I escaped from the house by climbing out of the window. I ran to the nearest phone booth and called my younger sister, her husband and my father came and got me. I was so scared that the men would find me and kill me. I reported the rape to the police, the officer who took the report said that I was very lucky they didn’t kill me. I blamed myself, because I got into their car. It was my mistake getting into the car, but I didn’t ask to be raped. Seriously and she just walks all chill up to her door. Most people would have been hysterical and running their fastest to get back inside their home after all that.
we already have laws in place and they don't discourage every man. upbringing plays a role but no parent wants to be told how to raise their child, especially discipline, so they don't feel entitled to things and later women's bodies. and men get so full of rage when ladies have to ''treat every man like a potential rapist'' lol because they are. and we have to teach girls a lesson in safety, to be as safe as possible in this world where creeps will likely never go away.
Well statistically speaking it's unlikely you'll ever meet a serial killer and most strangers are just fine, but yes precaution is helpful especially if you are a woman (unfortunately this is still the case...).
Honestly though I feel like even if she had turned the guy’s request down, he would’ve still forced her or threaten her in some way to get in the car...
Moron. It's a known fact that girls all the time turn down rides, and the man simply drives away. Only in a tiny tiny few cases does he jump out of the car and snatch her. Abby's actions were stupid whether he would have jumped out and grabbed her or not. Idiot
From the beginning, she made the Choice to survive, she befriended him and became a confidante to him, even willing to become an accomplice to his other illegal actions...this made herself a human to this monster...so when the law closed in on him, instead of killing her, he let her go...her day 1 choice saved her life, and now she gets to live her life. Empathy goes a long way, even if its a false front...she laughed on the side of the road, her plan worked and she walked home.
It was a smart move... seriously all the cases like this would end up become a murder. There was other case like this tho when bus driver kidnaped students then made them as sex slaves for years
Abby went missing on my 15th birthday, just a few days before her own 15th birthday, in a town which is like a second home to me. I remember being up in Conway the weekend after she went missing and seeing all the hard work people were putting into finding her. When I learned that she had returned home safely that following July I remember just sitting there crying in joy that she was ok. Her story is one that has had such an impact on how I live my own life, learning that anything can happen anywhere, no matter how safe you feel there, and I’m so glad that she got this chance to share her story.
Yes, I lived in Conway when that happened. There was a huge billboard right by my apartment that had her picture, it was their for many many months. The whole thing was heart wrenching. Everyone was so grateful when she came home!
She's lying! Look at her tell her story. Zero emotion. She got with this older dude and he got tired of her so he kicked her out and she was posses like ima show you
Brian Cannon pls stop, you can’t come to such rash conclusions based her how she acts almost 5 years after such an incident- not to mention the trauma that people like you and I can’t even begin to understand that she must’ve endured.
See... After her abduction...when her mother received that letter from her saying that she was okay and she ran away.. The rush to judgement was that this girl was just a brat. She was a little run away that she should pay back all the money for the searches. And her mother always believed she was forced to write that letter. And no one believed your mom, no one believed the story after that letter... And look this girl really was abducted. And after her captor had her write that letter and it was sent out in received.. As soon as the news broke about that letter the rush to judgment was so huge. There was victim-blaming. And a lot of searches and a lot of help for this little girls stopped right then and there. In the entire time she needed assistance and she was being completely tortured and chained up in a box. You can never completely judge someone you do not know. And if the searches are in vain and the person really did just run away.. It's better to be safe than sorry. People need to learn from this.
You're the ignorant one. You don't know what really happened, while she was gone for that whole time. We just have what she TOLD everyone, to go by. Her word vs what probably really happened.
Carrie Ann, Where in this video, did it say she was chained up? If you listened you would have heard that the police were extremely concerned after the mother received the letter from her daughter. It was after the letter that police believed she had been kidnapped, not before! People react differently in different situations, especially when they don’t have all the facts. Police didn’t give out all that they knew. If they had, the girl may not have been found or let go. People make mistakes jumping to judgment in certain situations. That’s just the way life is! No one is perfect and people believe what they want to believe, until they’re given the exact details, they’re going to believe whatever they think is the truth!!
Agreed. Better to be safe than sorry. Even if the person is a runaway they still need counseling and support. If they're young and underage it's not too late for them to change. And ppl really need to stop bitching about money. It's always the manipulative ones who have money issues who complain about this.
Abby, if you ever see this.. You are an amazingly strong young woman. And I hope you get through the trauma and pics of broken pieces of your soul up and learn how to heal from within. And just remember that you survived what most people have never even thought they would ever experience.. You went through it and you came out the other end stronger. Don't ever doubt what you can do in life hun.... the sky truly is the limit for you.. 💕💕

When surviving captivity and abuse it is so important to find a way to move on with your life. Otherwise you carry that around forever and you aren't truly free. She was lucky to get away and I'm glad she shared her story to help other young girls avoid a similar fate. So brave.
Parents stop letting your children walk home from school and wait at the bus stops alone. No excuses! It's not worth the risk...If something happens you'll wish you would've tooken that time.
I agree with u! But some parents don't have rhe luxury to do that because they work. I stay home thank GOD! 🙏🙏and drive my kids to school, but people are in diff life situations.
Yes but kids make mistakes. You shouldn't cross the train tracks either but how many do anyway because it's a shortcut? Most people do things they know they shouldn't at one point or another, even adults.

I was walking home one night from my bfs house. I was 14 it was raining out. It was around 7 or 8pm and was 15 minutes away from my parents house. A guy pulls up offering me a ride home he says, " I can take you home, dont think I'm weird or anything I'm actually a teacher at Bbchs." I lied saying no my house is right up here. He kept following me I walked up into a random driveway and he drove off. The last name he gave me was fake. I didn't know that until the next day when I was asking all of my highschool teachers there does mr. (the name he told me) work here. All of them said no. Thank god I trusted my gut.
In 1994 my 17 year old daughter ran away to be with a boy I disapproved of. His wicked mother helped my daughter to plan and run a way. I was devastated that my precious daughter ran a way. We were very close. The first night I had to go to bed without knowing where she was after knowing for 17 years where she was every night of her life. Not knowing if she was safe and warm or if someone was hurting her. She stayed gone for 6 years and eventually came back after having 2 precious little boys. I can’t begin to say how traumatized I still am that my daughter did that to me. I tried everywhere to find her. Putting posters up, filing a missing persons report, going all over the places where she would go to look for her and to put up missing posters of her beautiful face. I totally understand how this young lady’s poor mother felt when she couldn’t find her daughter.
I never take rides from strangers. I even refused to take a ride from one of my friends mother, as my home was just a few moments away and it felt weird to get a ride from someone, even if I knew them.
Actually i got a ride from a stranger once n he only picked me up bc he knew somebody else could n wouldnt have good intentions. Godbless that man. Dumb for me saying yes but definitely a good man.
I picked up a hitchhiker when I was in college, she asked me if I would take her to a concert in Albany, but when we got there, the concert had been cancelled. So we bought some beers. Then while driving back to the college, she invited me to her dorm room, and when we got back, we had sex. (She initiated.)
The people saying at 14 you should know not to get in a car, no! at 14 what you know is you have the world in your hands and you’re invincible. At 14 there is still a lot of maturing to do as you are still a child.
I remember this very well. At the time my only granddaughter was 15, we lived in a small town abt 45mi away from North Conway. Of course being a grandmother I more than emphasized about "stranger danger" and how it would break grammies heart if anything happened that would take them from me. My granddaughter is in college now miles away from me however, she and her two brothers still get warning and advice about safety from grammie....at the end of my texts I always say: ' it's a g.mother thg!' Abbys abduction brought reality home-this could happen to one of my g.kids. I followed all the news reports about Abby, I kept a picture in my wallet and when in a check out lane I would ask the person behind me if they had seen Abby. I cared about this young girl and was overjoyed that she had returned home. To see her as an adult now and that she is telling her story as to save another is vety heartwarming. Thank you Abby, I'm so glad to see what a beautiful lady you are and your story will surely help many to avoid such a situation as you endured. God Bless you dear and your family. rrc

when i was in college, i remember i was in a hurry because I had a test to catch up. All public transports were occupied. so there's this guy who lost his way and we were heading to the same place, coincidentally-- my school. I immediately messaged my classmates in the group chat that I was able to save some money. Kinda feeling proud about it, lol. And they all replied in unison,"Why did you get in? What if he sprays something in the car, drugs you and kidnaps you?" And with that I realized, I trust people so easily. This is stupid. I prayed so hard. Tried to capture the driver's face but failed XD I only captured up to his neck and the capture sound was on. On the way he kept talking about how he had sex in the car with students before at the backseat and gave them a thousand. While he was talking he was obviously checking me out because I was in the front seat with my school uniform on. I tried to change the topic and asked him if he has daughters. He said, yes. I asked about his family, where he's from, what he's doing in our town and other things like that. I also told him I have an aunt who's a police officer in his hometown. Long story short, he said he needed to take a leak real quick and asked me to wait in the car. But I said I will just walk because the school was just a few yards away. That I really needed to go and had no time to waste. But then he quickly got back inside without peeing and drove me straight to school. And thank God we arrived at school. Thank You, Lord! ❤️

Both men were arrested, the man who raped me was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the other man was put on probation for 10 years. I never got into another car with someone I didn’t know! I didn’t know or have a relationship with our Lord Christ Jesus at the time, but I do now! I’m so glad that the Lord was watching over me then, Jesus Christ gave me the strength get out of the ropes that tied me to the bed. Jesus Christ gave me the courage to escape out the bedroom window and run to the nearest phone booth. It had to be God, because I didn’t have the strength or the courage to do what I did!!! I give my Lord Jesus Christ all the credit for saving my life and my sanity! I know that without Jesus Christ, I can do nothing!!!

Yup I would as well
Seriously and she just walks all chill up to her door. Most people would have been hysterical and running their fastest to get back inside their home after all that.
Instead of annoying her about getting into her car why don’t we teach men how to act
What do you think is easier? Telling girls not to get into strangers cars, or finding men with mental disorders & "teaching them how to act"?
we already have laws in place and they don't discourage every man. upbringing plays a role but no parent wants to be told how to raise their child, especially discipline, so they don't feel entitled to things and later women's bodies. and men get so full of rage when ladies have to ''treat every man like a potential rapist'' lol because they are. and we have to teach girls a lesson in safety, to be as safe as possible in this world where creeps will likely never go away.
The world is not that simple. People have mental issues that will not save them from wanting to hurt others, no matter how much you try to “teach”.
How do you plan to teach "men" with mental disorders. Like do you have a degree in Psychology?
Never breed.
Moral of the story never trust strangers.
who are you
yup. especially dont get into a car with them
Don’t even trust your friends. Trust nobody
@@MikeyJackk don`t trust even yourself, you can get nuts any moment! Don`t trust at all. Trust is a bad word=)
Well statistically speaking it's unlikely you'll ever meet a serial killer and most strangers are just fine, but yes precaution is helpful especially if you are a woman (unfortunately this is still the case...).
Imagine being missing for 9 months and just walking into your house all casually like nothing happened LMFAO what an icon
Idiot

@@AntiWoke_Autistic this guy did have a gun though

Brian Cannon pls stop, you can’t come to such rash conclusions based her how she acts almost 5 years after such an incident- not to mention the trauma that people like you and I can’t even begin to understand that she must’ve endured.
I'm happy for her with tears; she survived. She is strong and smart.
Carrie Napiecek people are too ignorant to understand
Yup, always pissed me off.
You're the ignorant one. You don't know what really happened, while she was gone for that whole time. We just have what she TOLD everyone, to go by. Her word vs what probably really happened.
Carrie Ann,
Where in this video, did it say she was chained up?

Amy Cisneros how about men stop kidnapping women? That is where the blame should be
Actually majority of murder victims are men, males need to be more careful.
You know it also happens to men
How the hell do you see a story like this and blame a 14 year old, a CHILD, for what happened?
Tammy Davis This is a world full of psychopaths, rapists and killers. What you are mentioning is an ideal world but we don't live in an ideal world.
I'd disown her if I was you

God Bless you dear and your family. rrc

After 9 months of rape..........yeah there is no god
Vera Solo,
I truly believe as you do, that God heard her prayer’s and after 9 months of our Lord Jesus Christ working on the man’s heart and mind, that the man let her go home. You are so right, Our Lord Jesus Christ is working and doing miracles all around us! All we need to do is pay attention to our surroundings, to see the miracles of God! Any time you hear of a young girl missing, 99% of the time, she’s found dead and most likely the person who killed her isn’t known. God was watching over her from the start. God was listening to her prayer’s and working on the man who raped & kidnapped her. Thank you God for bringing Abby home to her family!

So many people victim blaming and it's really sad to see how some people's minds work. We all know not to take a ride with a stranger but that DOES NOT give anyone the right to violate another person. Blaming the victim doesn't help anyone and just makes you look closed minded and cruel

So cool how she stayed in prayer not ending her prayers. Wow

FYI, IT IS VERY rare to get kidnapped by a stranger! Most are people you know!
when i was in college, i remember i was in a hurry because I had a test to catch up. ❤️
When she was saying about walking home, I immediately thought 'I'm glad they didn't move!' Very strong lady!
