Love this style of video from you. The little editing gags were a nice touch and made me laugh a good few times. Thank you for letting me know that the wall was not a stalactite.
This kind of technical breakdown and comparison is really interesting and fun to watch. Has to be a lot of editing work though. Thank you for making these. Twilight Princess holds a special place for me and your Speedrun content has been a great way to relive it.
21:40 I'm definitely looking forward to commentated videos! You've quickly become one of my favorite creators, your explanations are always clear and the editing+little things you add to the script make these videos an absolute joy to watch.
The mad ladd did it!! I remember in one of your runs you siad you might not fully explain the differences because it was long and im glad you decided to do it!
I don't know much about the other versions of TP and I am glad you made this video to show how broken the other versions also are with their game exclusive glitches used in Hundo. Also wtf was that sick flip at 50:50? I have never seen a backflip go forward
@@bewildebeest The man himself! Random question unrelated to my original comment: does it mess you up to go from Wii to GC with the game flip or was it just confusing when you started and now it doesn’t matter?
@@pistonfists I spent so much time looking at the Wii areas while making the glitchless TAS that even though I obviously know that they're the GC areas mirrored, I'm able to think of many of them as their own independent areas and get less confused. I do sometimes go the wrong direction though.
@@bewildebeest That makes sense. I played the Wii version only as a child many times and memorized the game so when HD came out and I played it casually I felt super confused. It makes sense to just think of the areas as distinct from each other for sure. Thanks for the reply, love your content as always!
33:06, so just from a aspiring game dev perspective, there's really only two likely scenarios that I see #1 the different tunics, including wolf link are different level objects, and those level objects are likely stored either to the player, player camera, or the map origin. possibly with an offset. whereever in the level these objects are stored, wolf link's objects and the tunics probobly have a different offset than the tunics just for organization purposes in the debugging process. how it would normally work is that when you're swapping out different characters, the hero's tunic teleported in place of the zora tunic, and that's all well and good. but by crossing paths, the wolf pseudo-tunic would get displaced because there's not proper graphics, or coordinates for it. #2 it could be a problem with raw logic. let's say all the character states are stored values, and there obviously wouldn't be one for zora + wolf, and you can't have two values occupy the same slot, so they constantly override eachother. this i feel is less likely, because it would be easy to make a failsafe or even just a priority system. but this could also be the case if, instead of setting values, the game checks and applies math in order to get those values. so you set it to an invalid value, zora (5) + wolf (10) = tunic 15, and there is no tunic 15, but this is what the game assumes is true from the math.
48:52 "but for some reason, the fans rotate more slowly on HD, making it easier to reach the top without missing the cycle." what do you mean, for some reason? isn't that the reason? I mean, the 3D and HD remasters are an oppertunity for Aonuma to go back and fix many of the little problems with the original games, and revise his work, and this is one of the things that he noticed apparently. simple.
I find the differences between game releases very interesting, almost as much as the way small changes to a ruleset or options in a speedrun can have unexpected consequences. So this was a great way to spend an hour, even though I've never played Twilight Princess on any version!
I really love how many times that one part of Lakebed Temple showed up, and every time it had a different, funny caption. Well done! Now clearly this means you'll make a similar video for 100%+, yeah?
As I’m listening, I wonder what seeing a side-by-side of all 3 Hundos in one video would look like to see the route changes between versions all at once
@@bewildebeesttrue, but I think your viewerbase is probably the perfect target demo for such content. Although a commentary video would be exceptionally hard to produce I imagine, I wouldn't hate seeing a simpler version with just your irl chat interaction and whatever from one of the two runs. Probably wouldn't be the hardest thing to edit
34:16 Oh, by “everywhere at once” you mean NaN, huh, it is pretty weird that all NaN coordinates causes you to activate any load zone, rather than not hitting any as Id expect.
Great video thanks beest! I have a question, do you not get bored running the same game despite the version differences? Or does the chase to shave some time off your runs compel you?
I run other categories and games when I don't feel like running TP 100%, but no, running the different versions (at least as a beginner to them) was an interesting experience and was not boring
New Beest video? And it's an HOUR? Oh we're COOKING today.
I love that TP speed-running is still a very active and passionate community
Just finished my 4th watch, gotta be the best video you've ever made
Congratulations on your new job at the Rolex factory

Thank you for making yet another niche, but very fun video. Your passion for your hobby is admirable
amazing video, always loved watching TP runs and been wanting to get into them myself. super cool to see how the 3 versions differ. great info, beest

Have you really never seen that before? Not sure why, but a backflip on that particular 1-framer goes forward on all versions
This was an awesome video, thanks for making it! I grew up with tthe Wii version so it's super interesting to get a breakdown of the differences.
My, my, a special treat, just for us? *Delectable.*
I love your funny little text pop-ups
This video is exactly what I needed. Beest you are a legend ❤
Well structured vid ❤
Been very excited to see this since you started talking about it on stream, glad you ended up keeping the video long!
Ahhhh what an awesome video, this makes me really interested in getting into HD
Nice! It's a fun game to speedrun

Thanks
You gotta take the 300% world record and do all three versions sequentially after that intro subtitle.

now make a video about the any% differences
Why are there so many dislikes? There is no reason for them
what about the twilight princess 100% run for the cd-i?
