You can't deny that it sounds pretty cool, though; It's like an electric guitar playing power chords. It even sounds like it has a 4/4 time signature and a medium tempo, so in a way, this virus turns your floppy drive into a rock song, but without drums or a singer.
Dan: *chilling with Solitaire* CyberRiot: Hey, Dan! Ever heard a floppy disk get reduced to its atomic form and spread across the known and unknown universe? Dan: Oh boy.
I kind of wish I could have captured one virus I happened across somewhere between 2000 and 2002. Someone I was letting use my computer (in exchange for him paying for the internet) got it infected with something Christmas themed. Literally, whatever it was changed the entire theme to Christmas colors, changed the background to a winter scene, started snowflakes falling on the screen, and even had a Santa on a sleigh flying around the desktop. It didn't "seem" to do any actual harm, but to be on the safe side I did a format and reinstall. If I knew then what I know now, I would have tried to capture it and store it on CD or something to play around with now that I know a lot more than I did then. During the same time period, that guy also infected the computer with something that would open and close the CDROM drive. That is all it seemed to do. It would open the drive tray, wait a few seconds, then close it. Over and over and over. One good thing about all the viruses that guy ended up infecting the computer with is that it put me on a path to learn more about security and eventually Linux. Linux is what stopped that guy from infecting the computer anymore lol. Antivirus at the time sucked hard. I did manage to get hold of a keylogger that wasn't detected by any security software then or over the years. Every so often I will dig it out of my archives to scan it and every time it comes back "clean". Too bad it no longer actually functions due to changes in Windows. It was simple. You would get it to launch, maybe on startup. It would log every keystroke and mouse click. Then once the log got to a certain size, it would email it, clear the log, and create a new log. That keylogger is what got me to finally realize that antivirus software sucks. Sure, it can catch a lot of things, but it also misses a lot of things.
I've never liked drive sounds..... They're scary to me. I mean imagine 2am playing Solitaire and your virus activates and rapes your Floppy Drive and your PC and just starts blazing away with loud screeches and all your lights are off....... I knew a guy once who still used Windows 3.0 in 1999. This was because his computer was too old to handle 3.1. It took about 3 minutes to boot up from floppy and then about 2 minutes to load and run Windows Write, because Windows Word didn't exist on 3.0 (as far as I can remember). He was a writer and basically used 3.0 as a typewriter with a screen.
This virus attacked the computer around the time the original Jumping Flash came out on the Ps1. That guitar riff is far more pleasing than most of the new stuff on the radio today.
