I am a drummer and let me tell you this Phil Rudd is spot on. Never ever misses a beat. He is a time keeper and very good at what he does. AND he sounds perfect for AC/DC!!!!
I just noticed how Angus runs around, Brian walks around some, Rudd does his thing while Malcom and Cliff stand by the drum riser until its time for their duties as backing vocals. Then, its back to their respective spots. Fuckin awesome!
@drumtum Have you seen the UA-cam video “Why Phil Rudd is the coolest drummer”? Brian is talking about him, giving him big props and hilarious as well 🤘🤣
I play rock drums myself, I thought I hit hard, watching Phil playing Big Jack @1:40 is insane. He is beating the kit to death. Incredible attack & consistency.
There is a famous clip of Phil changing the snare drum while Bon talks to the crowd before "Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be" so Phil can change his destroyed-ass snare drum
Phil Rudd is my drumming idol because he is the reason i chose to play the drums. For me phil rudd and peter criss are the top 2 greatest drummers of all-time.
God he’s so fucking good. The tempo, the crashes, the swing - every element driven forward in a swelling undertow of rhythm. Brilliant. Also, anyone else catch the killer backing vocals from Cliff + Mal during BiB chorus (around 0:30)?
I'm freaking loving the drum cam ! Straight watching Phil doing his thing is just AWESOME !!! He always was my favorite member of the band. Wishing he was still with them but oh well that's the way it goes sometimes. He will always be AC/DC 's drummer as far as I'm concerned !!!
Thnk U for these vids. Not true drum cam and would love to see whole songs up close, but thnk U! Hard to find good footage of Phil by himself. What a FUCKING MACHIIIIINE!!!!!! I love how his left stick just comes down and cracks that snare with AUTHORITY! No other like him. Finds the pocket and just LAYS IT DOWN AND LOCKS IT IT!!! Goin to see No1 now.
Phil Rudd is a total bad ass. That can't be said about many drummers...but he is in the upper tier of bad ass. Deen Castronovo, Todd Sucherman, Jason Bonham, Tommy Clufetos...similar guys, but he is a few marks above their level in musicality and solid groove. Damn, this stuff is awesome. Thank you!!!
A couple stylistic notes: 1. He doesn’t cross his right hand over his left. He puts his high-hat forward, so he can play with his right hand in front of his left, and deliver those massive backbeats with his left hand unencumbered. 2. He hardly ever hits a crash cymbal with his left hand, and when he does it’s usually only at the end of a song.
I wouldn't call the others drones, Stevie is a Young and Slade was with the band in the 90's, but I agree..the short lived lineup of Scott, Young, Young, Williams and Rudd was the best group of musicians to ever take a stage. They were pure magic.
They ruined it for me. And now Angus seems to want record with Axl wtf?! Ok he did fine on the vocals. But Angus you are fukkin destroying it. You might love it. But i have been a fan since BUYV and i am gutted. Ok its your band. But i am feeling cheated.
I felt the same about Axl at first, but after awhile, after seeing performances on UA-cam, I came to realize that he actually did a very respectable job. The boys were in quite a pinch but really wanted to fulfill what they had agreed to(the rest of the shows). Axl, being a huge fan, offered to fill in as long as it didn’t interfere with any of his obligations. I’m sure Angus was at first leery about it and had to think about it for awhile but I think he ended up very appreciative of the offer. Again, I think Axl actually did a very stand up job(even though he was sitting for a few of the shows with that cast on his leg 😆) and don’t think he ever considered himself “in ac/dc, just genuinely wanted to help out one of his rock-n-roll heroes.
Someone could issue a challenge for one million dollars for video of Phil Rudd legitimately blowing a change or groove in concert. It may exist, because everybody's human (I think), but that must be the most solid groove in the business.
I only ever saw them one time live in 1985 & I think Simon was with them then. Damn I wish I saw this the real total AC/DC line up with Phil. Don't know why I didn't.
Phil, Malcom, and Cliff. The engine room of AC/DC
Angus and Brian take us on the adventure and journey, but with out the solid beat of Phil, Cliff and Mal, we would be going nowhere
Absolutely
Absolutely

Solid as a rock. Accept no substitute.
Phil Rudd - bl@@dy awesome 🥁 🇦🇺
Phil Rudd: The back bone of ACDC
My all time favourite He is the reason I picked up the sticks at 8 years of age Bloody legend ❤
Cliff Williams knows he is the luckiest guy in the world because he has the coolest job in the world, he gets to jam with Phil Rudd.
Have they ever done an interview together, just the 2 of them?
Not to my knowledge...
@@bradss1000 It's time for that.
The way he hits so hard and so consistent at the same time is just amazing
Couldn't agree more. I love it too man
My favourite drummer. He is a machine. Coolest drummer of all time aswell.
For sure ! Mine too !!
Phil GETS INTO IT.
All of AC/DC do...that's what makes them a great live show.
@drumtum Have you seen the UA-cam video “Why Phil Rudd is the coolest drummer”? Brian is talking about him, giving him big props and hilarious as well 🤘🤣
I can watch Phil Rudd play drums all day long.
I'll second that
That's the real AC / DC !!
Phil Rudd ...The Legend from AC/DC..💯💯💪💪💪!!!!
How is Cliff not deaf in his right ear after all this time hahaha. My number one drummer, a BIG hitter! Great video
Beautiful! Just that groove!
Even Angus has to bow down to Phil Rudd from time to time.
Phil Rudd is one of the most underrated drummer's in the business especially the work in his earlier day's with AC/DC 🤘
Phils the only drummer in rock history ,that had an ashtray as part of his kit !!! lol .

with fagg in mouth, classic
During the Bon Scott era, Phil used an average of 2 snare drums a show, he destroyed a snare drum in a matter of around 30 - 40 minutes
There is a famous clip of Phil changing the snare drum while Bon talks to the crowd before "Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be" so Phil can change his destroyed-ass snare drum
Phil is awesome. What a well oiled machine!
It's where he puts the snare.
So simple, so hard to do right.
Axe Man what do you mean? In where he puts the snare. Like the position or the hardness of how to play it?
@@dejulesb7063
I think he means location.
Many times Phil is 'cocked' left a little bit.
I think it has changed over the years.

I think it's all about the accents on the Hihat. It's what makes the girls wanna move their hips.
@@kutnersuicide that's also a big part of it, the 2 work together.
a perfect human drum machine, a genius in rock n roll drumming.
One of the greatest of all time
The simplicity of Phil's kit and his technique made him perfect for ac/dc.
Batero. Contundente y presiso
the philbert used to use quite a different setup years ago -at least 4 rack toms and several more cymbals.
The Best drummer 👍

A couple stylistic notes:
If you watch and listen carefully he focuses way more attention on his hihats than his snare that's the part that gives the relentless drive
C'est magique . .. 🤩🤩
Snare , Bassdrum and a Swinging Hi-Hat that's the Groove that beats you to the floor....and of course a cigarette
Spot on and hits em hard!
Damn he's so good.
Love the Rudd
Its probably easier to add fill than to stay this hard hitting and steady i dunno
The best in the business!
The definition of talent. Nuff said. I feel sorry for the kit.

Why Phil Rudd put a glove ?
Because he hits his left hand harder on snare
He used to tape all his fingers up back in the day.
He also had to save Angus at the Matthew Flinders hotel 🇦🇺 one night in Melbourne (early days) 🤜🏼
