    1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL
    When I picked up this beautiful Pagoda at my client's warehouse I thought that this would be an easy job. Unfortunately when I parked the car under our shop lights I quickly realized that this won't be a quick and easy job. And of course the clear coat was hard as rock so it wasn't easy to remove all those scratches and swirl marks. But after a couple days working on this truly gentleman's car we were done and it looks as it should Elegant and Beautiful.
    What we have done:
    Dry Ice Engine Cleaning
    Paint Correction
    Leather Cleaning and Conditioning
    Door panel Repair

    In my humble opinion, the 280 SL was the epitome of Mercedes Benz build quality and engineering. So beautiful and graceful, with the hard top on or off. I think this was the Mercedes that defined the company, and set the standard for all Mercedes Benz cars built after it. It is my personal favorite, and this car is the same age as I am.

    This, imho, is one the most beautiful cars ever made and on par with Jaguar E-type, Porsche 911 and Ferrari Daytona (in my category of all-time greatest classics).

    Look at how beautiful this car is?
    Look at the stunning simplicity of the design.
    I have a serious problem with used European cars, as I have witnessed the inexorable March toward dumb ass complexity in all European manufacturers,and now it is so horrible to own a European car past it's warranty, that it's too bloody costly to enjoy.
    I came from twenty years working with Mercedes Benz Truck Manufacturing as well as Mercedes Benz Road Racing.
    I have owned German cars,American cars,British cars and Italian cars.
    I used to race sports cars in the 1970's.
    My uncle was a math professor at Oregon State University in the 1960's.
    He drove an ugly 1959 green Chevy Belair Station Wagon for ten years.
    He was a character,and quite eccentric.
    He showed up in 1969 to everyone's shock and surprise with a brand new MB convertible,with a Pagoda roof.
    Just like this one.
    He paid cash for it,saving up for it.

    How much does dry ice cleaning the engine and under carriage cost for a 4 door sedan?

    • @IAMDetailing
      @IAMDetailing  3 роки тому

      It depends, all cars are different and the job will take different time. Dry Ice cleaning is charged per hour... and classic car will be different than modern cars from 2000 up. So always depend on the car but you should expect at minimum $1k but with many cars complete job can be close to $2k and many classics even more (undercarriage, engine, wheel wells). But good visible result on undercarriage will start around $1k

    • @wozmac771
      @wozmac771 3 роки тому

      @@IAMDetailing Thx so much for being candid. I was hoping it woud be a couple hundred in my dream world. I have done detailing myself but couldn't setup a proper business. I do realize the work involved. If I buy a car that I want, will bring it for the undercarriage and engine clean at the very least. I think the advantage with dry ice is, one it can get in every spot, and it strips to the bare paint or metal. Thx again.
