I'm the only one of my friends that has a job and therefore a debit card, and my parents wouldn't know the difference between a sports bra and a binder.

Same! Ever since I was really young, like in early elementary school (so around the ages of 5-8) I had this feeling that I still can’t explain. I never thought outright “I want to be a boy” until I was around 11, but looking back I’m pretty sure that’s because I genuinely didn’t think it was possible for me to be one. I was introduced to the topic of being trans by Noahfinnce, and pretty quickly realized: “oh, that’s why I feel like this.” There’s nothing wrong with us, we aren’t broken, and we certainly deserve to exist as who we actually are.

I have 2 cats. Their names are Oba & Iris. They're both domestic short hair. They're both rescues. I don't have an exact age for them but I would estimate Oba is about 10 years old & Iris is about 8 years old.
Their favorite color is laser pointer red.
Their occupation ranges from alarm clock to snugglers.
When I name my pets, I give them names from different mythologies.
Iris is named after the Greek goddess of the rainbow because she's a calico.
Oba is named after a divine African river spirit who was tricked into cutting off her own ear. I named her this because when she showed up on my porch, part of her ear was missing.
If I didn't find the name of this river spirit, I would have broken from my tradition & named her Vinnie after Vincent Van Gogh.

Thank you Jamie for the wonderful dose of wholesomeness! The meme about the cat comforting the dog during the storm made me think of my own dogs. 10 years ago, we adopted a pittie/ Bassett Hound/ French Bulldog mix named Colonel Stubby. We kept the name because it was perfect for him. He has always been very full of himself, quite fearless & doesn't seem to know he's not a giant dog physically. The only thing he is afraid of is thunder storms & to say he is terrified of them would be putting it lightly. He trembles violently in fear until the storm passes. Nothing seemed to help - not comforting, treats, blankies, thunder shirts or toys - until we adopted a sweet female white German Shepherd we named Stella. Stella was extremely patient & nurturing & immediately was very protective of Stubby - despite the fact that he was 2 years older & an adult, while she was still a puppy. Stella would curl up around Stubby to comfort him & make him feel safe. It worked. Every time a storm hit, even if we were away, we knew Stella would look out for her brother. This practice continued for almost 8 years - until last year. Stella was diagnosed with lymphoma & passed away in the spring, Stubby by her side. We had her cremated & placed her urn on a table next to our sofa, where she liked to sit & look out the window. Now, every time there is a storm, Stubby climbs up on that spot & sits next to her urn, as he tries hard to be a brave boy. I think in some way, Stella's sweet, gentle spirit is still comforting him.

Well until November I had a cat. Her name was Lilith, and she was an American shorthair which is shorthand for unknown mix. We do think there was some Burmese as other than coloration she looked like every other Burmese cat we saw. She was 18, would have been 19 in June. Her favorite color was purple, and darker shades of blue. As for occupation, I'll say model as she would strike poses around the house and was always a tiny little girl.

My cat "Bear" is a chartreux mix (fluffy blue coat like the I can haz cheezeburger cat, but without the flat face) who was a shelter kitten. He is 17 yrs old now, but you really can't tell a difference between him now & once he was an "adult sized" kitten.
His profession is nurse. He has on multiple occasions informed me that my thyroid is off, including for several months before the Drs diagnosed it by laying across my neck. He either accompanies or comes check the on me if I haven't returned after some time, to the bathroom when I wake him up from our nap/sleep. He sleeps under my blanket, between my knees/calves, hugging them as he sleeps. I take muscle relaxers, for painsomnia, that often have me falling asleep on the toilet, which is when he will paw or cry loudly to wake me up & "take me" back to bed with him.
He's so in tune with me, he kept me awake for 3 early morning hours, pawing me awake every time I tried to go back to sleep after I had taken both meds for the "heart burn" I was having I noticed when first woken up & of course my muscle relaxer. The next few hours of him not letting me fall asleep likely saved my life as I don't know if I would have thought nearly as quick as I was able to awake & aware. I had been suddenly hit with excruciating leg/arm/neck/chest pain, with my heart feeling like it had a hand squeezing it. I had been worried about exactly this happening for years, been to the hospital for chest pain multiple times due to pain/stress, so I was well aware in the first instant I was having a heart attack.
After shaking off the instinct to call my mom, I called 911. Thanks to health anxiety, I knew I had chewable aspirin, which I normally can't use as it triggers/worsens asthma, in a first aid kit with an asthma inhaler right outside my bedroom door & a bag packed with phone chargers already from a weekend visit to my brother. I kissed my cat, told him "thank you", then walked out, grasping at my beast in pain since the attack started, to the EMTs that pulled up only a minute (which felt like a long time in the moment) later. Once I climbed into the EMT rig, the first time out of many that I needed help, things became a chaos of questions & hands touching me.
As an autistic with both sensory sensitivities & social anxiety, the next several hours became something of a sensory nightmare, then for the rest of the 2 days I was there, a mix of heart warming love & gratitude for my cat, a relief to have survived *another* consequence of medical providers not listening to me, & the anger it ever got to this point, as well as anger I'm always paying the consequences, not them. I'd say he's a much better nurse than the ones I pay, saving me from a " widows maker" heart attack with a 12% survival rate.

The dedication of "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe":
    "My dear Lucy,
I wrote this story for you, but when I began it I did not realize that girls grow quicker than books. As a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still. But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. You can then take it down from some upper shelf, dust it, and tell me what you think of it."
I always loved the idea that after you "grow out of" kids books, when you reach adulthood you can actually grow back into them again and enjoy them on another level.

Whatever you are working towards right now. Remember, whether you think things are moving too quickly or you worry things are stuck and not moving. That's normal. Take a breath. Reflect on what you want. Adjust to fix what you think isn't working. It's okay to move at your own pace. You can get where you want to go. Just believe in yourself. And breath. 🩷🦕🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🦖🩵

Blasphemy. My family makes sweet potatoes with a caramelized pecan topping and using real sweet potatoes.
My brother's ex came to one Thanksgiving and brought "sweet potatoes" which were canned sweet potato filling covered in Cool Whip. I said out loud, "Seriously?"

In response to the thing about “the sweet potato thing” (sweet potato casserole, or at least that’s what my family calls it): it’s really good!! While it does sound weird at first, the sweet potatoes mix really well with the marshmallows since they aren’t too sweet, yet still a bit sweet, and they provide a flavor other than just “sweet”!

I have 2 cats and there is very much also one - Charcole, who demands cuddles when she wants them (usually screams at about 3 AM until I get up and go sit in the living room with her for half an hour) but also makes you earn her love and won’t interact unles it’s on her terms, while the other - Saphire, has become the self appointed mum of the whole household, looks after everyone, and tollerates things that most cats would smother you in your sleep for even thinking about!
Saphire adopted one of our dogs when we first got him because we didn’t realise we had been lied to about his age and he was too young to be away from his mum, and also has crippling anxiety. We joke that she thinks she’s half dog and he think he’s half cat because of how they both act now lol. She has also very much made herself an unofficial therapy cat for mine and my partners physical disabilities and mental health. It’s pretty much to the point where we know when we are not ok because she comes to look after us. I never even knew cats could be like this until we had her. She’s just so in tune with what everyone needs and so patient in looking after whoever needs it at the time

When my mother survived cancer but couldn’t only drink we made special milkshakes for her that contained all her required vitamins and minerals. We used 3 gallons of vanilla frozen yogurt a week. Our local grocery store made sure it was always available for her. As that was all she could eat. When she passed we let them know because other than us they only went through about 1 gallon a week

They do not have favourite colours, nor any occupation, but are happily living as roommates with me, trading cuddles and purrs for food. I have two cats and I love them so much, regardless of how frustrating they can be at times. An 11yo black cat called Wappu (I adopted her when she was 1 and that's the name she was given at the shelter, May 1st being her approximated date of birth and "Vappu" is the Finnish name for May Day, and a common girls name. May Day has pagan roots so I thought it fit her well, being a black cat and all. Using a W instead of a V just makes it more fancy.) Her occupations are a stubborn little demon spawn, a general menace that is hard to find in the dark or see from any dark surface (like black clothes), a lap cat, and my guardian angel. (When I adopted her she saved my life simply by existing.) My other cat is a 9yo calico called Nuit. She's very timid, scared of everything and spooks easily, she loves me and Wappu and is fine when it's just us but if anyone visits they're lucky to see the tip of her tail. She always sleeps next to me but has very specific preferences about it: she always has to be on my left side (wall side) and she needs scritches until satisfied, otherwise she WILL meow in my ear and gently paw at my shoulder or face until I do it. She also wants to use my arm/hand as a pillow, which means my sleeping positions are often quite twisted and uncomfortable. Her occupation is being a forever baby.
