I discovered KISS at around 9 or 10 years old. I grew up in the 70s and loved soft rock on the radio, then I heard KISS. I joined the KISS Army and bought all their albums on vinyl with my allowance. Fast forward to 1979/80 and I was onto something else KISS will always have a place in my heart though.
I love these suck vs suck.
I just listened to X. Wow!! So bad but I still can't be angry at them - first three and a half albums are just fantastic.
My biggest hot in the shade memory is my friend got this when it came out. He was the biggest KISS super fan I ever met. So, he brought it over and we all sat around listening to it. You know, when an album would come out and it was like an event and all your friends would come over and listen to it. And then, we were disappointed track after track. And never brought it up again.

Hot in the Shade is a solid rock album. The mistake Kiss made during the 80's was one of identity. Copying other bands. But I still like all these albums. Kiss simply makes good old rock and roll.

Nothing beats the first three DL albums. The only 9 arm Def Leppard album I like is Adrenalize. To me it’s like Hysteria but done right and I don’t like Hysteria. But everything else is garbage but I’m still gonna check out their new album coming soon because at least I liked the 2nd single.

It was horrifying and I'm not that big of an early Def Leppard fan. Hot in the Shade should have been shot in the shade and buried in the sand before they ever released it. Bought it and listened to it once or twice and that was one album I'm glad I lost when I got divorced.

I listened to Hot In The Shade on a long car trip, on a Sony Discman in 1989. Great songs if you're sleeping but I wil take Crazy Nights any day! I had that on vinyl and it suc...I mean it was great! =)

I'm a huge fan of Leppard but x was the only time I thought about trying to return the album but there was a few good ones like scar and 4 letter word
I thought “4 letter word” was unforgivably cheesy, but at least “You’re So Beautiful” was a quality poppier rehash of “Animal”.
I am a early Kiss guy. I quit after Love Gun.
And that is perfectly fine. To each its own. Believe it or not, Lick It Up has lately become my top-favorite Kiss studio effort release [partly because it contains my favorite lesser-known track from the group's catalog (And On The 8th Day)].

I'm a super fan of that album. Own it on cassette, vinyl, and cd and I still have my original concert shirt from the show March 14th 1988 at Portland Coliseum. Anthrax opened. It was amazing and that time of my life was the best.

IMO, Hot In The Shade Sucks MORE then X. The song writing off that album is SOOO Goofy & Stupid 😂Probably THE WORST KISS album IMO. Very close with Crazy Nights tho. X Is also terrible.... Nothing will beat 10 Armed Def Leppard! Keep Up The Great Work Ralph! You Rule Bro! Bang Bang Pizza Skulls!
