    00:40 Yes, you should be able to wiggle it like you show. It's a ball joint at the knuckle end of the outer tie rod end, and it's a ball joint at the rack and pinion end of the inner tie rod.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. I wish my tie rod was that easy to remove. I used your tips to make a video showing how I removed my stuck tie rods.

      Thanks! I hate spending 2-10x as much to take them to a shop... thats the main reason I do work myself most the time.

      Not quite as easy and quick but not too bad. You save so much money doing it yourself though!

    Haven't worked on a car in a few years now. Last thing I did was replace brake lines on a Taurus lol. When getting a bubble flare kit make sure you get the male and female pieces 😂😂

    Those zerks can sometimes be a pain putting them in so I put the fittings in before I put the tie rod on the car. For alignment take a string or tape measure to align the wheels. Have your steering wheel straight measure at the back of the tires and the front of the tires. I use the outside groove in the tires to measure from. The measurement should be shorter in the front of the tires. You want to have a little toe in.

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  6 років тому

      Great tip using the string. Maybe Ill try that method when I have to replace the ball joints...which are needed too/

    I need to replace inner tie rods. I see two delco options : 45A0888 and 26100288 which is for 'nonvariable" steering. about 50.00 difference...but how do I tell which one works on my 2006 Trailblazer LS?

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  5 років тому

      Thats a good question. Im not familiar with the difference.

    Wish you would say what wrench to use in the tie rod end. You used 7/8 for the lock nut, but what wrench for the other nut on rack and pinion?
