Oh FFS, it’s not a business! It’s a yacht race run by clubs of volunteers for, overwhelmingly amateur (volunteer) crews. And cancelling the race doesn’t cancel the WEATHER! Cancelling the race doesn’t automatically vacuum all the boats and crews into a harbour. Cancelling the race just means there are now a heap of boats in the ocean without the benefit of race rules.
This bloke was asked “wasn’t the forecast too rough” on morning tv and his response was “no” after so many boats retired, 2 deaths and one rescued man overboard. I’m guessing he’s prepping for lawsuit defenceces
Every year? What went horribly wrong last year? Or the previous year? It’s now 26 years since the last deaths in the Sydney to Hobart Race. 11 deaths in 79 races, 2 of which were heart attacks. What’s the road toll? Are we going to cancel all driving? Or crossing the road?
Good bloke good report with information available thus far.
Gotta love the interruption of ads whilst Mr Jacobs VC gives a sombre statement and answers questions regarding the dead.
Sailors know the risk, and largely enjoy the challenge of difficult weather, as sad as it is when we loose people in sport, race on !!!
So you can't say that they loved what they were doing now? How pathetic is this woke world.
A very well managed briefing.
As a ships captain, this is a sad day. No don't cancel the race,
Thank you for publishing this briefing. It is a shame CYCA are not publishing any information or briefing to public.
why? What more can you expect? They gave the more appropriate person the job so stick it.
show some respect
Legal reasons over the death of participants in their event
@@timwhite3030 wtf do you call this ?
Use a boom preventer- simple, effective and what every other sailor uses in strong downwind winds.
@@brian33647 well aren’t you just the expert. How many Sydney to Hobarts have you done?

Are preventers part of compulsory equipment?
I think we should think for compulsory helmets also in this field of sport.
Incoming cancel culture posts
they are the ones voting for nanny states and that have never been sailing
Part of the hobby.

Should have been cancelled to respect the 2 dead people.
rubbish.
We should cancel the driving of vehicles to respect everyone who has died on the roads.
Immediately as it would have been if it was this fool's family member...🤢
@@Design_no Only people like you watch it so who gives a F***

If you don’t have two brain cells to rub together it’s probably not a great idea to comment.

adjust your nappy. Their is smelly leakage. Ask you mommy
@@timwhite3030 On?. How to act like pretentious knob sailing a yacht?.
I understand you may not want to cancel a race but a race could be postponed. Doesnt have to start the day after christmas come what may.
Organising a race of this magnitude is a massive logistical operation. And most of the participants are locked-in by other commitments.
