I do love some of those non Phil records, at the same time, NO ONE, can really play drums in AC/DC better than Phil. He is the swing, and the roll in AC/DC’s brand of Rock n Roll.
So much respect for Phil. He is a very humble individual regarding his drumming as he often mentions his deficiencies which I have never seen or heard on LP or live. Nobody can replicate Phils rock groove, he is simply unique. Nice catch Dean and thanks Phil.
The “human metronome”. The boys are back together. I am so incredibly happy that they are. This album is a beautiful tribute to Malcolm! Thank you boys. You make this world a much better place! 🇨🇦 CANADA
Phil is back Ladies and Gentlemen. The Best ever drummer for AC/DC. Great person, great mind, great musician. Always much prefered the original instead of the copies. So welcome back Sir you missed us a lot.
He looks and sounds great, I remember a few years ago when all the shit went down I saw an interview with him and he didn't look like he was very together. So awesome to see he's back on track now!
@@unlucky.guitars He also took Bons death very hard. He had already been having anxiety issues before Bon died, and it just got so much worse after. Like the other guy said, the endless touring just wore him down, and of course, the drugs and drinking. It's still all of Phil's drumming on "Flick of the Switch" so he was still capable of playing as steady as he always did, but as a person was fried.
Dean, what I love about your interviews is that you ask the questions I would ask if I were interviewing these rock stars. I’m 65 and have seen ACDC and Led Zeppelin close to 20 times and the Stones close to 25 times, first concert was Hendrix at the Hollywood Bowl, keep up the great work!
Welcome back great Phil, you are finally sitting where no one else deserves to be, and remember that even without teeth you are the best always ... Cheers for you
2 of my mates in New Zealand are nephews of Phil. We got back stage passes to the Ball breaker concert in NZ (Mt Smart stadium) where we had the honour of meeting Phil and Cliff. Both very humble and cool, down to earth dudes.
So glad to see Phil back. Phil is a special drummer. His contribution to POWER UP adds so much edge and intensity. He is as important to AC/DC as Ringo is to the Beatles. Some drummers just have that something extra, and Phil's got it. You can't fully define it but basically he has that special feel like all the really great drummers. Phil's in the top tier with all the greats.
@@deandelray My fave track on POWER UP for Phil's drumming is Wild Reputation. That is killer, a perfect example of Phil's feel, but the whole album is great. Very solid. Thanks for LET THERE BE TALK, Dean...you cleared up a lot of things I always wondered about. Good work!
@Andrew Young I understand your sentiment. But for me, it's not the talent, it's the fit. He's a great time keeper who keeps up with the tune. Chris Slade is a phenominal, and his style is everywhere. But when it comes to drums, and people talk AC/DC, they usually think Phil Rudd.
Good point. Trouble is, with rock and metal, the younger bands just don't seem to be as good. Maybe it's just me, but the older established acts just seem to be better. Mickey Dee is an older dude now, but is still amazing.

As a long time AC/DC fan who in junior high only listened to AC/DC and would not let visitors to my house sully my record player needle with any other group, I love your interviews. Finally someone who asks interesting questions, questions that get to the quirky things we really want to know after having known the standard stuff for years.
So good to see him back. Phil is THE drummer for AC/DC. Groove. Pocket. Swing. Feel. Timing. He has it all. People think what he does is easy. It isn't. During his dark time a few years ago I felt he was easy meat for journalists. All pretty unpleasant, so it's great to see his smiling again.
@fifthof seagrams Well, I was obsessed with the No Bull concert. I watched it over 100 times until the VHS was so stretched that the image and the sound was f*cked. I played drums for two years and then switched to guitar, not because I was any better, but because I knew I would never had the chance to be that perfect. I switched to guitar and, of course, had the same experience after a short time, but then I really started feeling that it didn't matter. It was just enjoying the music, and I think achieving that is much easier playing guitar o bass.
I do wish we could see this whole interview in video form. This is perhaps the most in depth interview with Mr. Rudd and finding interviews period with the guy is hard enough!
Phil Rudd....The only drummer For AC/DC! Ian Paice said recently that he picked up Cozy Powell's sticks and couldn't believe how thick and heavy they were. They were 'S' grade weight and size, like Timpani Mallets!
@@dominicanbikinibeauties6537 Not at all Sir. I just love Phil and Cliff. However, I am also amazed at the work Malcolm put into his playing. I've learned a few Ac/Dc songs and the rhythm parts aren't just straight forward strumming. He was a great guitarist.

The BEST drummer for my fave rock band.....PERIOD....He has a sound only unique to him that imho NO ONE ELSE can even match..
Oh, this is GREAT! Phil is back. No one like him. The perfect drummer. Feels SO good to hear him on the new song.

THIS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL SEEING THE GUYS BACK TOGETHER; PHIL RUDD IS SO SOLID, IT IS TOTALLY AMAZING!!!
He looks and sounds great, I remember a few years ago when all the shit went down I saw an interview with him and he didn't look like he was very together. So awesome to see he's back on track now!
Phil Rudd is the best beat setter and beat sustainer in rock. He drums like he lives. Edgy yet immaculate timing on every note.
Interviews with Phil aren't very usual, Thanks!
Humble guy. Rock and roll royalty.
Great to see Phil Rudd. He looks great!
Phil is one of the best drummers,he has a powerful beat and very loud !
Watch Phil playing drums. He's got this steady rocking/bobbing motion. Ringo is the same. He puts his body into the beat.
So glad to see Phil back, .....guys a friggin machine on drums!
Phil is back to his handsome and sweet self. His raw talent solid talks will never die or disappoint!
Hey phil - was in the crowd at the Glasgow Apollo in 78' - love you man!
@psycho'si carter What? Malcolm punched him??? Explain please
@psycho'si carter Ohhh. So that's why Phil left the band. It's hard to me have a name and a picture of AC/DC and didn't know about this. Thank you!
@psycho'si carter Yep, I knew that. It's amazing, i really love what Malcolm did to his guitar. I never saw them live, but i hope i can in the future
