Don't forget to let me know what you guys want to see next! Sorry for all the bird squaks in the background! I've been a bird psycho lately!! Lol!! I no, odd. 🦅🕊
Recently became a bird nerd as well! Really enjoying your channel.. thank you for sharing your knowledge! Question..why does my black patina not look very black?
I found when making overlays that, if I didn’t patina the back of the overlay first, I couldn’t get the patina onto all the solder beads after installation and the silver showed through lighter glass. Live your videos.
3:00 it's refreshing to hear you didn't typically keep any projects till now. It shows you don't have to fill your house with stained just to prove you love making it.
I love your background, and I never thought snowflake until you mentioned it. They still look like stars to me. I think that nightlight is so pretty! 😍
You should definitely try making your own back round lighting! I would love to see you make a moon and star hanging set with possibly some pretty tea lights behind each! I think that would be so cute and pop your aesthetic by a land slide!
Yay! My son bought me this book a few years ago so I’m so excited to see this project. Thank you Makenzie, I truly love your videos and how you explain everything.
Hi there! Ive been looking for some kind of book or directions to make those light up stained glass houses with no luck. (houses, churches, lighthouses.. some kind of building) Can you help?
So that means the foil isn't being adhered correctly. It could be because you simply have oils on your finger tips when foiling. Could be your not washing your glass well enough and drying before foiling. OR it could be your iron is running to hot. What iron do you have and what is it set too? Are you having issues building a round bead?
Hey Makenzie! Another fabulous video and project. I was wondering where you found the hardware for the night light itself...the bracket, etc. Would love to try this. Thanks for inspiring me to try things outside my comfort zone!
Hey sorry this is 7 months late but I thought I could help!! Most glass shops sell the hardware for nightlights, they're a fairly popular 3-D project, right up there with lamps 😂 if you don't have a shop nearby or yours doesn't sell them, Amazon has some options
I really enjoy learning this skill from you. I have bought my tools and glass ready to go. Now I am at the intimidating stage of what do I make? Can you make a video on how you tackle finding or making patterns. I should probably start with something simple but I also want to get more complicated over time. The negative spaces are my biggest questions.
Just practice is all. I think because I went full time, working every.single.day for my first 3 years, I got alot of practice jam packed in quick. You'll get there before you know it too!!!
I did glass art when I was a teenager, our neighbour thought me how to...Glass is a so fascinating item. I am just starting fusing glass...love it. I would love to see how you do a mirror frame or how you would do jewerly. What do you use to hand grind the glass? Thank you for sharing. It is so entertaining watching you ad work. I love to see how things come together...
Lovely! You're so expert at this Makenzie. I think you're right to hold onto the book projects because you make such unique original art yourself for sale. I would always prefer to give away or keep items from someone else's designs too.
That is so cool! Thanks for the the inspiration for a beautiful new project! I'm just starting out in stained glass and looking for more creative projects to challenge myself. You have been an inspiration!
Love the back ground and this was a great video like always the step by step visual is awsom quick question where do you find the sanding stone having a hard time llocating one Please and Thank you
I really appreciate your rose pattern. It was one of my first attempts, returning to stained glass. This is a lovely piece. Your instruction style is awesome and your projects always entertaining with valuable lessons of technique and creativity. I'll think about a project I'd like to watch you complete, but for now, thanks for this one. The background, lighted stars were a bit blurry and was initially distracting but by the end, it was fine. Nice work.
Hi Mackenzie! I need a few more items, but am getting ready to try stained glass soon. My experience up to now has been with glass on glass mosaics. Which of these books would you recommend for a beginner? Thanks for making these videos. They are very helpful!
If this has been suggested already I apologize but I REALLY want to see a video of how to attach a rod to a suncatcher for placement in a plant pot. There are so many people who use brazing rods, knitting needles, or something like that and soldering it to the back of their suncatcher. I would love to see how it’s actually done because I rarely see the back of their finished piece. And/or attaching to a round floral ring. Anyway, love your videos and the step by step tutorials. Super helpful. (After all that sunshine I have to admit I’m not terribly fond of the background. Sorry. 😬)
Don't be sorry! I wanna hear everyone's opinions. And yes I can totally show how I would personally attach one, as I'm sure every artist does it a little differently and understandably wants to keep that private. I'll add it to my upcoming list!
I appreciate you being willing to show how it’s done because like you said in one of your videos, some folks who are new to stained glass don’t get a lot of detailed instruction by those who have been craftsmen for a while as if there isn’t enough room for everyone. It’s bs! I get that the ones who have been creating stained glass pieces for decades have been honing their craft and going through trial and error to get where they are but for f-sake, teachers are supposed to impart their knowledge to others. No one is going to “put them out of business”! I don’t get it. Ok. Rant over. Soapbox put away. Thanks again for showing newcomers how it’s done and breaking it down in bite sized pieces. I’m in a few stained glass groups on FB and Reddit and your videos have been mentioned over and over. You’re doing it right and it’s not a secret. Keep killing it!
😂😂🤣🤣 Totally. But we have to remember, that comes from only a place of insecurity, fear and wanting to protect there business. So they have some sort of trauma maybe or issues with confidence, so we have to just support eachother and build eachother up, even if we're dealing with someone not ready or willing to share anything at all. Like I always say, style cannot be copied. And that's that. We just can't expect all of our peers to feel the same. Like I'm not quite ready to let go of my tree topper secret yet. But I'm trying to work through why I'm attached to it so tightly. - ok My rant now over too. Lmfao. BUT- I've heard about some Facebook groups, not reddit yet tho!!!!! that's so cool! Such a strange feeling! I've never been on reddit, shocking I know, but now I'm REAL curious lol!! Thank you so much for your support and for watching!!!!!
Hi Makenzie! I bought this book because you recommended it and am glad I did. I have wanted to make this night light but I have no idea where to get the hardware (clip and light itself). Can you help? Thanks so much!!!!
Thanks so much for this! I think the stars look great but maybe a different color background would make them stand out better? What do you think about doing a video over a Christmas tree topper? 👏☕️🍩👊🎄
Glad you enjoyed it! I share alot of info, and have no issues with that at all. Love it. But sharing my unique tree toppers, such a huge part of my business at Christmas time, is just not something I'm comfortable sharing to the masses. Not as of yet anyway. Lol. I will definitely do Christmas stuff around Christmas though!! Thank you for watching! 🖤
With your foil caddy, is there a reason you don't run the foil through the cut-outs at the bottom of each bin? Do you change them often or just personal preference?
I wonder why you sometimes choose to use a hand grinder? I have never seen this done before. Is your hand grinder much like a ceramic knife sharpener/honer?
Hi Makenzie! I just received my Hakka solder iron in the mail and all the instructions are in CHINESE! What temp do I set the iron at? I order this from Amazon!!
Hello! Unfortunately it sounds like you got the Chinese cheaper version of the 601! I would return it and get the American. However directions won't tell you what to set your iron at, as it depends on what your working with. I have the U.S one linked right on my soldering school video, which also will teach you what to set your iron at and when! 🖤
I notice you have used the widest slot in the foil holder for foil.. You had thought it was too wide so had mentioned putting scissors there....the scalloped foil fits nicely. Second, and most important....what an ugly blue...I cannot believe you kept it blue, you promised that you would paint it black!!!! Enjoy your vids. keep it up. Just finished my first project, it is better because of you.. John
😂😂 I nooooo I nooo, when I thought about painting it, I thought about the paint constantly being in contact with the foil on the inside. So then what if I paint just the outside? I would hate it more. Black AND BLUE!!?? NO WAY. I'm afraid of chipping and a reaction with the foil!!!
@@MakenzieHallie The cost is unimportant, a coupla dollars. Once I designed it, it is just point and click. It took 16 hours for the printers to finish, but I was either at work or sleeping. The placemats someone else made for you took far more labor and love than what I did. If you would like to retire that ugly blue, I will be happy to send them to you. Actually, they are already packed in a box ready to send. I made one for me, and that will be the limit of my production run as this is not my design. John
Totally agree with the end of this specific production line, but I am ABSOLUTELY appreciative to be one of the lucky ones to get one beforehand 😂. Placemats still shock me today, I love them so much. She definitely worked hard on them. Responding to your emails now!
Yea I'm not happy with them. When I watched it back not on the tiny viewfinder but on a normal screen I didnt see snowflakes anymore, but I didn't like it. I'll try again! Maybe some shelving and mini neons.
Don't forget to let me know what you guys want to see next! Sorry for all the bird squaks in the background! I've been a bird psycho lately!! Lol!! I no, odd. 🦅🕊
Bird psycho 🤣. You crack me up
Idk what happened. Bought binoculars to watch them and everything lol 😂😂 so fun
I would love to see a planchet for a ouija board. ♡
Recently became a bird nerd as well!
Really enjoying your channel.. thank you for sharing your knowledge! Question..why does my black patina not look very black?
You are a good instructor!
Nothing better than sitting in the yard listening to the birds, and watching you.
Listening to the birds, enjoying the yard and youtube are top of the list for me too! Thank you for watching!!!
If you haven't done one I would love to see a stained glass jewelery box.
We can definitely do that
One day I hope to cut as skillfully as you do. I'm in complete awe every time.
🖤🖤🖤 just practice and you'll be there!! Thank you...🙏
Gotta love birds! Keep me amused for hours! Thanks again Mackenzie! Ann in England,
Me too!! Lol! Just got a really nice upgrade of binoculars for my birthday! So fun.

You should make your own stained glass for beginner's book! I would sooo buy that!
That would be so awesome! I would absolutely do it, fingers crossed for someday!!
I like the star lights!!
Enjoyed. Will be cutting out my nite lite tomorrow. Thanks.

Hi there! Ive been looking for some kind of book or directions to make those light up stained glass houses with no luck. (houses, churches, lighthouses.. some kind of building) Can you help?
Love everything you do! The stars are a nice idea, the small ones are so bright they blur. I think you’re on the right path thought.
Totally agreed. Thank you for your input!!
Thanks for all you do! You’re a great inspiration!
Appreciate that so much! 🙏🖤

Where do you dispose of the water that you use for the first wash after grinding?
For the center of the rose did you just foil over your design?
Hi there. I'm not sure if this has been asked before or not. I didn't find where you got the rose pattern for the night light ??
How did you wrap the top of the flower. It went to fast for me to watch. I didn't see you cut the petals out to wrap.
what is the black mat you work on when soldering that has the little cubbies at the top? I assume its some sort of heat resistant material?
Love it!
Thanks!!
Awsome

You have to buy the kit, from a stained glass supplier made for this purpose, or buy the individual pieces from a craft store, Amazon etc! 🖤
