I (new to the Fallout franchise) watched it first on my own, loved it, and now I'm watching it with my partner (who's very familiar with the franchise) after telling him how good it is. He commented "Hah her first gun is a starter-pistol!" and is pointing out more references
I watched fallout 4 played on UA-cam when I was little and have always wanted to get into the series but after watching the show I know I’m buying fallout 4 soon to finally play it
The only links that the show has between the games are from Fallout 2, NV and 4. Fallout 2 because the show is in California, SS and Boneyard (There are actually more places in California like Hub/Junktown/Necropolis but don't know if they die out). Fallout NV because House and the Strip. (Can't wait for Season 2 for NV canon ending) Fallout 4 because of the Prydwen. (Only two possible canon ending from 4 just because of the ship) All of them happened before the TV show.
Necropolis definitely died out. In February 2162, the vault dweller visits necropolis in search of a water chip. Ian the companion is killed by a super mutant during that visit in cannon lore. A month later in March 2162, more super mutants attack necropolis after learning what the vault dweller had done, wiping out almost all the inhabitants. Survivors fled and founded places like gecko, dayglow, and broken hills.
I know fallout is brutal but it felt too much in a short amount of time for poor Lucy. Maiming, torture, I was looking at the screen thinking “give the girl a break 😂”

Fortunately there are mods. In my guide on how to improve vanilla weapons part 2 I included a few mods about the AR

That’s awesome! If you need some inspiration for modding you’ll find plenty of different guides on my channel.
