Trying to explain to cis people who are bajiggity about the word "cis" that it's just a freakin' adjective is an exercise in futility. "You are a short woman." "Okay." "You are a dark-haired woman." "Yes." "You are a cis woma--" "NOW HOLD ON A SECOND!"
And the irony is that people who say "Don't call me cis. I am a man/woman and don't like to be classified as anything else" have just provided evidence that they may be classified as transphobes whether they like it or not.
My mom didn’t know what “cis” meant and she saw on the internet that it was an insult. So, she turned to me and was like, “Do you know what this means? I heard it was an insult” And I was like “Mom. It literally means you’re not trans. I’m Cis. You’re cis.” And she was cool with it. I guess there’s a bunch of people spreading the lie on the internet that “cis” is an insult to cis people. Which is...stupid? You can literally google it and google will tell you otherwise
The main reason why people thought it was a insult is because a lot of people used to think trans people are weird/different/not normal and then the term “cis” was made to make cis people sound different then normal to kind of make them seem different or not normal
It's a label...people don't like beeing put in some sort of broad category. also the term is used by some on the radical left spectrum in derogatory manners. Don't put people into boxes and dont tag labels on them... its as easy as that

I hope they never encounter European shoe sizes, because in that system, size 6 would be 4 cm long. My own shoes are size 35 when I can find that or 36 if there aren’t any shoes that fit and suit me on the “size 35” shelf or in the children’s section.
To be fair, children under 2 years are not supposed to wear masks (as far as I know I could be wrong), but that could be solved by... keeping them at home so there still is no excuse. Although not everyone has someone to take care of their child when they go out, so that could be a possible scenario where they would have their child out at a store or something without a mask. But they could take precautions like pulling the hood of the baby carrier over like a mask but not directly on their face
Even if that was 50 years ago, that disappointed me so much. Nobody should be exposing their CHILDREN to a stranger! That’s considered harm, and I would’ve whacked that woman with my NB purse if she pulled that in front of me. No child should go through such immature and indecency of their parents.

She's 6 and a half now and has pretty much never worn skirts or dresses, completely her choice from the time she was old enough to choose. It doesn't stop the occasional stranger commenting that she'd look "so pretty in a dress" arrrgh. I'm a huge believer in supporting a child to make their own choices from the time they are old enough to do so (provided they are safe choices for them and others). As such I would even argue that it isn't just "P O C K E T S" but rather "FUNCTIONAL pockets", in my work pants that are from the men's department the pockets are 8.5" deep and I can easily have my wallet and keys in one pocket and phone in the other pocket and still have room to put my hand in the pockets to keep my hands warm, but in my cloths I actually want to wear from the women's department the pockets are 3" deep and yeah sure I can put my wallet and keys in one pocket (just barely) and half of my phone in the other pocket, nothing else fits in them and there is way to much of a risk of things falling out because of how shallow they are. I would argue that anything under 7" is not a functional pocket even if it is a technical pocket. If it is not deep enough to put a phone in then it is not functional.
I just gave up on trying to find clothing I like with pockets. Instead I asked my mom to sew me some skirts with pockets. They fit more, than I can put in them without losing my skirt due to the weight.

Regarding the "dad in the supermarket vs mom in the supermarket" stereotype... my parents are exactly like that but I, being a child and wanting to be like my dad for shockingly trans reasons, was more like my dad in that I hated shopping and hated taking forever in the market and hated looking at clothes and food and so on. But as I got older and took on the role of stay-at-home spouse to keep it tidy and clean, I noticed how drastic my shift was in shopping. Now I love looking at clothes, cleaning products, cooking stuff, so on... because it's things to help me care for the thing I spend the most time in and the most time caring for. It's a completely genderless experience. The more time you spend tending to something important, the more likely you are to be interested in buying the things needed to continue to tend to it, leading to "traditional" moms displaying those shopping behaviors as opposed to "traditional" dads, who just wanna grab something and gtfo.

@@Ratniko If I remember correctly, the woman who initially did it had been trying and trying for a baby, but kept having miscragies. She finally had a pregnancy that she could keep, so threw a baby shower to celebrate that she managed to have a baby long enough to even see what gender her baby was.
So it became kinda a celebration to see the gender after a few moments.
I honestly don't mind them, a lot of them are pretty tame. Only when they get extreme (like fireworks or smoke bomb things) do I really mind it. Like just cut a cake.

@@lillyw2695 we do not claim them as human beings. They are a different species
That reminds of that one girl that went “I ain’t no cis women! I am a NATURAL born women!”
I heard it was an insult”
And I was like “Mom. It literally means you’re not trans. I’m Cis. You’re cis.”
And she was cool with it.
Don't put people into boxes and dont tag labels on them... its as easy as that
@@YuriNoirProductions Labels are a touchy subject for me. I obviously wouldn't label someone who didn't like to be labeled. However, the labels of "gay" "trans" "straight" "cis" can help people understand others and help guide them when finding themselves. Although not everyone has someone to take care of their child when they go out, so that could be a possible scenario where they would have their child out at a store or something without a mask. Yes, the whole pockets thing is super annoying, specially being an adult who only accepted being trans after decades of being use to having functional pockets it is even more frustrating for me because I am so use to "wallet keys phone" being in specific pockets where I feel like I am missing something if I am outside the house without them in their right pockets, even jeans that do have pockets the pockets are only like 2 inches deep and so are functionally useless except for coins and keys.
Right like i can’t imagine women actually wanting to wear what they sell there 💀
I just gave up on trying to find clothing I like with pockets. Instead I asked my mom to sew me some skirts with pockets. They fit more, than I can put in them without losing my skirt due to the weight.

^ THIS!!!
That’s really interesting! I honestly didn’t know what the they meant or that they were used in other context. Thanks for sharing
Exactly! They are latin terms. The Romans used them for example to refer to the lands on their side of the Alps (the upper part of Italy) which was called cisalpine and on the other side of the Alps (what used to be Gallia and today is mostly France) which was called transalpine.
They are words that are thousands of years old and are nothing more than descriptive terms, people don´t get to just claim they are slurs when they absolutely are not.

Blessed be the people with the patience to actually hold these discussions for longer than 5 minutes because they make me want to yeet myself off the face of this planet. They make me want to evaporate. They make me want to vanish and wake up in a better timeline where "Cis" and "Trans" are understood by most people as merely adjectives that are opposites just as "Strong" and "Weak" are opposites. xD I cannot with these people.
I don’t understand why people try to convince anyone of anything. I don’t even believe any more that it’s about educating people. People on both sides of any polarizing issue share exactly the same need to control the narrative and what other people think. It’s pointless and a waste of time, since most people are demonstrably unable to learn new concepts or to let go of their own preconceptions. Give it up. Nobody learns, nobody listens, everybody feels victimized.

Face it, there are a lot of uneducated people out there and a lot of people who have been "educated" by arseholes with a hatred of anyone not the same as themselves.
Frankly, I want to find some place where cis gendered heterosexual people like myself *and* all manner of people of different genders, sexual orientations, gender expressions etc can live and enjoy our lives and not be plagued by uneducated haters.
Sadly, there seems to be no place like that and we're forced to contend with total arseholes for whom *hatred* is more important than understanding.
This is why I want to live long enough to see us build colonies and habitats outside of Earth - then perhaps we could build a colony elsewhere with decent "entry criteria":

I used to work at a Christian book store & Macdonald’s “Act Like Men” got recalled off the shelves, so we got to destroy the copies we had in-store. It was very satisfying.
I’m glad you enjoyed your book burning. What’s next on the list?
@ReadingWriting&Ranting of course I’m being sarcastic. Destroying books just because you don’t agree with them sets a dangerous precedent. There’s plenty that I don’t agree with but I don’t think it should be destroyed.
@@jollytotjuice Unfortunately for any item that was recalled at that particular bookstore chain, there was no sending the product back to warehouses or anything. We were specifically given direction by corporate to destroy them before throwing them out so they couldn’t be scavenged and resold elsewhere (which people have tried to do before). There’s definitely precedent to disagree with that, but not on the basis that we were “burning” them because we disagreed with their messages.

"I can't get over the bit where they think that wearing masks is emasculating for boys. How?"
It's quite simple. Wearing a mask protects other people, therefore implies that you care about people other than yourself. Caring about other people is feminine & cissy. Therefore, wearing a mask is emasculating! [/sarcasm]

More accurately, they think caring about your own health is weak. Remember that these are the same people who refuse to acknowledge that wearing a mask if for helping OTHERS, hence why everyone needs to wear one, so that everyone is protected. So they think it's only to protect YOU, and believing in the pandemic and caring about the pandemic means you're weaker than others, and thus emasculated.

I don’t particularly like cut or shaped clothing, (like woman shirts, pants) so I always pick the male sizes or shop in the male section ^^
Can you imagine how insufferably restricting these peoples lives must be? I don't think I even have time in a day to type how many things these people (honestly men for the most part from what I've seen) have to cut out of their lives to fit their idea of a "man" or "woman". Sounds so exhausting.
"If your boyfriend reads, that's a girlfriend"
Huh, I guess lesbians have more options then I thought
The degree of misogyny, misanthropy and sheer ignorance promulgated under the thin veil of humor is truly staggering. Are people's egos truly that fragile? Do people really feel that threatened by people who are acknowledging themselves as other than the classically biologically male and female gender identities? How truly sad for all.
Damn u using the big words lol
@Diya Give me an example of legislation that has been passed or is being considered that forces you to call someone by their preferred name and pronouns.
And exactly who do you mean by keeping ‘certain people’ out of women’s spaces?
@Diya "preventing me from calling you what I want to call you" if what you want to call people is insulting then your whole argument is fucked. It's like saying "my name is Laura" and the person answering says "to me you look like an Ashley so I'm gonna call you Ashley" that's just a wrong fact, you can't say something that is scientifically wrong and label it as your "opinion"
@Diya So.. you’re not worried about trans people, you’re worried about cis people.
@Diya Also, with that Laura Ashley thing, now imagine that even though you have repeatedly told me that your name is Laura, not Ashley, I still consistently and purposefully call you Ashley, and even when you tell me that every time I call you Ashley, you get a horrible feeling in the pit of your stomach that makes you question if you’ll ever be happy, I still call you Ashley. For the purpose of making you feel extremely uncomfortable.
Should that be considered harassment?

Jammi: Really? You want to look like a lord of the rings extra?

Is that...bad? Of course I do-
Regarding the "dad in the supermarket vs mom in the supermarket" stereotype... my parents are exactly like that but I, being a child and wanting to be like my dad for shockingly trans reasons, was more like my dad in that I hated shopping and hated taking forever in the market and hated looking at clothes and food and so on.
