actually one one occasion at a concert they changed, Mario played guitar and vocals and joe drum. Joe's druming was surpisingly good and so was mario with his growls
I was stage-side for Gojira at Soundwave Perth around 2011 I think...anyway I saw standing right near me none other than Vinnie Paul, ex-Pantera drummer and one of the best...later on said a quick hello and he told me he was there to watch Mario. When one of the best metal drummers of all time comes to watch you play drums, you gotta be something special...Mario totally deserves to win this, he is next level.
Mario just won 2021 best Metal Drummer!!! He more than deserves it. I'm happy this band is FINALLY getting the recognition they have deserved since the Mars to Sirius album.. it's only been uphill from there!!!
Triggers don´t mean 2 sounds on one hit, they just trigger a sound. If you are playing really fast, Triggers make sense, because you can´t hit as hard, so you trigger a sample to make it sound good/full. I do not say that Mario does this, but it will make it easier for the fast double bass patterns.
We need more Gojira, every member of this band is a beast, especially Mario who in my opinion is a Top 5 Metal Drummer of All Time, I would recommend Remembrance for Heavy, and The Shooting Star for more softer vibe, Love you guys, keep up the good work 👌🏻💙
L'enfant Sauvage -> Wild child ! ( The is "L" in this case, as it should be "Le", but there is already an "e" starting the next word, so it is shortened to not make it awkward to hear) You prononce "L'enfan sovaj" . And "en" and "an" in french are pronounced the same sound, coming from the nose Enjoying your stuff since a year and a half now, great channel. And yeah, Rock in Rio is a big festival in Brazil Next suggestion if I can : Solstafir - Djakninn . An amazing icelandic band. for more Gojira - The art of Dying
Hello from New England...Yes, more GOJIRA!!! I saw them back in August and they once again put on the best show I've ever seen. Mario is a frigging machine..You guys would def dig the vid for PRAY LIVE AT RED ROCKS 2017.Thx for the great vid..BTW THE TITLE TRANSLATES TO: LITTLE SAVAGE (S)...Peace from the Northeast..
I saw them two nights in a row - Knoxville and Chattanooga. So amazing! They’ve been my favorite band after discovering them about a year ago, dethroning Rush. I never ever thought I’d say that.
Just found your channel. Throwing some names out for some bands you may not have reacted to; Lordi (not Lorde, this is a metal band from Europe), Mindless Self Indulgence, and Justice (recommend their song Stress).
🦋 The Looks On Your Speechless Faces. Always A Great Moment To Enjoy & Watch You Both Experience. The Art That These Musicians Paint Within Our Silence.
Hi bro's this was a very amazing and this song was also very very good ! I wait every day to from you same new reaction ! Bro's you are the top of the top ! Greatings from germany ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
There is nothing really bad about triggers. It just helps to make beats sound the same, erasing some minor (accidental) differences, removing some extra noise from the recording. It also helps with fast paced drums, if some of the beats sound slightly louder or quieter than the rest. Drummers like Mario probably don't really need triggers since they are so experienced and technical, but I think probably since '00 all major metal bands tend to use triggers, just for the sharp, clean sound (or not, who knows?). Some people just don't like modern recording tech, as if it adds an artificial feel, that's all.
Drummers can use pedals that not only can be moved up and down, also from left to right to make more bpm. First time i saw this was in the drumcam video from "thy art is murder- atonment". This is the kind of thing you can't show a beginner. He will instantly quit.
it's common to use triggers for the kickdrums (and usually only the kickdrums) on live shows BUT they are not what you think they are! A trigger is just a sensor that senses the hit and then plays a sample sound. The reason to do this is that it's much easier to get a good, clear sound in a live environment. Basically it makes it easier for the sound-engineer to get a good sound for the band and the audience. The drummer still has to play every single thing you can hear. Some actually argue that you have to be tighter when playing with triggers cause they make messing up on those beats more obvious. Actually I'm pretty sure the kickdrums in this video were also picked up with triggers.
I listen to both the videos today and this drummer I think they're very much better job than my sugar's drummer. Trash talker for life... By the way I was going to edit this but it looked a little funny to me so I said you know what f it my talk text misspelling are staying LOL
Mix amazing reaction movie with heavy metal, and get drunk with cocktail the name of Trash Talkers !! Gojira・・・ high quality heaviness, crazy twin pedal drum,Everything is Right !! There seems to be a good thing this weekend !! I am looking forward to the next time !!
Dudes, you know I'm not the one to listen to about drum knowledges; I just know that Mario is practicing hours per day.... He is one of many othersto follow nowadays . He does is a great drummer. For my part, with my metal and rock culture (whitch is few in the all recorded music history), I think that Dominic Howard, from the english band Muse, is one of the best drummer of our time: He may be not the more technical and physical guy we may think of, but man, let's talk about facts: with a very little set, how many very recognisable records did he made in a couple decades ! Just few words about L'Enfant Sauvage: Mario is as usual brilliant. I mean, every member was 110% in during this performance ! The composition work is crazy, while thinking of the studio version. You know that I give to Joe a huge shout out for this one, because he always pushes himself in his limits, giving the best of himself. No one sings like him. No one kicks the bass, and get involved in each performance like this band. That's how they created their own legacy, just like Metallica and Sepultura before.
Joe might be French but his mother was Portuguese-American (her parents were from the Azores islands), so I believe he might know a few Portuguese words. 🙂 13:40 - Because he dedicates 1 hour of his drum practice exclusively to that. ONE EFFIN' HOUR!
Most metal drummers use triggers these days. It's just a fact. Especially for kicks, bcuz it just gets into a mush at these tempos (yes, Mario too). Some use a mix of drum mics and triggers to get a more natural sound, but basically you can get away with just using triggers. It's like playing on electronic drums.
Lots of bands use triggers just to refine their live sound and let everything mix well in a live setting. But i dont know of any drummers who use triggers to cheat (hitting one stroke to get four strokes.) That is super frowned upon by damn near all musicians in the metal scene and bands who have done it are heavily ostracized. Mario is a phenomenal drummer and really stands out in the sea of stellar drummers who are known today. But what you hear is totally legit in every reputable band in the metal scene. Raw unadulterated talent. Even if they are using triggers to refine their sound within a literal wall of chaotic music behind them. That all said, Mario doesn't use triggers. I say all this as a metal drummer and total music junkie myself.
Music reaction doesn't start until 9:40 They started the video around 9:10, but they paused it again. Oh, they pause it again. Try 10:30 for good measure.
Triggers don’t “ make one hit sound like 4” lol when a drummer uses triggers there just changing the sound and mix of the drum there’s no adding hits it just makes a more audible hit for the kicks in Mario’s case
Mario Duplantier is 100% one of the best. You two should check out Archspire for some INCREDIBLY FAST drumming. I think Bleed the Future would be a good song to be introduced to them, but Golden Mouth of Ruin has a video where you can see the band play, which I think you would like a lot. Cheers!
Mario doesn't use triggers, and metal drummers don't use triggers to add hits, but rather to sound consistent and to allow them to play very fast without getting winded.
Not always when a drummer use triggers put 2 notes more or something like that, it is more used to trigger some specific sound, Mike Portnoy use Triggers in Images and Words for example
I was there, guys! Metallica was the headliner. People who didn't know them were at least head banging and talking to each other about it. They're something special. Check out Toxic garbage Island or Art of dying. Keep it up! 🤘🏽
Rock in Rio is somewhat of a metal cultural legacy festifal. You should read up on the first Rock in Rio and how it came to be in the history of brazil. Or watch the Global Metal documentary by Sam Dunn
Mario does not use kick pedal triggers. A lot of drummers that use triggers newer drummers. Lamb of god, behemoth, Slipknot, fear factory… none of them use triggers. If you want a good drum performance I would listen to Gojira- from the sky live This will help the vote he does fast doubles for like 3 minutes straight.
Can you please react to a great band from Finland, Wintersun - Time (TIME I Live Rehearsals At Sonic Pump Studios). They are a melodic death metal band which I think you will like
Triggers do not play multible notes per hit. Every single note you hear in being played. Every death metal or extreme metal band uses triggers, especially when playing over 200+ BPM. That's because otherwise it will probably just sound like a jumbled mess. All triggers do is make each drum hit more pronounced and easier to hear, and it makes the sound engineers job much easier. Mario, however, doesn't use triggers.
love your comment and your réact ! réact to "when dragons dwell " live hellfest 2013 , amazing ! thank's ; you are les enfants sauvages ! kiss from france : bisous de france ; Corinne
If you're looking for Mario's Best drum performance in a song, It is undisputably "The Art of Dying"
best live drums for me is where dragons dwell but yeah the art of dying is crazy good when he's that good there are no wrong answers haha
The art of Dying is a masterpiece
From The Sky is not bad either...😉
Mario is a beast. He's the brother of Joe the singer. He doesn't play drums, he beats them into submission.
actually one one occasion at a concert they changed, Mario played guitar and vocals and joe drum. Joe's druming was surpisingly good and so was mario with his growls

Gojira has never made a Bad song, and Never will
Mario just won 2021 best Metal Drummer!!! He more than deserves it. I'm happy this band is FINALLY getting the recognition they have deserved since the Mars to Sirius album.. it's only been uphill from there!!!
I got to see these guys live when they toured with Slipknot prior to Covid. They are so insane live.
Same, they opened for Slipknot but still blew em out of the water imo
Triggers don´t mean 2 sounds on one hit, they just trigger a sound. You explain it better than I would, I’d have to talk it out to folks. Curious, what part of the Francophone world are you from?
@@LexieLPoyser France, even though I don't live there anymore
This is one of my favorite songs not just by gojira but in general. Its even my ringtone! Lol. I love Gojira! 😁🤘
Hello from New England...Yes, more GOJIRA!!! I saw them back in August and they once again put on the best show I've ever seen. Y’all helped me decide what I’m wearing to work today… my l’enfant sauvage t shirt 😊
❤️ Gojira so much 🤘🏽
React To Gojira Where Dragons Dwell live Hellfest 2013
Pray - Gojira live at Red Rocks is one of their best live performances. The Art Of Dying studio version is arguably Mario’s best drum performance
Subbed, because you're such likable guys. And yes, Mario is a beast!
They are badass in concert. I hope to have the chance to see them again at some point.
Mario is the best. Period. Just ask any drummer
Just saw them, Alien Weaponry, and Knocked Loose last month. Show was epic!
Same here, great show
I saw them two nights in a row - Knoxville and Chattanooga. So amazing! They’ve been my favorite band after discovering them about a year ago, dethroning Rush. I never ever thought I’d say that.
Finally!! Thank you!!
They've been my favorite band for a few years. They are excellent in concert.
Just found your channel. Throwing some names out for some bands you may not have reacted to; Lordi (not Lorde, this is a metal band from Europe), Mindless Self Indulgence, and Justice (recommend their song Stress).
Check out “Where Dragons Dwell” for some lengthy bass drum action lol. “Silvera” is one of my favorites from them.
Mario is drum god! That bell and snare lick in the verse is damn smooth.

Mario can sit at the same table as Danny Carey and yet he is humble as hell. He actually Idolizes Lars.
amazing drummer but i disagree by linking Danny with Mario
One hundred percent agree. Mario is a beast
Hell-o from France 🤘🖤🤘
Mario is the best metal drummer around right now hands down!
You two are so much fun to watch!
Hi bro's this was a very amazing and this song was also very very good !
I wait every day to from you same new reaction ! Bro's you are the top of the top ! Greatings from germany ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Travis Barker remix Forever.......best drummer video.
You know Mario is good when you get amazed by him knowing Danny Carey… I knew Gojira with this song, hooked since that car ride

I have been a metal drummer for 25 years. And Mario is one of the best drummers I have ever witnessed!
Triggers are for the same type of hit so the sound is consistent. It doesn't make it faster .
Nile - Vile Nilotic Rites
Drummers can use pedals that not only can be moved up and down, also from left to right to make more bpm. First time i saw this was in the drumcam video from "thy art is murder- atonment". This is the kind of thing you can't show a beginner. He will instantly quit.

I think Mario has just been named best metal drummer of 2021
esoteric surgery by gojira is a good one for the double pedal .

There is no shame to compare Mario to Danny man, that is a fair assessment that even they would agree to.
joe sounds like he was havin a hard time singing wonder if he was sick
John Bonham.....the greatest pre Danny Carey....💯
Is Gene Hoglan in this contest if not it's a travesty!
Usar trigger en vivo y tocar lo que toca Mario es mucho más arriesgado.
