Set up is always mission specific. I ran fuel convoys in Iraq for 18 months between 2003-2005. If you got caught in a kill zone and had to un-ass your vehicle, all you had is what was on you. So I carried a double basic load. 12 Mags on my vest, 1 in the weapon and 1 on the but stock. Keep in mind your primary mission, as a transporter, is getting your cargo from point A to Point B, not to maneuver against the enemy, but suppress the enemy until a gun truck or QRF team shows up. Suppression fire exhaust ammo very quickly, but keeps the bad guys from maneuvering against you, until you run out...hence a double basic load.

Setting up my LE gear is something I still juggle around with being a rookie but also having a decade of military experience with a couple of deployments sprinkled in. They don’t correlate well when it comes to setting up gear IMO.

100% every setup is mission dependent, if you think about what the different rolls were overseas and what each guy would be carrying they weren't the same by any means. I am sure there was some crossover, but a medic and a breacher are going to carry different shit.

Realistic setup. Often times newbies think that carrying extra “just in case” gear is going to make them operate better. Secondly, the amount of ammo is realistic based on their LE mission. Thank you for sharing and keeping it real.

People need to remember that plate carriers are not a one size fits all thing, if you are doing SWAT shit then I am sure this is plenty. But if you want to know what a Ranger uses when they are doing shit in country then you can check out people like Jeff Gurwitch who had lots of operational experience overseas. I have yet to hear a former SOF guy say that you can build out a loadout that covers everything, the message has been that your setup is mission dependent and you shouldn't fool yourself into thinking you can just copy something you saw on the internet and not put any thought into it based on what YOU will be dealing with.
Plenty of great information out there, we live in a golden age of information with some very generous individuals who are willing to provide you as much as they can without getting themselves in trouble. Of course you can probably find out some of the more hush hush stuff if you go get training from some of these groups.

@@RickSanchez167 I dont think they would require as much ammo, 3 mags + 1 in the gun should be enough given police will outnumber suspects but given the unpredicatbility of the situation full upscaled armor should be used given they are attacking defended suspects and dont expect to be wearing the kit for extended length (nor moving in it much compared to military).

I never considered how much of my setup is constructed around time. I have water and snacks because sometimes I'm out for an entire day. If you're SWAT and you have infinite water bottles in the truck to access during a standoff, of course you dont need a bladder. Time is a great conscious consideration.
