You say its hard working in the heat... Well I need to remind you and all your viewers that half of WA isn't even going outside this week due to the relentless heat. So do not feel the need to apologise for delays. I reckon you are doing an amazing job!
You're dang right there - I feel bad whinging about the heat and humidity on the Sunny Coast here in Qld. They deserve a medal for what they are achieving in this unseasonably hot summer.
I wear black a lot of the time in summer but it's usually loose and airy. Some gym wear is made to absorb moisture and then evaporate. But I must admit it does look hot and stifling.
Don't be so hard hard on yourselves. You can't expect to work in that heat. The van is looking great and soon it will cool down and you will be back into it 👍💞
Guys the heat is a subject worth discussing, I cant believe how much youve gotten done considering this heatwave and what youre working in. It is hard enough to survive less than 2km from a bunch of beaches, buggered if Id want to be out in farming country. I think youre going great guns. Looking forward to the next update, be it next week or the one after. Myrtle is looking good.
Good on ya for still pushing through the heat! It’s soooo hot! Anyone else notice the security cameras following you around the shed 😂😂 “Always watching…”
I love the Viscount range of caravans. 💖💖💖 I lived in a "27 footer" Viscount caravan many years ago. Someone mentioned the cardboard box method of trying out the layout for liveability. Your entry might possibly be awkward for bringing items in if it is too cluttered. Sometimes a few extra inches can make all the difference. I do love what you are doing by renovating Myrtle and giving her a new lease on life. 😀 An "island" bed is much easier for sleeping in and bedmaking. The larger fridge will be a blessing. You won't regret including a shower/toilet cubicle. It is so unpleasant to be sick for anyone in the middle of the night and have nothing but a bucket to resort to. I'm not sure why you will need to slide the toilet out of the way, just sit on it in the shower. The toilet paper will need a cover to prevent steam from dampening it. All the overhead cupboards taking advantage of all the space for storage was so brilliant in the old Viscount Caravans. If you can manage to do that it would be so useful, and remember the door fasteners are important when travelling to stop spillage. Air conditioning will be a blessing and the old fashioned air vents in the roof were there for good reasons. Mould can be an issue if you don't keep good ventilation. We had two large screened vents and one smaller one in the roof centre of the caravan. Proper wire mess screens are best for keeping out vermin. Some areas are prone to this. The cheaper screens can be eaten through. We also had the high rise roof that gradually sloped towards the back. Beautiful Caravan it was (fond memories). It also had a sliding glass door for the entry. I would prefer a solid door for more security these days. Adding an annex gives extra living space for seating if you have more visitors than can fit at your table and lends a bit of privacy. Anyway, that is enough for now. All the best. 😀
Another brilliant video. What we love about you two is definitely your personalities and your honesty. We love how you’re so open with us - such “ real “ people. You make us laugh and you make us aware - not to mention entertain us. You’re going to make Murtle something to be proud to own - good on you both 👍🤗🤗👏👏
Loving some of the upbeat, chilaxing music you've chosen in this episode. It really suits the relaxing Sunday morning vibe. The time/day I watched this episode. Kudos to Megan for being able to keep on her tippi-toes for that long. 😁
Talk about the weather and heat all you like, I’m from Melbourne and we love talking about the weather! Especially when it’s really hot and really cold. Kudos to you guys working in anything over 37! Loving the build btw!
Awesome job guys. No idea how you get so much done and remain positive in the heat. My partner made a good point with the bottom vent you added for the fridge. Be careful of water/rain. Maybe put a vent cover over the outside. Keep up the great work
Guys, another great vlog!! We love watching your progress. We can't wait for the next episode each time, watching it religiously! Stay safe in the heat, big love from the UK! 🫶🏻
Ive got several you tubers on the go and you two are my favs by a long way. Keep doing what makes you happy and we will watch...I just love it thank you...oh and its entertaining too 😉😉
Jack, I really think you should have done the plumbing and wiring before insulation then insert around the conduits. You can then put some insulation tape over the conduits if you are worried about gaps in insulation
Love how the build is progressing. Just a suggestion, instead of going with two 12v batteries you may ant to go with one 48v. You'll spend less on the cables, fuses and it's just a much more efficient system. Cheers.
Don't worry about mentioning the heat, I live in Mildura and just getting our house and garden finished is hell with the heat and then it gets bloody cold.
Ohh love the “final” layout, love the sliding toilet I really wanted to try and do that in our van but it just hasn’t worked out that way. There are so many little things that take so much longer than you think. Stay cool guys 47 is insane.
Nice job guys. I've read all the comments and tips and agree with them. Especially about the fibreglass. Hey Jack, you know how you call a camping stove a bbq, well you're doing the same thing with polyurethane. You're calling it silicone! 😆
Wow you guys have had some hot day 🥵 For those fridge vents, you can add some aircon filter media with the fly screen, helps keep the dust down but allows ventilation.
This is so excellent because I just got a 22 fiit old viscount caravan myself and I'm stripping it internally as well at the moment so I'm literally following you as far as renovating our caravan so thx heaps for the detail and keep the vids coming please Jack and Megan, blessings phil
Don’t know if it’s already in the plans but I’d recommend chucking a fan on the top fridge vent to help draw the heat out, it’s one thing we noticed on our coaster is that they don’t actually work that well as passive vents. If you’re going for a 12v or even a 240v fridge they don’t need as much venting as the old school 3 ways.
how you guys can get any work done in that temp in a metal box is amazing...always a fun vibe with your content....shame the big chair lounge won't make the cut, but do what works for you guys...looking forward to final reveal
Myrtle is looking just fabulous ❤ I’m a bit devo that the gorgeous lounge isn’t coming back, I fell in love with it too. 😂 I can understand not having it for space saving but it’s really beautiful. When I designed a van I wasn’t sure about bathroom in the end I decided I would have pop up ensuite attached to side directly outside the kitchen. Have pull out spray bar (shower attachment) you can just hook up outside through window & clip to side. Figured it would save heaps on waterproofing etc & space, takes 2mins to set up, couple of rubber or wood mats for base. Toilet under bench inside. Thanks for not tricking me again 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Oh & loved Jack protecting Megan’s privacy 😮
Good work guys. Have you considered putting gas struts under your bed so you have loads of storage under the bed? We did that and can store so much under there.
Loving the build and I think your doing a fantastic job. I love hearing what the temperature is, it gives us a real understanding of how it really is for you. I truly think you will be so glad you added a bathroom. You will probably need to add a 2nd water tank though.
Pleased to see lichen in front as I have had 3 Caravans and the best is the kitchen in from odours go out the door. Glad about q bed you won't regret. Well done to work in that heat. I am in Tassie and we get to 30 and it is too hot. Noticed it is so dry in paddocks there. The stones might jump to next paddock😂. My dad use to say when very dry/drought. I love watching this transformation. Also I know you have to travel to B's but better than having to much and left over. Look forward to next ep and keep 🆒.
Make the bed somewhere between a queen and double thereby gaining space for the wet room. There is a bloke in Rockingham that makes caravan mattresses at very reasonable prices.
We have a 13’ 8” vintage caravan that we put a bathroom in. I wasn’t sure about doing that but am so pleased we did. It’s definitely worth spending the time to think about the best layout to make it work. Love your work and following your adventures. Good luck.
Looking good guys! We don't get 47 deg heat here in Canada, but we get -40C temps in the winter, which makes getting around really difficult. Not much work gets done outside in those temps. Stay cool, and keep safe, Can't wait to see how this project turns out.
I think you guys have made great progress considering WA temperatures!! And really like you're thinking with the layout and including the bathroom! Keep smiling!!

My goodness such hard work and in that relentless heat 🥵. Well done. I remember being in WA in a heat wave and I actually thought the place was going to blow up!!!! 47 deg 😱 you guys are take it easy that’s just too hot 🥵.
Excellent effort in that horrific heat. Just a thought, if you have dark curtains, and air-conditioning, could you sleep during the day, and do "night shift" on the van? Have to incorporate Jack's trip's to Bunnings of course 😂😂😂 Ps it was 19deg here today, bet you miss this place 😊 Cheers Rob and Shelly from Tasmania
I thought of renovating a caravan but couldn't work out the insulation part. See the way you've done it, cutting insulation to fit inside but not over the aluminium frame... doesn't that mean the sun will conduct from outer walls, into the frame, bypassing most of the insulation and heating up the interior anyway? I thought maybe put 3 horizontal rows of thin wood strip (#1 at floor height, #2 waist height, #3 at ceiling) as a thermal break, then the final interior wall lining. But wouldn't that mean heat STILL bypasses most of the insulation!? i.e. Does insulation need to be placed over the aluminium frame too?
love the video, and caravan is coming along nicely. Was interesting the cylofoam insulation, I was looking at insulation for my van, and might look into that. Is Cylofoam expensive, it looks easy to cut, messy though. Can't wait till next video.
Hey how’s it going, it’s a very popular option for sure. It comes in a couple different sizes. 10mm,15mm,20mm think the 10mm was around $30 a sheet and we used 9 sheets 10mm.
I sort ofworked in a 48° environment once before. Just kept dripping and losing brain function by the minute. It's beyond me how you did this amount of work. Good job guys 👍🏻👍🏻 you're two tough cookies
Just a thought are you putting a 3 way fridge in or dometic from experience you need to purchase a bigger vent on your rear bottom why you can't service the system unless you pull your fridge out trust me it's a pain as I am going through this now spend the the money and get a bigger opening on rear bottom vent
Another great vid guys! One thing though, how about you just buy 10-20%% more than you think you need and return any unused materials? Just keep the receipt? 😅 I feel your pain with the 3hr round trips. 😳 Dont worry jack you'll still get to spend enough time there anyway 😂
