I'm aware about the the new GW intellectual property guidelines not allowing fan animations. My contact at GW is surprised as well, and is looking into it. I'll keep yall posted.

There is no legal basis for this for them, you are putting out content for free you do not need to stop pateron or anything else as you are not demanding a charge for views. Their stuff is not done on any legal ground, Anyone can make anything based on anything as long as they are not charging to have it or view it or saying that you are an official (look to Star Wars fan films as a great example) Also all of their stuff is based off other peoples stuff major movies and books ha this is all scare tactics.

Maybe GW would look a bit better if they communicted with their fanbase on what exactly they are bargaining up with the animators they force to unplug their animations. Until now we only ever saw good animations disappear and the artists behind them telling the community how glad they are for the chance of working with GW now. I've seen both your's and valraks videos, referring to a general uneasiness towards GW's actions. You should try contacting other 40k lore channels and lore channels in general and see if lore falls under fair use. If so, tell GW to eat shit if they come after you

I knew it! Y'all said I was being paranoid, but nope. I knew they'd force people that resisted to either die in court, or demonitize.
That said, harassing Soda-Z is just wrong. If anything, y'all should harass GW, though that's basically impossible. Not buying their shit, however, is possible.
There shit can't even compeat with an hour of modeling and a 3d printer, they take a year just to come up with a new model when I could make a brand new one in a few days and have it printed when I'm done modeling it. I know how to model and animate, however I currently don't have a pc or a 3d printer, I'm just aware of what I can and can't do if I can get my hands on both.

Not only are many more people involved, you'd have to be out of your mind to think you can sculpt GW level kits in an hour, especially with the limitations 3d printing impose.
Shouldn’t be harassing anyone. Warhammer is GW’s property. They have every right to assert ownership over their brand, and offering content creators paid work is a great situation.

I love your animations and am glad you turned down GW's offer, since all the channels that accept it have to take down their videos from UA-cam, which I personally think is a huge mistake for GW, but since when were they the sharpest tools in the shed
While 40k is what got me in your channel, I would be perfectly okay with animations of every other saga.

No they didn't. He's been profiting off GW's IP for a while. GW could have easily had him taken down all the videos in their entirety and taken him to court over this, and would have won, leading to massive costs and fines.

@@RWJP No they couldn't. 40k is a concept. He's not using any licensed models, textures, voice lines, story, or anything of the sort. Everything he uses and does is custom made, inspired by the world of 40k. They can't do shit for that. With how trash youtube has been, i can understand the demonitization on youtube but they have no power or right to effect anything like patreon for him animating. It's not like his patreon is even about 40k, it's just so people who like his content can donate to help him keep doing what he likes.
Yes, they could. 40k is more than a concept. Whether his models are custom made or not is irrelevant. If I custom animated an Iron Man animation and then started monetizing it, Marvel would sue me. The models he has created are clearly direct copies of the actual models. The DKoK Lasguns are a perfect example of this. GW will have that specific design of lasgun copyrighted. Additionally, the name of the regiment itself is used in the title of one the videos. Again, GW will have that copyrighted.

We see plenty of the small channels get basically pulled down for this, with the focus being on animation channels, but they haven't tried anything on the larger ones, with Alfabusa being the largest one and also technically animating the 40k universe. They're certainly using the excuse of it being their intellectual property to mess with those they know they can mess with. It just seems to be like they're absolutely just jealous of most animators here doing a better job of portraying their own universe.

Wrong. GW can't pull everything down. But they can pull stuff down when it's being monetised. I can say "Cadian", "Adeptus Astartes", "Eldrad Ulthran", "The Swarmlord" as much as I like because I am not monetising what I am doing.
In the end, the simple fact here is that AbsolutelyNothing broke the law by monetising content he had no right to monetise. GW had more avenues of legal recourse available to them, but they chose the softest, gentlest option.

Can I just say, I appreciate your drive and passion for the craft of animation and story telling. Also, I enjoy your voice, it’s enjoyable to listen to your rambling. If you ever need a writer I happen to do some avid writing myself (my screen plays kinda suck but regular narratives I can do all day)
Similar experience with GW sculpting Letter Of Agreements (from applying to become a sculpting mid 2019), terms of contract where terrifying so I bailed.

I have to mention how cool your animations are not only on their own merits but in that they show the guard in a more badass manner which has only otherwise been shown recently in the kill team trailer. If you're open to suggestions I'd really like to see what a squad of guardsmen killing a chaos marine in close combat would look like given as it is possible due to the nature of dice rolls.
That always has been in my to-animate list, but I just never got around to it since I couldn't figure out a story for it. Someday maybe.

It's funny how GW thinks that 3d printing will eventually kill their company but they don't understand that this kind of bullshit and horrible business practices such as price gauging and basically doing scalpers work for them by making too few box sets "aside from dominion" is what drives people away from their products and into 3d printing.
At least that's why I started.

You're right, his entire money source did get removed... But GW would have also been well within their legal rights to have him remove all the videos completely, and could have easily taken him to court for IP infringement, which they would have won.
Instead, they took the reasonable option of allowing him to continue making new videos, keep his existing videos up and not end up in court.

GW is the worst thing to happen to 40k in its entire history. Like, 40k is massively popular and successful despite GW's best efforts, not because of them.
You didn't _have_ to demonitize or de-patronize it, fair use still applies to monetized fan works and this is a legal battle GW would not want to start (if they have the brain cells to rub together) as precedence (all that matters in law) is against them.
