UA-cam compression sucks, And thank yall for the kind words ill try my best to upload regularly if school doesn't get in the way to much :) Update: Working on another video 50% done!
UA-cam compression or not😂, your editing quality of this video is top teir, I'm now subscribed, I cannot wait for your future content. I'm sure others will appreciate your content.
@@infinitsai uh well. Not in simulation games. Obviously both are important, in sims you tend to want realism over other aspects, even immersion. Also I'm not sure they exclude one another. Having both is possible
STALKER2 is not realistic in general. The UE5 shadow problem totally ruins the general gameplay, you can check my video for reference. Also in STALKER2 the damage, loot drops, wearing, weight and endurance and many other aspects are totally mess. Nothing realistic there unless you use bunch of mods to tweak the gameplay. The realistic problem in many modern games are: they lack basic inner logic of realism.
Well the point that i was trying to send was how stalker although set in a realistic world/similar to ours manages to portray the reaction of the people and the world realistically if it was faced with some goofy sci fi thingamajigs, but yeah i guess i wasnt clear enough on how i said it, thanks for the feedback though! i might make a video about stalker 2 if i even manage to run the game while recording it XD
@@vantsshenanigans I agree with you in many ways. I think the major realism problems with modern games come from the engine technology. For example in Ready or Not, when you watch your teammates move their bodies, it's like last century Rainbow Six level "realism".
dude i literally tought this video would have like 100k views or smth before i checked the views its illegal for this video to have so little views i hope you get noticed quickly
My biggest isue is that even with realistic graphics they cannot depicts nor make the atmosphere of battlefields, operations etc., they are forgetting that graphics does not give the themes and atmosphere of the game, it allows you to put details, and if you dont that feauture, if you leave details of the game empty then graphics serves for nothing, lets say, with high end graphics the game allows you to see, toture marks of the victims, you see a highly stressed hostage when you look at him you can make his toes eaten with graphics to tell this person is in distress, his facial impressions, mimics, the sweat coming from his face and shirt, but nah just put high end graphics looks nice at steam page, I freaking wish they could suceed at that but no, games like hell let lose, Arma (new one ) is just a optimisation mess due to not knowing how to optimise a game, and high end graphics making things worst, especially Unreal Engine 5 games, yet again we dont need graphics if we are not going to see detail put use for immersion and storytelling, we need proper art style, atmosphere, world building
I usually find channels mid career, but I’m glad I found and subscribe to this channel from the beginning, can’t wait for your next video!! Also, I like that you keep the videos simple and get straight to the point, I know some other channels tend to repeat themselves or drag the videos longer than they should be, but personally I think you got the balancing well. Your video wasn’t too long and you seem to explain everything you need to within this video. Awesome work!
Gabe from valve once said something like "fun is NOT realism, but reinforcement." but if you're going for immersion, i do believe the best reinforcement would still be realism, because the rules are already set, you just have to try and incorporate or take inspiration from it, however if they take away from the experience so much, i think it contradicts its purpose as a reinforcement.
We have to fix the dialogue around games so that younger gamers no longer see realism as something to even pursue. It's a trend that promotes technology products (engines, plugins, gpus) and deprioritizes gameplay.
Versatile, smooth animation makes immersion and light/shadow work (especially on character models) brings photorealism (now easily achived by real path tracing). "Realistic" health/injury system is mostly joke. Only few games did it right (Shellshock 67, Far Cry 2, Close Combat:First to Fight and Six Days in Fallujah) and I mean it because of personal experience.
Arma 3 has a great health/injury system in my opinion considering the fact that you have to do cpr, add the right blood type for the soldier and well inyections. Fallujah, RoN, Far cry 2 have fairly simplistic models but they have more immersion than Arma 3 even though it's way more advanced. Though, arma 3 punishes u for walking with broken bones. Dayz also has good health system
@D1amond131 thats where Arma series flops: try to simulate as much as can (ballistics, blood types, vechicles) failing completly in fidelity of combat zone. Its all good on paper but overall picture lacks immersion.
@hubertmitura2587 unfortunately arma tries to cover everything whereas the competition doesn't cover that much. Mods do help a lot such as ACE and this is good IMO because it's a sandbox but arma portrays war fairly well. War is not like video games where they have ost or a voice. Ure the one who has the voice and arma has that feeling of being exposed to everything compared to any other game. Squad gets close to it but a bandage is not good enough for an advanced health system. For me, Arma portrays war because it is bland. It is quiet, unless ur in a city, not everyone is dumb, supposed ur doing pvp, getting shot is painful and disables u from jumping or aiming correctly. Fallujah on the other hand just gives immersiones. For me, realism > immersion when it comes to war games but I do enjoy more casual friendly games and well arma is good at everything but more especially open warfare and communication
@D1amond131 Arma character animations are too stiff, obstacles have to be exact height to conceal or cover character: look how naturalistic and immersive Call of Juarez 2 BiB devs did this and consider concealment and cover are cruical in firefights. Then any game without morale system to A.I. is not realistic at all. PvP is not realistic either since players do risky things for fun, because if killed, they just start over again.
Liked and subbed! Bro this was a great analysis and I couldn't agree more with a lot of what you said. Never heard of Beautiful Light before so you lowkey just put me on to a new game too 👌
Great video, I don't think you have a serious lack of quality. I like the fact that it wasn't super long either. Another video you can make is exploring how color affects games. Why so many shooters was just grey and brown but how color now makes more a return in the videogames.
Ready or Not is not even realistic. 1 swat members don't move at a snails pace. 2 no human can track through walls, have reaction times that are faster than even the fasted recorded times. 3 apparently being a low grade criminal watching your friends head get blow off increases morale.
Listen. I would much rather have “realistic” over the crap we have today!! Everywhere I turn there some bs 2004 cartoon loony toon graphic bullshit. I’m so sick of it. It’s 2025 we have the strongest gaming consoles we’ve ever had GIVE US REAL FUCKING GAMES
Realistic games is just another name called “being lazy”. Don’t get me wrong though some realistic games are made with effort at least to actually provide a good experience instead of just turning off every single ui possible and give an unrealistically high recoil for guns etc.

great video and editing ceep it up
Immersive is always better than realistic in games
Exactly
Always

what i hate most is when a tactical FPS renders the whole optic when aiming when you don't see the housing when you have both eyes open
indeed that is a blind spot (pun intended) in those games.
I can't remember for sure but I think MW2019 did this pretty well, but I can't really think of any games that do it well
I want the thrill of realistic consequences without the annoyances of it.

its impossible to make realistic game
Amen to that brother, stalker 2 is a piss poor experience in general and its "realism" is bullsht

You asked a great question in the beginning, so I am here, watching the whole video. Great job!

@D1amond131 and Starfield optional advanced health system seems better than Arma to me.
