I feel like Porsche is one of the few auto makers that still understand what a drivers car is.
I mean, they even still use analoge gauges and have a "ignition key" instead of push start.
I think if that were fully true, they'd still offer a manual with the RS model.
@@mistamaog They offer it on the GT3, but on an RS it makes little sense. With that type of acceleration and performance, a manual seems more like a burden than an enjoyment. The assumption is, if you're buying a GT3 you're going to take it to a track and try to get the maximum performance, not necessarily maximum "experience"
@@michaelgeorge4643 I can understand it with the GT3, but with the GT4, the only way you can get the high revving 4 liter is with the auto ☹️ and it sounds so glorious with that intake system the GT4 RS has.
@@mistamaog I feel you, I think Porsche probably did some analysis and realized that the option for manual would be so low that offering it would make production more of a hassle? I'm not sure how it works on their end
I hate keys. Push start all the way!
Im going to play this audio on my morning commute -- If I close my eyes and drive, my Sonic becomes a Porsche!
My camry became a Porsche😂
It honestly feels like most people on the road drive with their eyes closed
Sonic RS gang
Probably shouldn’t drive with your eyes closed though
Lol I’m glad I’m not the only one that does this lol I love playing car videos loud in the car. Porsche’s always sound incredible.
You’re supposed to drive cars like these, not keep them in a garge. Good job!
I agree so much. Cars are made to be driven. If you can’t or don’t want to drive it regularly, it isn’t really a car any more. Plus, why spend so much money to not enjoy something every day.
Yeah it always makes me cringe when I see crazy cool cars with barely any miles. I laughed so hard when I heard Jay Leno say, "is your wife also a virgin?" When talking about people who have exotic cars with little miles.
Everyone is unic and has a unic point of view. If they want to keep in the garage, let them. And it's rare to see people like that, you don't see people letting the cars in the garage. And it's an investment. If the owner wants to buy a car for investment, you don't put miles on it.
If they want to buy the car for investment, putting miles on it won't be good
@@gabrielneto2430 cars are rarely a good investment. Yes, there are examples that turn out to be good investments, but most the time they are a cost and the more you pay, the more you lose. That’s fine as long as you can afford it and enjoy them. But spending a lot of money on beautiful cars and not enjoying them seems a terrible waste to me.
The crispness (is that a word?) of the upshifts and downshifts from this PDK are really unmatched. 9000 is unreal. I'm impressed when my car hits 8000 but 9000 with that intake and engine is just bloody outrageous.
crispyness
i love how tedward blurs the digital speedometer but not the analog one
i noticed that too lol
Some sounds are just heaven to a petrol head. This is one of those sounds. It sounds like a thoroughbred which it truly is but yet cruises comfortably at less than 2000rpm. If this sound doesn’t do it for you, you must be dead inside. 😄
You can buy a GPS at truck stops that are made for semi's, that allow you to input vehicle dimensions so it will avoid low bridges, routes you shouldn't be on, etc. For the fueling while they're getting delivered. Yes this is true, at older stores. New stores use composite tanks (no rust), have one or two inline filters from tank to pump, plus there's a filter inside the pump and at the hose breakaway. So it's true, but not true. Source: I've been hauling and playing with fuel for about a decade and I've asked multiple techs that come to meter the pumps and service the underground tanks.
We have one :). It’s a garmin
Just wow!!! Sounds soooooo good. The specification on the car is beautiful.
Amazing car and great video!
what sets apart the Cayman sound is that its just beautiful, its impressiveness doesn't come from sounding wild, powerful and dramatic like other Supercars, its just beautiful without being dramatic, it stands out.
"The [housing] market is so depressing and horrifying everytime I look at Zillow that maybe I should just live in a tent and buy a GT4RS instead..."
Glad to know I'm not the only one who's thought that. These vids are awesome, thanks man.
Tedward does it again by commuting with one of my dream cars!
@malcolmn.5222 Will do! Thanks for the motivation 🫡
@@malcolmn.5222 and other still dream about commuting in a car which doesn't belong to staying in traffic. What I meant in a previous comments is that I'd find better roads to drive a GT4 than stroads and traffic which goes the same speed on all three lanes.
I honestly believe after both watching countless videos and driving several vehicles, this hands down is the single best sounding six cylinder vehicle sold today and maybe ever. Absolutely wicked.
17:00 here in brazil all fuel stations are "full service", you arent allowed to fill your own tank and honestly i like it, the fuel stations have lots of employers so you are never waiting, and the person stays with your car until the the refueling is done, is rare to get a bad experience
That works until the cost of labour rises
@@Matthew-ll9ke
^
It's sad if they are that many people so poor and desperate you aren't allowed to pump your own gas anymore
Its always been like this and i prefer to have a professional filling up tanks rather than someone that would be on their phones and spill fuel or do some crazy shit like filling up random containers just because something happened somewhere and there will be a fuel shortage for a while
6:51 that Honda guy had the best day of his life
i like how turning on the captions just describes the engine revving as music
I used to live in Winchester, MA I was so surprised to see the round-about you went buy! Brings back memories, and the car is amazing, keep up the quality videos!
That blue is gorgeous and wow that sound from in the cabin!!! ❤
That comment about being a truck drivers is spot on 9:50 and as a truck driver myself I gotta deal with this on a daily basis and traffic isnt too kind if your governed to 65 lol gotta love it
14:50 "OMG is that a Shadow, holy cow can't believe that's still running" LOL, true!
Love the car, the spec, the video. The right engine, the right redline, even the right color. The right owner. The PDK is a legit marvel. That said, I still prefer a manual. That's the reason I'm not buying one. And I'm sticking to that story. But if you gave me one...
Okay that is for sure my dream car. The sound and the responsiveness, oh my god.
Has a GT4RS, notices the Dodge Shadow in the background. True car guy moment!
The 4RS is really good in many ways. It’s one of those drive / ride to believe it cars. Thanks for sharing
This is the perfect car for anyone who loves power and feel. It has analog gauges, supported by a small screen. Beautiful, simple interior while not going the plain, straight, and rectangular modern style. It's so beautiful inside and out. It sounds amazing. And from whatever I've heard about it, everyone agrees that it drives fantastically. I want one myself😆😭
Loved your reference to the 997 as the GT3 RS 4.0 was my favourite car util the GT4 RS came along!
Honestly love how you talked about overcoming fears during this video... I feel my mind works in a similar way... nothing to be fearful of!
This is the Porsche with the best sound. Insane. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a ride, hats off to the man who spec'd it. Nowadays you see so many cars in different shades of blue that to me it became a common option of a colour that one goes with when they don't want their car to be plain but aren't brave enough for some red or more unusual colours like yellow, green etc. This GT4 RS though, it looks marvelous in that blue and I'm so glad it's got the silver wheels instead of black or indigo. Top notch spec, just a phenomenal car all around although I think you got a bit too excited for that GT3 take 😬
Bright colors don’t look good on this car cuz of all the black race trim
@@BRAINFxck10the GT4RS that throttle house reviewed is my dream spec. I believe it was a gunmetal grey color (I know that it was def dark, just not black) with the weissach package. THAT is perfect.
@@kugelschreiber5678 oh yeah that’s the best spec, it was fully loaded! Artic Grey paint with Indigo Blue magnesium wheels over yellow ceramic brakes and the Weissach pack had the Deep Sea Blue interior to match the wheels..perfection.👌
One of the best sounding cars hands down
Just picked up our 4rs today! Insane timing on the video!
I like how garage 42 just lends you a Porsche like it’s candy
I'm not often jealous but that spec is just about perfect.
at 11:50 your speed was still on waze 😉
I was driving my GT4 today and a GT4RS pulled up next to me. Making me so damn jealous
I love how you hid that mph display but the analog gauge is still there on the left
oh I love this! Keep up the good work Tedward!
Man this car makes me genuinely emotional. Incredible. Truly.
Nicely done. We all need a friend like Dave. 👍
The fact we can make stuff like this blows my mind. It’s just so damn good
“Somehow this landed in my driveway.” Typical Tedward. 😆
When someone asks what my dream car is, I always say gt4 rs. If you’re a real enthusiast, you’ll understand. The air intakes and the sounds at 9k rpm is just fathomless!
I love absolutely everything about this car with the only exception being the appearance. It certainly is not ugly, but I think the 911 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, so I always compare it to big brother.
Agree on the size. I got my 4RS recently and back to back with my 991.1RS it is noticeably smaller and more usable. So much so that I just sold the 3RS.
the induction noise, i could listen forever
That car is absolutely gorgeous! Such a beast!
9:52 sucks to jump across from the right over to the far left for 90-West towards NY. Enjoying the vids tough!
Watching the tach needle is incredible. You’ll miss it reposition if you blink.
One hell of a morning commute, nice porsche
This is my favorite Porsche.
My neighbor has an orange one and every single time I see him on the road, he's at 9k rpms 😂 can't blame him though!
"have a friend with impeccable taste "
And lots of money 😂😂😂 that part matters far more
oh golly what a piece of art
Absolutely my favorite Porsche. If I won the lottery this is my first car I’d get.
best car review channel on YT I enjoy your videos so much man
8:25 there’s two spots the state troopers sit in with in the next mile of where you are right now. There’s two turn arounds that they park in for hours a day.
"non verbal aged child" killed me LMAO
As a German it’s hard to see such cars not being pushed to at least 250 km/h
Seen a lot of 4RS' at this point, but wow,....this spec might be my favorite. Well done, owner
13:33 Porsche-Tec kicked in yo!
Great car. Great video.. made especially great by the hilarious attempt to blur out the speed, when it's also being shown unblurred on the sat nav 🤣
I saw a black GT4 RS a few weeks back with yellow highlights and since then I've been obsessed! Am I also the only person on earth who gets way too excited about the door handles in these ;)
I just got my first BMW and one day I will have a Porsche! Keep working hard and everything is achievable people.
You are the best man love your videos
IMO this is the Porsche to have right now. Small and gorgeous
We dyno tested this car and it made 420 wheel on a mainline prohub dyno. this was in florida with a pretty high DA. the car has great acceleration and it amazing
Just love the 4RS
The thing you miss from a PDK with a manual is that brup sound it makes when it shifts up under acceleration. The crisp gear changes in general are an out and out better driving experience than a manual.
As usual, amazing video. I am still here with my Fiesta ST admiring all the awesome cars you get to drive hoping one day i'd be able to as well.
the right kind of music for your commute!
Heaven on wheels! Thank you for sharing these amazing experiences.
kerfuffle 😭thank you tedward i will be adding this to my vocabulary
We still have a handful of crown vic PD cars in service here in Tucson. I usually see them a few times a week on my commute to and home from work.
I remember the coverless Cayman video! What a throwback!
I love how he blurs the speed the 2nd time, but the first time he just shows him going 113
That sounds like heaven
6:53 ahaha the way that Pilot disappears😂
the downshifts are unreal
The sounds are delicious. But… if you COULD get these in a manual that would be the penultimate Porsche today. I would sell my home body and soul to have one. I wonder if there’s a company that can convert it?🤔
Wheels look incredible.. wow
love your videos dude!
Fabulous Porsche!! You lucky guy!!!
Pedal. Perfectly. Teclghy oerfact tiptronic man o er fefetin😅
The exhaust sound is music to my ears 😂what a great RS.
what a beautiful spec! Great video! 😍
Just got out of my 992 GT3 RS, and now getting into my GT4 RS. TBH, my manual 992 GT3 is my favorite. You can see them on my channel, including my 992 GT3 Cup and Macan S.
totally makes sense to live in a tent and drive a porsche
Understood!
Not sure why everyone thinks the 718 is so much smaller than the 992. It's only an inch smaller in width and a couple in length (1.2 and 2.5 to be exact). Plus the 718 has a longer wheelbase by about 1.3 inches. People tend to forget that the 718 Cayman/Boxsters have been growing as well.
They haven't grown nearly as much in the same time. For actual dimensions for the baseline mid engined cars, the 718s are only about 2" longer than the 986 boxsters. Same width. The GT cars are slightly longer because of the much more aggressive splitters.
Wheelbase is less than an inch longer on the 718 compared to a 992, which is much closer than it was for 986 vs 996. That was nearly 3" difference. The 911 wheelbase has grown by about 4" in that time, and the cayman/boxster has grown about 2.4"
Plus... the 718 drives smaller.
@@uberyoyo I've driven both extensively. I own a 911 992. The wheelbase on the 718 is more than an inch longer, but either way. The reason the 718 feels smaller is because of the psychological 'feeling', not the mechanical or handling. Having no rear seat or that large space behind you makes the car feel much smaller.
ultimate driving machine
Make the financial space and buy one. That motor is glorious.
I’d pick this over any American supercar .
Thanks @tedward. Now I need to go find one.
you could also be like that guy Matt Foley who lived in a van down by the river! 🤣
There's frigin' nothing like a Porsche.
Fuel goes through multiple filters before it gets to the pump. You don't have to worry about sediments when the gas station is getting refilled. That said I'd do the same thing with someone else's 150k+ exotic.
the shifts are unbelievable
3 sec in and i already had a eargasm
I wondered about that gas thing too, however they do have filters at the pump.
It just SINGS!!!
The only thing I looked at half of the time was the windshield wipers skipping on the front lol. Have to adjust the wipers a little so it isn't pressed so hard against the front windshield.
At 3:32 one of the 300 Focus RS Red Edition can be seen on the right
