Could you give more info on this? I don't think it's right to just be spreading claims like "The game doesn't exist" like that. If I had to make a guess, what you're referring to might involve the engine restart from a few years ago, something the devs likely did to *speed up* development, at the cost of being significantly set back. It's actually the biggest reason there aren't dozens of "Oddities" out there. We can't just say "Ah, Mother 4 is real because it has updates! Oddity doesn't get updates but there are occasional rumblings that it's still being worked on. Whether that'll ever amount to anything is hard to say, but we should be more encouraging to fangame developers- we shouldn't be deciding whether or not they deserve our support based on how much instant gratification they give us for doing so, specifically with updates. I wish both devs the best of luck and look forward to whatever either party makes, *if* either of them finish it. I know people want more of this series, and I haven't played Mother 3, but I heard it was pretty damn good and it really seems like a random fan game wouldn't even come close to it. As a Nintendo fan, I do not know why people want to make a shitty knock off fanfiction of Nintendo properties instead of just making your own game with clear influences. I don't see fan created projects in the same way I see official games and even if your game is hot stuff, I STILL won't look at it in the same light as an official product. To me, even a perfect fan game is still "just a fan game" and will never be seen as more. Now, something like Pizza Tower I can have much more respect for because it is a REAL game with clear influence from Wario Land. If you're going to make a fan game, do not put the same level of effort you would put into a real game. Don't market it until after you can actually release it. I have no sympathy for games like Pokemon Uranium that went and announced it way before it was ready, and then acted all surprised when it was taken down by Nintendo. It's fine to have fun and make a fan project, but at a certain point, it becomes time to actually be creative and make something wholly your own. I mean, it's like those youtube videos titled "the history of ( ) i guess" where they aren't creative enough to come up with their own style so they just steal that one guy's and continue being mediocre.
*_To me, even a perfect fan game is still "just a fan game" and will never be seen as more_* That's a shame. There are a few gems like AM2R which is viewed by many as being better than the official M2 remake cause it's simply THAT good. It also didn't cut content from the original game.
The thing is that Nintendo doesn’t care about the Mother series. Nintendo fully owns Pokémon and will take down fan games instantly. Nintendo only owns half of the Earthbound/Mother rights. So to take down a fan game they would have to ask Itoi/Hobonichi, Itoi loves fan games and hasn’t had any games taken down. I like that the fans are taking over the series it’s what Itoi wants.

I’m making a simple (and honestly pretty limited) Mother battle framework in Godot 4.3.
IDK I just thought I’d mention it.
@@buzzbuzz20xx Cool! Can I try it when it’s done?
*_To me, even a perfect fan game is still "just a fan game" and will never be seen as more_*
That's a shame.
I like that the fans are taking over the series it’s what Itoi wants.
hey i was watchinmg this video and i got my high score in tetris up to 700,000 thanks man i've been wanting to do that for a while haha also cool video
technaclliy speaking, its been in development for 16 years, but tomato tomato
I'm starting to lose hope
Oddity/Mother4 regrettably has been in development a LOT longer than 10 years... 10 years ago was only when it was supposed to... release :(
I think it's been in development since like 2009-ish?, but I know I've personally followed it for at least 12 years
We’re aiming for June!

Taking bets that silksong comes out before this game.. any takers?
0:13 song name?
The OneUps - Super Mario Kart - Koopa Beach :)
Sometimes i feel like taking 6 months of my life, make a game similar to Mother (have made that before) and call it mother 4, just to troll these projects with full teams, that take years and never release anything.
I hate both of them because they made me feel excited for a fan game and they will never be released, thats saddening.
Pretty sure it released in 2015
hey wait M4 hasn’t posted on their twitter in a year
I will do it myself
I ate it
