About The Game: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii and GameCube home video game consoles. It is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. Originally planned for release on the GameCube in November 2005, Twilight Princess was delayed by Nintendo to allow its developers to refine the game, add more content, and port it to the Wii. The Wii version was released alongside the console in North America in November 2006, and in Japan, Europe, and Australia the following month. The GameCube version was also released worldwide in December 2006, and was the final first-party game released for the console.

Fun Fact: Ooccoo's name is an Easter egg.
The 8-bit hexadecimal color code for the green in Link's first tunic in Zelda 1 on the NES is #00CC00. (zero red, 13/16th saturation level green and zero blue)!

Watching this in 2020 and hearing Breath of the Wild called “Zelda U” is freaking me out
TatsuotheGreat :P agreed 😂
Agreed
haha yup
Nintendo nx, project Scorpio and whatever the ps pro one was.
True
My favorite thing introduced in Twilight Princess was Midna. Best side character/companion/helper in any Zelda game, hands down. Plus she's adorable.
Connor Tyler Finally someone who likes Midna.
@@SpeedDemonPowerage98 I thought everyone liked Midna?
@@Sundel_Marlutte its midna, tetra, or the king of red lions

Connor Tyler and she’s super hot in her true form
Soo...
In the final scene, at least my language, Midna says: "Don't worry, we'll see each other again thanks to the Twilight Mirror". She then breaks it.
New level of friendzone?
You never got an answer but yes. This is basically a new level of friend zone.
Deepest level
They'll see each other in death is what I think she meant, and I don't think Link expected anything more from her in terms of a relationship (at least in this game)
My favorite zelda game ever. And Midna's Lament is one of the more simple yet emotional pieces of music I've ever heard.
Agreed. This game took my breath away from start to finish.
+jammintoast it's an incredible game
+jammintoast it's an incredible game
Same here
midnas lament still makes me tear up
The darkest part of twilight princess was finding out there were more than one of Ooccoo
It gives me goosebumps
Ooccoo is actually one of my favorite characters. I was so excited when I found out she was actually part of the main story.
It was also the brightest.
Seriously. I am convinced that the people who wrote the air-themed temple in the back half of the game hadn't seen pictures of Ooccoo before then. If they had, they definitely would have axed that part.
That boy ain't right
"He signed my 3DS! Sorry."
I nearly spit out out my food haha.
Lol

Story-wise it's definitely my favourite Zelda. The atmosphere, Midna, greatness. I love the darkness. ...and Midna is just so cool.

Breath of the Wild and Twilight Princess are my two favourite Zelda games. TP give me my fix on rewarding story progression, character development and a more "traditional" experience, while BotW gives me that unhinged adventure and compelling urge to just do as much as I can for fun!

You probably like the GameCube a lot lol. Mine is probably Ocarina (ik very cliche I just like how simple it is) and Minish Cap (I liked it a lot for some reason) but I still need to play MM, wind waker, and etc
+DrCrashBandicoot Gaming I just prefer 3D Zelda games in general. I love all of them but those just stand out. Then again Ihaven't played Twilight Princess since it came out and I'm replaying it now, so I'll see if I remember correctly. Skyward Sword is also greatly under appreciated.
Catching the Hylian Loach and completing every level of Roal Goal with motion controls back in the day was one of the most arduous, yet satisfying things I have ever done as a gamer. It wasn't until I played Dark Souls many years later that I experienced a similar catharsis.
That Spirit Tracks joke literally made my day.

not even 2 minutes into the video yet but i want to point out that Twilight Princess is my favourite Zelda and probably one of my favourite games ever, period. The way the characters connect, how the game plays and how dark it becomes is so impressive and submerges you into the game. - The ending made me cry, ill say this too haha.
the way its so slow and boring is top notch game design!!!
The only part where it is slow is at the start and it picks up and goes uphill right after that
I agree. It is my favorite Zelda game and one of my favorite games ever.

I've mostly seen love for TP. Many people like it.
+AlphaKnight708 Twilight Princess does zelda really well but it doesnt stand out like a lot of the other games do. Wind Waker and Skyward Sword have the distinctive art styles and OoT is the famous one so TP gets overshadowed.
You're not alone. TP lovers exist!
+AlphaKnight708 The big turnoff is the beginning of the game. Too slow man.
At last, a popular voice who doesn't bash Twilight Princess relentlessly.

@@linkheroofspiritsakatrains4812 yes, the game that depicts murder, child abduction, and suicide bombers is the darker game. TP is only darker in the sense of color choice.
Both are rather dark, but, twilight princess is primarily about an entire race that got put into a an Australian area and they routinely send criminals there. It's REALLY fucked up.
@@thunderflare59 Ok PBG
Link Hero of Spirits ok and?
Twilight Princess is my favourite game of all time!
Finally, someone gives Twilight Princess the love it deserves.
I actually enjoy that Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were more story driven. Not to say there was no story in Ocarina or Majora's, but it felt like more then just you're a hero in these games. Don't get me wrong I am huge fan of both Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but I just felt more of an emotional connection to TP and SS. That is just my opinion though.
+SilverLightGamingHD I'm totally with you ^^
Ss zelda is the only zelda I actually cared about
RedgraveKennedy Then you have missed some masterpieces :/
Marioshine not really, I've played the majority of Zelda games but AS A CHARACTER I only cared about the ss version of Zelda specifically
RedgraveKennedy Ok, i see what you mean
I feel like the best way to make a game dark is too make it feel like no matter how much good you do its overshadowed by evil.
+TheGeremy12 Like Majora's Mask.
Exactly
So MMO's are the darkest games ever then? You can clearly see every action you take impacts nothing, every quest you do makes no change and can be done by others as nothing changes. You are capable of nothing.
+TheGeremy12 Like FF7, u never get ahead ever.
+Dawson Gates And the future refused to change...

Zelda is very close to me. The first game I ever played was Ocerina of time. If you're interested I have a let's play with me and my friend Junior. We post once a week. We are playing the gamecube version.
Finally I’ve found someone who’s loves twilight princess as much as me !!!!
I know it's an unpopular opinion among the Zelda community, but this is honestly my favorite Legend of Zelda game. I have played through Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda, A Link Between Worlds, A Link to the Past, Spirit Tracks, and Phantom Hourglass and I can say that Twilight Princess is still my favorite Zelda game. Maybe its the nostalgia factor or maybe I just really like the elements that the game has that others lacked. Either way, this game will always be a classic for me and I was ecstatic finding out that Nintendo was making an HD remake.
Probably best 3d zelda game next to wind waker and breath of the wild, but I still think a link to the past is the best 2d zelda game.
GalacticAlpaca I've never played a game quite like Twilight Princess. Sure, it may seem similar on the surface, but this game is so unique.
GalacticAlpaca still waiting for the others to be remastered
Little sidenote: Ganon has ADD and can't ignore the fishing rod. It's a very unhealthy habit for him.
PhrozenFox That's how I beated him, my wii u lagged from fps drop so hard I couldn't even combat him. I was like fuck this shit after getting knocked around nonstop into the damn wall, I'll just fishing rod him to death.

I think that too little emphasis was made on Midna, who is easily the best sidekick Link ever had, in terms of personality, character development, story integration, gameplay utility, and powerset/strength.
When you consider the other sidekicks Link has been plagued with in the other game, that's not a big achievement, though. ;-)
My first and favorite zelda game ever. The mood of the game, the dungeons, even the text scrolling music are amazing.
13:49 Merry Christmas from the Oocoo and Oocoo Jr.,
Oocoo Jr. only has a head and no body this year, but soon he's looking to have a torso!
I laughed like crazy.
The way he said Ooccoo alone made me laugh. I died.
Twilight Princess is my favourite. It's so dark and gritty. It makes for a great Zelda game.
ApocalypticDayz the dark and gritty part is the exact reason that I don't like it as much as the others. it just feels edgy.
It may feel edgy BUT personally I find it a lot more appealing than the cartoonish style of the newer games. It makes and feels for a better more intense game.
ApocalypticDayz once again I disagree. I think breath of the wild combined the Twilight Princess and Wind Walker graphics perfectly.
I don't think it will. It's trying to take the best of both worlds and mesh them together. But the thing is there is a reason why they should remain two separate worlds. I personally feel that they're going to conflict more than some other people think. Just because it looks good in a trailer doesn't mean it looks good in game. Need I remind people of the HUGE failures we've seen from game companies in 2016? There were a lot. Why can't Nintendo take a swing and miss, they haven't missed in a while. Personally I think this will be a miss. If not, I'll eat my words.
ApocalypticDayz You think breath of the wild will be a miss? The game is getting universal praise at the moment from all the demonstrations around the country. the game looks beautiful in game even on the switch tablet. There's even a lot of websites thinking that it will be game of the year. Just because a game doesn't look realistic doesn't mean it's going to fail. actually games that try to look to realistic look terrible years down the line. games with different art styles age much better because there's nothing to compare to them because they are unique.
Way to make a Twilight Princess review without nitpicking and hating on every little thing. I had started to believe that it couldn't be done. That, by some virtuous quirk of it's radiant glory, the best game ever made couldn't be appreciated by mortal means
That howl at the beginning brought back 7 years of childhood memories.
Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game of all time. BOtW is number 3 on my list, but I love Twilight Princess the most.
What is number 2?
Ok is it just me or is the Howl of wolf link epic in every single way? I remember hearing it for the first time and I got chills.Such an amazing howl!
Twilight Princess is the only Zelda game I have ever played. It's a masterpiece. The music, the world, the adventure, the bond between Link and Midna are amazing. It's actually so good I felt like doing that Cave of Ordeals at the end.... all 50 levels, and actually grinded them out loving it all the while. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend it.
So you’re telling me you absolutely loved this game then thought “guess I’ll never play any of the other games in the series”. You should definitely try the others particularly ocarina of time and botw
one of the best zelda simply for the dungeons and midna.
Hate me, but TP is my favorite Zelda game of all time. And so far, nothing has changed that.
mine too
Loved this game. Probably my second favorite game on the Wii, behind Super Mario Galaxy. It's also my second favorite Zelda game, behind Ocarina of Time.
I feel that Majora's Mask is the Zelda game with the darkest themes, while Twilight Princess is the Zelda game with the darkest atmosphere. Anyone else here agree?
You are totally right!!!
Now, is it possible to make the ultimate dark Zelda game with both of these themes?
I can agree with that
"Zelda U and Zelda NX are hopefully coming out this year"
Oh poor Jirard

Twilight princess is the best and is so special because it’s one of the few Zelda games that has a darker story and isn’t cartoonish ❤️
Idk about anyone else but I always thought this game looked so satisfying with how long the master sword was and the Hylian shield just looks awesome
I don't care what anyone says, u think this was the best Zelda game I ever played

@@masonmurphy5402 You're entitled to your wrong opinion and I respect that.
@@masonmurphy5402 Wow, I triggered a nerve lol we're entitled to our own opinions and that's fine. I was just having some fun with you. And "revolutionary at the time" is certainly a valid argument. When a game's influence is still being directly felt in new games 20+ years later, that's a powerful argument. I'm just going to go out on a limb assume you're too young to truly appreciate what that means. You'll understand that argument better when you're older and looking back at the games you loved from your childhood.
Jason Shaneyfelt There are plenty of better zelda games than oot. For sure its a good zelda game and i like it but there are a handful of zelda gens that are better, more fun and engaging. And how she doesn't fear wolf Link and talks happily to him while literally any other in town will flee. Even the guards. (Okay, she thinks he's a dog, but she is damn cute.)
The "Oocoo" parts are funny af. 😂🤣
One interesting quirk I noticed in this game: while the Triforce is still a key plot element like in every Zelda game, the actual word "Triforce" is never once uttered. Everybody just refers to it as "the power of the gods".
When i beat this game for the first time and i very worried about Midna. I was relived to find out that she was alive and in her true form. I was pumped. I was very excited to see both worlds, with the help of both princesses, work together and forge peace. When Midna shatter the mirror, i was devastated. I cried. I was very upset. Link worked very hard alongside Midna. He helped her see the good in people and got her to care for more than herself. They grew close as the game progressed. I took for granted that Link in Midna were together for most of the game. With the mirror gone... that was it. They wont see each other again. Link has his friends and family sure. But what about Midna? It felt like Link was her only friend. If that's true, then that means she is alone. The end of this game made me grieve for the friendship that came to an end.
i was too busy crying from nostalgia throughout the whole video to even hear what you were saying
4 years ago: "Ganondorf is not coming back"

Twilight Princess is still one of my favorite Zelda games. Sure, Breath of the Wild is my favorite Zelda game, but Twilight Princess is still pretty special to me.
By the time the HD remaster came out, I hadn't played through Twilight Princess from beginning to end since it originally came out. When I finally got my copy in the mail, I tore the game to shreds. Within a quick 23 hours, I already had 100% completion on my file without looking for a single guide. Even ten years later, I still remembered every little nook and cranny. There were a few times where I actually forgot to pick up the compass in a few dungeons by the time I reached the boss, so I had to run back and pick it up (only to realize that I ended up finding and opening every chest without it, oops lol).
It's still as great as I remembered. The jousting sections were still great and the escort mission was still hilariously easy.
Gerard did they fix the annoying part of reminding you about EVERY SINGLE THING YOU PICK UP?!?
Ye.
Ye?
+Stanger_in_the_Alps It means yes.
Do u mean the incredibly short reminder that you can skip really quickly if u pick up a 5 or 10 rupee? Yeah, but it wasn't a major problem in the first place, but a nice fix all the whild
+MiddiTwili Unnecessary textbox....
To this day, this still my favorite Zelda game. It has its faults but as Jerard said it's the way you get to know everyone and see their growth alongside your own as you gradually change from a ranch hand to the Hero of the Twilight.
Fun fact you can mess with Ganon by using your fishing rod for some reason he starts watching it and you can get some attacks in
+Jacob Arthur John Gallant To make Zelda laugh of course! She's just watching by the sidelines twiddling her thumbs while Link and Ganon fight to the death, she needs some comdey relief.

"Stopped in his spirit tracks" Jirard, you savage...
FINALLY! Someone who agrees with me that Twilight Princess is better than Ocarina of Time! You have my respect sir!
When I first played Twilight Princess on the Wii, I hated Midna. SO. MUCH. Always with the nagging, the taunting, the trying to make you feel dumb. I just wanted her to go away and leave me the hell alone, maybe even get killed off.
Then she got hurt, and I felt horrible for wishing she would. I fought back tears as I ran as fast as I could to the castle and kept telling her to hang in there, it's just a little longer, you can make it, stay strong...
That right there is enough to make me think of this game as my favorite in the series. Got me right in the feels, yo.
22:35
"For real, he's not coming back, I promise."
*BOTW 2 has entered the chat*
Honestly my main problem with most Zelda games has been the combat. Like in Twilight for example they give you lots of options on how to defeat an enemy but you almost never really have to use them, you can get by with just your regular sword swings and dodging/blocking attacks. Haven't had the chance of playing Breath of the Wild yet so maybe it's more interesting there, even if from what I hear your weapons break every 10 seconds.
Gotta admit, this is the best Zelda boss battle. You fight Zelda, than Ganon, than Ganondorf on horseback, then Ganondorf sword fight. That’s some pretty epic and varied boss battle forms.
Oh crap, I had no idea you could shoot Malo in the face. I was laughing like a damn Hyena when I saw that!!!

Majoras mask to me is probably the darkest.. Twilight princess tries really hard to be, but didnt do as well as majoras mask.
Agreed
+Nezuk0 Twilight isn't even remotely close to how fuckin dark MM is. That shit was terrifying for me at seven
+Nezuk0 Everyone says it's trying to be "OOT2" or "MM2". If you just take it as it's own thing it's one of the best Zeldas ever made.
agree
+Nezuk0 i like the fact that majoras mask is dark under a light and happy world but on the last day you see just how dark it can get and how terrified everyone is.
This was the first Completionist episode I ever watched and it’s still one of my all time favourites
The Darkest Zelda is Majora's mask, but I still really love TP
Drake Winters - Majora is definitely a lot psychologically darker, which I loved.
Well if we're talking about lighting, Twilight Princess is definitely the darkest :P
Jirad is ambidextrous?! That explains alot.

Twilight Princess is the only Legend of Zelda game I wish I played
I completely love Twilight Princess. Favorite Zelda game! I thoroughly enjoy all of this game.
I really dig the new stat card that you put up at the end of each episode showing how much you did in each game. But if I can offer one piece of advice, the pictures are pretty small, which I understand because you have a lot to fit on the screen, but maybe instead of putting it all up there at once, how about just making the board scrolling from bottom to top as you talk about it, that way you could let each stat be larger. Just a suggestion.

Twilight princess is my favourite LoZ game!
mine is botw
To me, this game was amazing, creepy, intense, and story driven, it was my first Wii game and my second Zelda game, and a great play, and a nostalgia bomb I'd replay any time.
It's really not any darker than OoT was. Majora's Mask had a much more subtle and foreboding darkness to it. A lot of Termina's residents were dealing with some pretty heavy shit, made all the more depressing by the fact they're reliving their struggles over and over without their knowledge. And even if Link ends up helping them by the end of the three days it always resets. And more than likely once beating the game, the friends Link made won't remember him because they never met him to begin with. That's gotta fuck someone up emotionally.
Wait? 30 years of Zelda, 25 years of Sonic, 20 years of Pokemon? Great year of anniversaries.
Metroid turns 30 this year too
+Trey Mancil 3 for one year deal.
Man, you have the best intro on youtube, period

I suppose the biggest criticism of _Twilight Princess_ is that it didn’t push the gameplay forward in any particularly novel way, but it really was the culmination of the kind of _Zelda_ that started with _Ocarina of Time..._ I think it has the best story, atmosphere, and general epic-ness of all the _Zelda_ games.
