍
Unfortunately, the People's "Love of Cars", has been totally ignored by the very people we elect to allegedly make our lives easier for their own political agenda's that seem concerned with the total control of us! I really enjoyed this particular episode, because I have been working with a shop near me that is one of the only specialised trimmers in the South of England that truly employs the traditional skills. However, it is nothing like on the scale of the Californian shop you visited, but still does great work on quality motors. The saga of my R129 roof problem has now been "diagnosed" as nothing to do with the convertible roof, but is down to the fact that the roll bar will not retract for whatever reason, but I cannot get the car into the garage for another 2 weeks due to how busy they are. Seems like good responsible specialists are just dying out and those that remain are overflowing with work! I just wish I was as "handy", as you, but there remain jobs that require such specialised knowledge, skills and tools! "For the Love of Cars" eh?!!!!
Lovely looking motor that is Gary you have done a superb job 👏
Many thanks
G a ry is c l ever- artistry in his MB Cab🎉🎉😮😅
Brilliant video Thanks once again!
supervid! Love to see these
Mi Mujer me dice.....Acabas de venir de trabajar y ya estas viendo el youtube!!
Le respondo: Estoy viendo un nuevo trabajo del Sr Gary, y este es extraordinario, un trabajo excepcional.
You’re so kind! Many thanks for watching.
Gary, you're doing the right thing.
I remember the Cortina in the '70s having a foot operated screen washer. Not very good.
I do love your trips to LA 🚙 👏 please keep the great video coming ❤
Another great video 👍
I enjoyed this, especially the GAHH insight, thank you. I used to live in LA, I needed to get the wheels balanced on my mercedes c-class, no big deal in the U.K. but over there they wanted to charge an arm and a leg just because it was a “Benz”, total rip off. I ended up going to Wallyworld, (Walmart). After I’d changed a track rod end I want the tracking checked, same again, they wanted a small fortune, fortunately I’d measured it prior and was able to do it myself. 👍
It’s gotten so expensive for everything over there
@@classic.obsession it certainly has, what irks me the most is a garage charging different hourly rates dependent on the car they’re working on, happens a lot over there. Just as well some of us can do a lot of the work ourselves. I really enjoy your unique style and mix of subject matter on your videos, don’t change, thank you.
Great video Gary 👍🏻😀
Sorry mate, but I don't think any of us are upset you'll be back.
great solid content
I prefer foot operated windscreen washer and headlight dip switches... GAHH are amazing
Proper old school trimmers who care and know their stuff. Regards.
I hope you can make the Willow Gold Baby even more beautiful than your black one!❤
Just found the interior!
Love everything you do for the classic cars. But recommend you test out Rupes' polishing machines 🇳🇴
If they send me one I will. Regards
@@classic.obsession Then I told Rupes UK about your great UA-cam channel, and that you would be a good representative for their products if they sponsor you.
Hope they send you a machine or two and various accessories.
Great work recommissioning this car Gary! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
G’day Gary,
Long time listener, first time caller!
I really enjoy your channel and always look forward to seeing the new episodes pop up.
As a Jag fan I must say I’m loving your mode of transport in LA. Do you reckon the XKR will become a future classic?
Kind regards,
Iain
Auckland, New Zealand
I think so yes. That xk8 is lovely
Gary, such a well done restoration! No trip to Cars and Coffee this time though, maybe next time. Cheers! 👍🏽
I was over there!!
Oh I see, you mean over in LA. No was wrong time of the month and too busy..
Loved this episode - beautiful work done.
Another awsome episode !
Gary
I think it's time India films relocated to california ?
🤘😎🤘
Brilliant! Sell up and move out there
Awesome video again. Loved it. I am sorry to have missed you at the NEC this year. My old Mercedes was on our company stand but would have been great to chat to you in person. Keep uploading your fantastic content.
BOOM 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍👍👍🏻
Saved another one from the scrap pile Gary, at least there wasn't any " Key Hole Surgery " this video, but seeing the engine bay at that angle for some reason makes that engine look so small... and seeing the carpet looking like it's one step away from Shag is another......or is that barn hay from the last convention you went to that some how got overseas in your trouser legs?
27:47 did they “drive all night” to get it?
Brilliant! Regards
😍
A long journey filled with careful workmanship.
Most beautiful Mercedes ever? - nearly, that accolade has to go to the later Pagoda Roof SL.
190SL - One of the most beautiful Mercedes-Benz : )
DUDE!(pardon my language) 27:40 There is Isdera Commendatore 112i in the corner. Is there any chance you could get access to this car? There is almost no coverage on this epic car that I know from 1997 NFS 2 SE.
