You should listen to the Highlander soundtrack! ❤ And yes I do think this is the most universally loved song of the last 50 yrs at least! Of not it should be!
This is by far the best Queen song ever. I loved this song for a long time. I recall doing the whole Wayne's World movie scene with my buddies while playing this song. Good times, good times.
Your reaction was precious. My favorite Queen song is an older one _Killer Queen._ The song has a clever lyric and great music with accents peppered through it. The solo guitarist, Brian May, had been working on his doctorate in Astrophysics when he joined the band. After Freddy Mercury passed away the band went on hiatus. During that time he decided to finish his doctoral thesis, a difficult analysis of dust in interstellar space, and in 2007, at the age of 60, became Dr. Brian May. This year he was knighted by King Charles, and is now fully titled as Sir Doctor Brian Harold May. _I am not worthy!_ If you haven't already considered Guns n' Roses, then try _Welcome to the Jungle._ I still think a departure from classic rock might be in order for a change. You might enjoy Billy Joel's _Piano Man_ or Harry Chapin's _Taxi._
I put down Fat Bottom Girls because I have been listening to it alot lately. But, I totally forgot Killer Queen. I love that song. And the video is a must.

I'm so glad to see your reaction to this one! I consider Freddie Mercury to be the best singer every - his voice is incredible, his sense of timing, etc. We lost him much too young.
Great video as always Diane! FYI Canadian music icon Gordon Lightfoot passed away yesterday. He was about as quintessentially Canadian as maple syrup and ice hockey. Not sure if it’s a good fit for a reaction video or not, but take a listen to a song or two if you want. His hits include The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Sundown and If you could read my mind.
My favorite Queen song is "The Show Must Go On". Not only my favorite of theirs, my favorite song ever since I was 12. It will never be dethroned. Freddie Mercury is the best of all time!
When Bohemian Rhapsody came out, I first heard it on a local radio station. I was totally blown away as nothing had ever sounded like that! Then I had to wait to find out what group this was as the station played a few songs in a row then said what they played. Very shortly after that and a visit to a record store, I bought A Night At The Opera.
Saw them at the Santa Monic Civic on this Tour in 1976. It seated 2500 people and they only played three nights. Saw them 10th row first night and 11th row last night but Freddy had a little runway that went to the 10th row so we were front row and Freddy would lean out over us and drip his sweat on us. BEST CONCERT EVER!!! They never played anything this small in L.A. again. Sooo blessed! Saw Bowie in '73 and it was an incredible show but nothing like Queen. Check out their first four albums, like Zep, they are the greatest! Blessings
Happy Wednesday Diane! This was another great song to listen to and react. My first exposure to this song was when I had seen the film "Wayne's World" and saw him and his pals rocking out to this gem! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and reactions to this classic! Have a great rest of your week Diane and be well! 😎👍♥️🎉
Many bands have come and gone. But Queen? Queen will be forever. I don't think they had any idea that they would create a musical legacy that would transcend generations. No auto-tune. No gimmicks. Just four very talented people making beautiful music. My favorites will always be "Somebody to love" & "Princes of the Universe" Another band worth giving a listen to: The Animals. Eric Burdon has an awesome voice. "House of the rising sun" & "Don't let me be misunderstood"
Even though you’ve heard Queen before, this was a great choice Awesome music, great lyrics, plus Freddie Mercury’s voice Your lip-syncing and conducting, really had me amused And the OG’s will remember: No synthesizers were used!
Diane's reactions are heart-warming. It's like hanging out in forgotten times, sharing our feelings for some verrry cool music. Suggestion: an obscure but my fave haunting tune, by Police, "The Bed's Too Big Without You"
Great choice Diane. I saw a Freddy M. interview where he said he was influenced by all the great singers of the 1960's and that he wanted to put on a show when they performed. They definitely entertained and had great "diction" for not being from Ireland. Very impressive "conducting", by the way!
Thank you for sharing your personal relationship with the song. Your animation of the video added a dimension that made your posting extra enjoyable. Press on, girl. 👍👍👍
Melancholy Blues is a great track. Not many people would know that one. Very different style for a rock band. Shows how many different music genres Queen mastered.
I really loved watching your enjoyment of this song! There is no one like Freddie Mercury & Queen for showmanship - they are incredible. One of my favorite Queen songs is Who Wants to Live Forever written by Brian May for the film Highlander (1986) and also used in the Highlander TV series (1992 - 1998).
I love how you conduct during this song! Then you sway your head and just get lost in the music, just awesome! Queen is such a great band to get lost in their music!

Just wondering if you could react to a Gordon Lightfoot song. He past on May first. You might dig “the wreck of the Edmond fizgerald”. It’s a bit of a sea shanty. “If you could read my mind” is also a great song.

Queen is the pinnacle of what it is to be a live performance band. They had the greatest front man of all time, paired with one of the greatest collection of musicians ever. My favorite Queen song is Who Wants To Live Forever. It just doesn't get any better than Queen.
This song, written by Mercury, stands out both in composition and arrangement. It's quite an achievement to create a rock song that's only 5 or so minutes long with about ten different sections that hangs together so well. For future rock tune vids, I'd lean to Irish bands, of which there are many good ones for a country that size. I'll recommend a song from before you were born, The Man Who Built America, by Horslips, which was heavily played by station WXRT radio in Chicago when it came out. Of course there are a few more widely known bands from Ireland. I won't name Them but no doubt many are familiar to U too.
This was of course a hit at the time it was released, but over the years its stature has grown and it is easily one of the most beloved songs of the rock era. The producer, Roy Thomas Baker, was known for using overdubs of both instruments and voice, and the vocal overdubs were particularly prominent on Bohemian Rhapsody, at times stretching the capabilities of the 24-track tape technology of the time. The technique involved recording multiple takes and then layering them on top of each other. This layering created the choir illusion on some parts of the vocals and the otherworldly sound of Brian May's guitar. Naturally all these takes required weeks to accomplish and then mix together. In all, the song required over 180 overdubs. The song was intended as a parody of bombastic opera music, but over the years it has become regarded as art in its own right. Being someone who appreciates guitar, I have to note Brian May's "Red Special" guitar. He and his father designed and built the guitar when Brian was a teenager. Since May could not afford a Gibson or Fender, he made his own guitar, using wood salvaged from a fireplace mantle and an old table. By the way, in addition to being a guitarist, Dr. May is also an astrophysicist.
Somebody to love is my favorite of their songs. The live aid concert is a great recommendation. Freddie is one of a kind, and he was 100% on during that concert. Not only is his voice one of the best ever, but he was the personification of "Rock Star."
Their best song is "Who Wants to Live Forever", used in "Highlander", one of the best movies. There are two versions on the "Kind of Magic" album. The second one is entirely instrumental. Both hit harder with hindsight, when we know Freddy's eventual fate.
Back in the '70s in the San Francisco Bay area we will rock you and We Are the Champions always played back to back on the radio. They will always be one song to me. My favorite.
Favorite Queen song? Gotta go with You're My Best Friend. Not because it's their best musically. Not even close; it's a simple little song. But it's been one of those that I share with my wife, who's absolutely my best friend. So... Fun reaction!
Always a good choice Diane. It looks like you were really getting into the conducting however, I had no idea what you were trying to say. I’m just glad you got a chance to say it.
Not all American school choirs are "Glee" style. Even my tiny school (waaay back in the 80s) had both a pop style "swing choir" and the more formal style you described where diction was very important and a dropped consonant was indeed frowned upon 🙂
Great band Diane! This song may be the best known song from pre 2000. This one and Don't Stop Believin' by Journey even 2 year olds in Indochina have heard them too much lol. Somebody to Love is my favorite song my Queen. Happy Wednesday!
Loving this series, Diane! Gotta keep it up! So, if you're doing 70's music that you've never heard before, then you need to check out Three Dog Night "Road to Shamballah". My favorite song EVAR.
I remember the song Road to Shamballah from when it was featured in an episode of Criminal Minds. I never knew it was from Three Dog Night. Do you know the meaning of the band's name, Three Dog Night? It's of Aboriginal/ Native Alaskan origins. If it was really cold at night you'd have your dogs sleeping with you for warmth...the more dogs you had for warmth, the colder the night was, so a three dog night was pretty chilly. Just some trivia I thought I'd share with you. 😊😊👋 Greetings from eastern North Carolina!
Lovely video Diane! An amazing song! Great movie too! So many great classics by Queen. Love these music video reactions! Maybe some more 80's Hair Bands, like: Poison, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, and lots of others!
Iconic song, of course and perfectly executed by every band member. My favorite Queen song/Performance is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 12/24/1975. It is an amazing performance, it gives me chills every time I hear it and I have heard it a lot. Thank you for your reaction.
My 13 year old granddaughter heard this song when her mom played it on the radio in the car. A went nuts over it. She must have listened to that song 10 times that day and was singing along by then. If you want to see the best performance of Queen watch the video of 1984 Live Aid. It was said it was not only the best performance of the festival but, seen as one of the best performances of rock ever. It's like 20 minutes long but, you will be stunned and be as excited as the crowd that day.
Queen Bohemian Rhapsody Good Choice. Another good Queen song to listen to is Crazy little thing called Love. First thing I think of is Wayne's World Every time I hear this song. I took choir in middle school 7th through 9th grade. The majority of us have sang this song playing on the radio in the car. One of the most sung songs in karaoke. The Rock Guitar Solo legendary. I like the theatre acting effect, singing, and air guitar you added to the video you rock. Chewie looks partied out like he needs some sleep stat. Thanks for making the world a better place one rock video at a time. A recommended Band to Review is Journey. Happy Rock N Roll Wonderfully Weird Wednesday Party On. 🎸🎤🎵
Ms Jennings, watching you sing along to Queens Bohemian Rhapsody is a total trip!!! Your hand gestures are magnificent.... Your facial expressions a joy to behold... cute.... funny.... laughable... Loved it!!! Keep up the great performances!
Hi Diane both Brian May and Roger Taylor were advisors on the making of the film Bohemian Rhapsody. The guitar that Brian plays was made by his dad and himself, example, the neck was made from an old mantel and the unit was wired up like other guitar at the time. The guitar is still in working order and Brian still uses it today. When Brian started with Queen he was studying Astrophysics and had to put that on hold. Since the band was not as active as in the early years he completed his degree, CBE in 2005, Doctor of Philosophy 2022, OBE 2023, Knight bachelor 2023.
Great reaction Diane! Incredibly difficult to pick a favorite Queen song! So my five front-runners are: Death On Two Legs Flick of the Wrist The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke March of the Black Queen Now I'm Here
Try _"The Prophet Song",_ which is especially wild on headphones. Or try _"Fight from the Inside"_ or _"Sleeping on the Sidewalk"_ off the album _"News of the World"._ Very different songs! Many others are worthy of a recommendation.
American choirs are typically nothing like Glee. At least not in my part of the South. Everyone stands on risers in matching attire (typically dresses for girls/ black slacks and white dress shirts for boys). A school right across the state line from me won the best choir in South Carolina. That’s a pretty awesome achievement
Generally agree. Our concert choirs wore choir robes, stood with arms at out sides and we sang mostly classical or Latin liturgical pieces (oddly in a secular public high school 🤷♂️). We did have "show choirs" that sang different things with choreography (the men's show choir sang mainly comedy songs like the 12 days after Christmas)
That was also my experience in choirs (Jr. High, High School, and College), but that was in the 1960's/early 1970's, so some change wouldn't surprise me. We wore robes, standing on risers as you describe.
I don't think anything in reality is ever like Glee. That show's reality leaned hard into the reality bending antics of movie musicals where heavily choreographed routines can just spring up spontaneously and sweep up whole crowds of bystanders in their magic.
Bohemian Rhapsody was released in 1975 on Queen’s forth studio album A Night at the Opera. The song went all the way to #1 on the UK charts for its initial release but it reached #9 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1976 but thanks to a film called Wayne’s World in 1992, Bohemian Rhapsody hit the charts again and went all the way to #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for one week. The beginning section is just Freddie Mercury multi-tracking himself. The ballad section features an amazing guitar solo from Brian May which he could hear in his head during the recording of the backing track. With his Red Special that he actually built with his dad, he played the solo which sounds like an entirely different tune but it fits well with this song. For the many voices in the operatic section, it’s Freddie Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor multi-tracking themselves. The rock section is more harsh than the other sections because that’s what really makes it a rock and roll song. The ending section is when the audio dies down and we hear just the fade. For early live performances, the ballad section and ending section were featured as part of a medley with Killer Queen (from Sheer Heart Attack) and The March of the Black Queen (from Queen II). Starting with the tour for A Day at the Races in 1977, Bohemian Rhapsody became a full number and some things were changed in order to be performed live. Since the beginning section was just Freddie multi-tracked, that part ended up being cut from live performances and since you can’t overdub yourself on stage, the sound engineer for the tour turned on the original recording of the song for the operatic section. So the ballad, rock and ending sections were sung live and the operatic section wasn’t sung live and it continues to be sung that way even after Freddie Mercury passed away at the age of 45 in 1991. In 2009, The Muppets covered the song for their UA-cam channel and has received lots of views. The Freddie Mercury biopic with the same name features Rami Malek as Freddie with singing vocals by soundalike Marc Martel.
Enjoyed your reaction to this song. It has long been a favorite of mine. Interesting fact about Brian May, the lead guitarist. (Located top center in the diamond pattern.) He was in a doctoral program when Queen started enjoying success, leading May to abandon his studies. After Freddie Mercury's death, May resumed his studies earning a Ph.D in astrophysics from Imperial College London. Among other projects, he was a "science team collaborator" on NASA's New Horizons Pluto flyby. Should you ever meet Brian May, remember to address him as Dr. May.
One of the greatest songs of all time! And I think that you now have a new character for your channel: Conductor Diane. Great band with a ton of hits and excellent songs. You should watch the film. It's okay and worth a watch.
Thank you so much for taking me back to when the album was released ahead of the single. Rain and the sounds of rocks rolling in a river in flood. And Bohemian Rhapsody being immediately followed by Good Save the Queen (no lyrics).
I'll never forgot the first time I heard this on the radio when it came out. I was driving my car to my sister's house and I had to pull off the road to listen, it was so stunned. When I got to my sister's I couldn't stop talking about it!
You need 2 or you might want to check out the live. A concert from 1985 in which Queen did a 21 minutes set that is considered one of the greatest lives sets of all time. It's amazing Freddy Mercury's crowd control is stunning you have to watch.
On the subject of school music.... Most American high schools have a Jazz Band class. If there is one song that every single one of these classes since 1977 have learned, it's AWB's "Pick Up The Pieces. " It's a very catchy and fun song. All the instruments get a chance to shine. And it's hard but not impossible. I think you'd have fun hearing it.
This is the one rock song I think literally everybody on the planet has probably heard at some point in their life. Even if they don't know who wrote it or anything about the band, they probably would have heard it somewhere or seen a musical number in a movie or a music video with it or something. It gets around and it's still awesome! 😀

This MUST HEAR Classic Comes With An Important Message For Us ALL,, Ralph McTell "Streets Of London"
Not all American school choirs are "Glee" style. Even my tiny school (waaay back in the 80s) had both a pop style "swing choir" and the more formal style you described where diction was very important and a dropped consonant was indeed frowned upon 🙂
Freddie, had one of the all time great voices of any genre, and certainly in Rock.
Great band Diane! This song may be the best known song from pre 2000. This one and Don't Stop Believin' by Journey even 2 year olds in Indochina have heard them too much lol. Somebody to Love is my favorite song my Queen. Happy Wednesday!
Happy Wednesday 🎉
Thank you for this one!! Great way to end my work week!!
Great video and even greater review by Diane! 🤩
I know every single word of this song and have sang it (badly) on many occasions 😂 x favourite queen song is somebody to love
"Under Pressure" best performed live in 1986 at Wembley
One Vision is my favourite Queen song! It is an absolute gem!
I just saw the typo. sorry. It was 1985 Live Aid.
Samesies on Wayne's World lol. Such a great movie!!
Most definitely a car song!!! Thanks Rickey
@@DianeJennings Your Welcome Diane! Carpool Karaoke 🎤🎸🎉🥰
@@JohnMurphy-bo4fe Right Timeless Classic
So my five front-runners are: Death On Two Legs
Flick of the Wrist
The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke
March of the Black Queen
Now I'm Here
Love this reaction, Diane.
🎉
Generally agree. Our concert choirs wore choir robes, stood with arms at out sides and we sang mostly classical or Latin liturgical pieces (oddly in a secular public high school 🤷♂️). We did have "show choirs" that sang different things with choreography (the men's show choir sang mainly comedy songs like the 12 days after Christmas)
That was also my experience in choirs (Jr. High, High School, and College), but that was in the 1960's/early 1970's, so some change wouldn't surprise me. We wore robes, standing on risers as you describe.
🆒
The Muppets version is amazing.
May.
He was also knighted, so it's Sir Dr. Brian May.
One of the greatest songs of all time! And I think that you now have a new character for your channel: Conductor Diane. Great band with a ton of hits and excellent songs. You should watch the film. It's okay and worth a watch.
I think I will!
Thank you so much for taking me back to when the album was released ahead of the single. Rain and the sounds of rocks rolling in a river in flood. And Bohemian Rhapsody being immediately followed by Good Save the Queen (no lyrics).
Queen- Suggestion: "Somebody to Love" Live Montreal 1981 ... Other Suggestion: "Focus : Hocuspocus" Live Midnight Special 1972 (mus be this version)
I don't know how many times I have listened to Bohemian Rhapsody since 1982 when I was in elementary school until now.
I'll never forgot the first time I heard this on the radio when it came out. I was driving my car to my sister's house and I had to pull off the road to listen, it was so stunned. When I got to my sister's I couldn't stop talking about it!
Please watch Queen's performance at Live Aid. Priceless.
Love the conducting so much 😁
Favorite song is Save Me. Heartbreaking, and utter poetry.
Diane’s rocking out my favorite Queen song is somebody to love
You need 2 or you might want to check out the live. A concert from 1985 in which Queen did a 21 minutes set that is considered one of the greatest lives sets of all time. It's amazing Freddy Mercury's crowd control is stunning you have to watch.
Awesome video as usual Diane❤.
You're my best friend is my favourite Queen song. Came at a time that I needed it.
One of the best concerts I've ever seen. Thin Lizzy opening act!
This is the one rock song I think literally everybody on the planet has probably heard at some point in their life. Even if they don't know who wrote it or anything about the band, they probably would have heard it somewhere or seen a musical number in a movie or a music video with it or something. It gets around and it's still awesome! 😀
Bohemian Rhapsody is my favorite Queen song
I’m so glad!! It’s great
