Hell yes! This is one of my favorite live videos of them! This song goes so hard and Joe puts his everything into this performance and his voice is fucking perfect! He’s tapping with his guitar pick for that solo. So much you can do on guitars without strumming brother. 🤘🏼

I work in the industry and see hundreds and thousands of drummers every year. I've seen Danny Carey, I live down the road from Brann Dailor, I use to date Morgan Rose's sister, I've seen almost everybody on every list of all of your polls. Mario Duplantier is the best I've ever seen.
Thats interesting. Danny and Mario are 2 different genres they drum for. However, Danny has always been on a pedestal all his own, but i have since added mario to that pedestal. Both are on another freaking level no one can touch nor do they dare to.

Being brothers make their connection strong
The bass player is the invisible hero of Gojira. He is the one playing the rhythm like a tireless swiss machine, which gives freedom to Mario to "enlarge" the "rhythmscape" of the song.
You always need a guy (or a gal, or a computer, someone or something...) to be precisely on beat, so that the others can play around the beats. usually it's the drummer. For Gojira, it's the bass player.
the lead guitarist and singer is Joe Duplantier Mario's big brother... so they have a special link and they compose most of the music together...

@@chrono050 No, in the 80's aWa and all the many territories all had wrestlers coming out to real music. Road Warriors had "Iron man" Fab. Freebirds played Skynyrd just to name a couple. Even Hogan came out to "Eye of the tiger" in 80's for a little bit.

Gojira's live shows, which I've attended in a small indoor venue a couple years ago, are second only to Tool's.
Toxic garbage island, Where dragons dwell live 2013 Hellfest and From the sky would be some songs to hear and enjoy Mario`s immense talent.

You turn the edge of the pick towards the fret on the neck and perform a tapping which is hitting the string fast against the neck with the edge of the pick.
Definitly live, the quality is amazing. You can find some old versions from early 2000 where the sound quality at least, on the record wasn't that good.
But every live video since 5-7 years at least got amazing quality, and I think it's very important due to the drums, and the way they play the guitar as well, with not very usual sounds, to have a great audio set up in the concert hall or festival they plan

Joe is using the side of his pic to "trill" and get the same effect of hammering on and pulling off the string(s). Joe Satriani uses this skill a lot in his guitar soloing.

There is not a word to describe how much I love Gojira, with that said Mario tears those drums apart. Apparently Opeth has had 2 different drummers, and though I like Opeth, out of the drummers Mario wins hands down. Mario is so technically tight and his skill is on another level. He and Danny should do a drum off that would be AMAZING!
About the guitar playing you where talking about.. He's tapping. Not strumming. And if he was strumming by the neck, it would sound warmer. If you strum by the bridge it would sound crisper.

I think that Gojira is also very credible in sound, texture and sphere on their albums. A band like Nightwish for example has got really two faces: live and studio are almost incomparable.

We were doing like 85 in 35 zones through backwood towns in the middle of nowhere headed for Carbondale Illinois at like 3:00. he did fairly well at handling a 16 passenger van. I suppose he is a handsome man. And he was doing all the regulating.

I think Gojira are great but Mario doesn't compare to other drummers in the genre, especially not in general. About like I don't consider Joe and Christian guitar heroes. Great band and songs though
never knew how to pronounce this song.. one of the few songs i'll actually go out of my way to listen to.... Danny Carry is still a better drummer.
