I think this show’s tone will definitely be consistent. Seeing how methodical they were in the cinematography and the choice of lighting…everything just seems way more intentional than other projects. And the projects that put that much attention to detail never disappoint! And yes! We are with you on that one, keep bringing this mature tone to the mcu! The DOP was using visual patterns to communicate the idea that there's a pattern to all of this, further heightening the paranoia. It was very well calculated.

Olivia Coleman; favorite so far. Brilliant. I can't see how whoever is running the show that gave us something as good as this episode would flounder the rest of the series.
We agree! This episode was everything we were expecting from the tone and more. Some of our favorite Marvel films are films with this tone and storytelling. When we heard they were doing Secret Invasion we were over the moon! Glad to see episode 1 didn’t disappoint and now we’re waiting at the edge of our seats for ep 2! Honestly didn’t know it was used as a slur. Is it just an American thing? Cuz I’ve only ever heard “spook” refer to either spies (great tv show here called spooks about Mi5) or scaring someone.
They must be another series of this because the russian market was filmed in the piece hall Halifax u k. And the have been in talks about shooting more
So, there has to be a part of the show that is set in the past, right? Why else would it be: "Moscow, Present Day"? So, Maria can return in those parts, or since the Multiverse is in play some other variant of her can show up, or Marvel can pull another Agents of Shield thing to bring her back to life like they did with Coulson. Aside from Maria's death, and the AI generated intro there isn't much complaint for this episode. Some are saying that it's too slow and boring, but I feel like those are just trolls, having a problem with both loud, comedic MCU and the slow one too. Hopefully the show can maintain the level of stress or take it up a notch. Re: Fury, He's not limping throughout the episode, so I believe that he was just adjusting to Earth's gravity after being in space for so long. And playing it up for anyone that noticed a UFO coming to Earth. He's definitely been affected by the Snap, because his Idea (Avengers) failed. "Crisis of Faith" as he calls it. Here's an interesting question though, Could Talos be the leader of Skrulls and Gravik just the face of his rebellion?

And also Talos being the true leader is a possibility but seeing how close he is to Fury and how involved Fury is with S.A.B.E.R. there would have to be a very good reason as to why Talos wouldn't just talk to Fury and figure out a solution. Whatever the outcome ends up being this was a great way to start the show. No complaint on the pacing from me!
It really was! From the start they managed to give this sense of danger and paranoia that we really appreciated. Can't wait for Loki season 2 that is probably our most anticipated Disney+ show right next to DD Born Again. Also hyped for Echo! I'm intrigued to see what they do with her and how'll she fit in in all of this.

But Maria dieing in the line of duty, doesn't necessarily motivate Fury any more or less, it just causes grief and an alteration in asset assignment. She's a trained operative, I'm suspecting it's a set up so she can go off radar

We just heard that the longer a Skrull stays in his/her shell the harder it becomes for other Skrulls and humans to tell them from actual humans. The last time we saw the real Maria Hill was in 2023 during Tony's funeral, and we know that Soren has been playing the part of Maria Hill since at least Far From Home--the MCU is in the year 2026 right now. If Soren is Maria, Talos wouldn't be able to tell her apart from the real one, and if she faked her own death Talos would have no reason to think the person before him was none other than Maria Hill. Maria looked shocked with she ran into Talos, but maybe there's a lot more to that surprise than we first thought. We didn't see Soren die. We were told she died off camera and we haven't seen Maria in a long time. Everyone from all sides keeps talking about Nick losing his edge, but I don't think he has. This episode is following similar beats we saw in the Winter Soldier and Alexander Pierce jumped at the chance to take Fury out the moment he thought Fury had lost a step, and Fury played the part, faked his death and all, put on a very public show for others to see and mourn his passing. Are we seeing the same thing happen here, but in a little different? "If you want to stay ahead of me, Mister Secretary, you need to keep both eyes open." -Nick Fury When we first see Nick Fury both of his eyes are open--he's very clearly wearing his eye patch in the Marvel's trailer, which takes place after this. Everyone's written him off, and he's playing the part. I like the feel of this series and I can't wait to see how it all plays out. The Skrull fallout looks to have started in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier with the Power Broker--Sharon has to be a Skrull; she walked off a gunshot wound to the gut. Will Maria too? I don't know if we'll see her immediate return, if she returns, as her apparent death is likely need to give the angry Skrulls a false sense of comfort. Nick still has an ace up his sleeve, Monica Rambeau! The last time we saw her was in WandaVision and Nick Fury had a trusted Ally go down and pick her up, remember? Anyway, I cannot wait to see how this all plays out. Let's go!
Loved your comment! Absolutely! Everybody thinks Nick Fury is out of shape and ready to retire the jersey! It’s the perfect cover because they don’t find him that threatening anymore. Nobody will see him coming full force like he usually does. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with. Also yes! Per movie rules if you don’t see a body they’re most likely not dead (Soren) I’d be surprised if she doesn’t return later. Who knows! Maybe she disagreed with Talos and she’s spearheading the Invasion. Maybe she’s working with Talos and went deep undercover but in order to do so she had to fake her death. Anything is possible in a spy thriller but it’s even more complex since they can literally be anybody. And finally yeah! Great point! Anything after Endgame is fair game. Anybody we’ve seen so far who don’t have powers could’ve been a Skrull. Rhodey, Sharon Carter, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Any of these and many more could already have been taken over by the Skrulls. It’s gonna be a wild ride figuring out who’s who and who’s not been themselves for a little while. And yeah! We’d love to see Monica back as she would tie in perfectly, knows G’iah and would also come in handy to see her power set before The Marvels. Can’t wait for next weeks Ep! @@OfficialMediaKnights absolutely! Another thing to consider is Super Skrull! Why did the Power Broker want 29 vials of Super Soldier serum? Skrulls can mimic superheroes, right? Well, we don’t really know their MCU limitations yet, but if they could, why didn’t they copy Carol 30 years ago? I wonder if the Power Broker gave Gravik a vial already, making him the MCU’s Super Skrull. Skrulls don’t need super strength, so I wonder how that serum would work with them. We don’t have the Fantastic Four yet, so Super Skrull, if we get him, would likely be very different.
Oh man! I wonder how they’d explain Super Skrull or like you said what are their limitations? If they encounter someone with powers could they maybe mimic that as well? I guess we’ll have to wait and see! Although having all of them have that ability would be a logistical nightmare for the writers. So I think it’s just gonna be one or at least few of them that have that ability!
@@OfficialMediaKnights I figure they'd want to keep a Super Skrull down to one, though the plan was probably 20 given that the Power Broker had 20 vials made in the Falcon and Winter Soldier series. The Flag Smashers stole those vials, but how do we know that a vial or two wasn't already delivered to Gravik? I can't help but think that we're going to get Super Skrull--this is the best opportunity to introduce him, and in the comics (when I was reading them anyway), there was only one, and he had the powers of the Fantastic Four. As you know, the Fantastic Four aren't part of the MCU yet, as a team anyway or a part of this universe. The MCU's Super Skrull was likely always going to be different anyway, given that the MCU doesn't do a one to one comic book to film translation anyway. Everything they've done is heavily inspired, while being uniquely its own thing. There is a series commercial which shows Gravik doing an attack with his arm that looks very similar to Groots tree branch attack. Is that something also Skrulls can do or is that a Super Power given to him by some sort of mutation? What do you suppose Doctor Erskine's serum would do to a Skrull? They don't exactly need super strength, as they are already stronger than humans. Doctor Erskine told Steve that in addition to giving a person super strength that his serum would make a person more of what they already were. If Skrulls can copy people at will, what if the serum allows them to copy numerous people at will? That would explain how Gravik was able to be that little girl with a ball, the old man at the bar and the woman we saw sitting on the bench before Nick got nabbed. We haven't seen a Skrull retain copies before. We've seen them take on random forms of Captain Marvel seamlessly, but they had to be looking at that person--Gravik had his eyes on Nick and he transformed out of view, but I think we can still assume he was still looking towards Nick while changing. I wonder how long we'll have to wait to see what Gravik's able to do and how he's able to do these things, but I suspect the Super Soldier serum we saw in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the answer. These series need to start tying things up and the Power Broker's backstory needs to come full circle. Next week's going to be wild--it's already wild, lol. I can't wait! I need more. Will we learn who played Sharon? Might it have been G'iah or someone else entirely?

I like that you don't do what you were supposed to do: you had to react to Pulp Fiction but you reacted to Death Proof (thanks for that, I thought it wasn't in my top 3 Tarantino but I definitely changed my mind!); you were supposed to react to Karate Kid and Cobra Kai but Black Mirror and Secret Invasion came out of nowhere. You pleasantly surprise me. OK, OK, first of all, Black Mirror and Secret Invasion are pretty obvious choices: I was surprised because I'm totally unaware of what's happening with the series (I was quietly immersed in The Glory and oblivious of everything else). Then you warned me that you were going to react to a Marvel thing. I just had no idea that Secret Invasion belonged to the Marvel license LOL. But that you changed your mind allowed me to justify doing it myself. I wrote to you that Black Mirror Episode 2 was disappointing, but most people love it. The thing is, it's not what I expected from an episode of Black Mirror. But objectively, it's a great episode that I will remember for a long time. I think you should watch the whole season. There are references from one episode to another and like a major theme that emerges from this series of 5. Season 5 was, still this good old Black Mirror, but very slow, like out of breath. Season 6 is a new beginning, a new breath, a renewal, with things we didn't expect. We find the same atmosphere, but it's new and really good. Finally, I accepted the Disney+ terms and conditions without reading them by resubscribing to watch Secret Invasion 😱. Good resolutions, right?

Ohhhh that's an excellent point - we definitely feel like there is more than meets the eye to this, Fury always has some type of backup plan! And his moves are always calculated - his 'weaker' appearance feels more like a play. Or he's a Skrull?!

Also yes! Per movie rules if you don’t see a body they’re most likely not dead (Soren) I’d be surprised if she doesn’t return later. Who knows! Maybe she disagreed with Talos and she’s spearheading the Invasion. Maybe she’s working with Talos and went deep undercover but in order to do so she had to fake her death. Anything is possible in a spy thriller but it’s even more complex since they can literally be anybody.
And finally yeah! Great point! Anything after Endgame is fair game. Anybody we’ve seen so far who don’t have powers could’ve been a Skrull. Rhodey, Sharon Carter, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Any of these and many more could already have been taken over by the Skrulls. It’s gonna be a wild ride figuring out who’s who and who’s not been themselves for a little while. And yeah! We’d love to see Monica back as she would tie in perfectly, knows G’iah and would also come in handy to see her power set before The Marvels.

@@OfficialMediaKnights absolutely! Another thing to consider is Super Skrull! Why did the Power Broker want 29 vials of Super Soldier serum? Skrulls can mimic superheroes, right? Well, we don’t really know their MCU limitations yet, but if they could, why didn’t they copy Carol 30 years ago? I wonder if the Power Broker gave Gravik a vial already, making him the MCU’s Super Skrull. Skrulls don’t need super strength, so I wonder how that serum would work with them. We don’t have the Fantastic Four yet, so Super Skrull, if we get him, would likely be very different.
Oh man! I wonder how they’d explain Super Skrull or like you said what are their limitations? If they encounter someone with powers could they maybe mimic that as well? I guess we’ll have to wait and see! Although having all of them have that ability would be a logistical nightmare for the writers. So I think it’s just gonna be one or at least few of them that have that ability!
@@OfficialMediaKnights I figure they'd want to keep a Super Skrull down to one, though the plan was probably 20 given that the Power Broker had 20 vials made in the Falcon and Winter Soldier series. The Flag Smashers stole those vials, but how do we know that a vial or two wasn't already delivered to Gravik?
I can't help but think that we're going to get Super Skrull--this is the best opportunity to introduce him, and in the comics (when I was reading them anyway), there was only one, and he had the powers of the Fantastic Four. As you know, the Fantastic Four aren't part of the MCU yet, as a team anyway or a part of this universe.
The MCU's Super Skrull was likely always going to be different anyway, given that the MCU doesn't do a one to one comic book to film translation anyway. Everything they've done is heavily inspired, while being uniquely its own thing. There is a series commercial which shows Gravik doing an attack with his arm that looks very similar to Groots tree branch attack. Is that something also Skrulls can do or is that a Super Power given to him by some sort of mutation?
What do you suppose Doctor Erskine's serum would do to a Skrull? They don't exactly need super strength, as they are already stronger than humans. Doctor Erskine told Steve that in addition to giving a person super strength that his serum would make a person more of what they already were. If Skrulls can copy people at will, what if the serum allows them to copy numerous people at will? That would explain how Gravik was able to be that little girl with a ball, the old man at the bar and the woman we saw sitting on the bench before Nick got nabbed. We haven't seen a Skrull retain copies before. We've seen them take on random forms of Captain Marvel seamlessly, but they had to be looking at that person--Gravik had his eyes on Nick and he transformed out of view, but I think we can still assume he was still looking towards Nick while changing.
I wonder how long we'll have to wait to see what Gravik's able to do and how he's able to do these things, but I suspect the Super Soldier serum we saw in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the answer. These series need to start tying things up and the Power Broker's backstory needs to come full circle.
Next week's going to be wild--it's already wild, lol. I can't wait! I need more. Will we learn who played Sharon? Might it have been G'iah or someone else entirely?

I like that you don't do what you were supposed to do: you had to react to Pulp Fiction but you reacted to Death Proof (thanks for that, I thought it wasn't in my top 3 Tarantino but I definitely changed my mind!); you were supposed to react to Karate Kid and Cobra Kai but Black Mirror and Secret Invasion came out of nowhere. You pleasantly surprise me.
OK, OK, first of all, Black Mirror and Secret Invasion are pretty obvious choices: I was surprised because I'm totally unaware of what's happening with the series (I was quietly immersed in The Glory and oblivious of everything else). Then you warned me that you were going to react to a Marvel thing. I just had no idea that Secret Invasion belonged to the Marvel license LOL.
But that you changed your mind allowed me to justify doing it myself. I wrote to you that Black Mirror Episode 2 was disappointing, but most people love it. The thing is, it's not what I expected from an episode of Black Mirror. But objectively, it's a great episode that I will remember for a long time. I think you should watch the whole season. There are references from one episode to another and like a major theme that emerges from this series of 5. Season 5 was, still this good old Black Mirror, but very slow, like out of breath. Season 6 is a new beginning, a new breath, a renewal, with things we didn't expect. We find the same atmosphere, but it's new and really good.
Finally, I accepted the Disney+ terms and conditions without reading them by resubscribing to watch Secret Invasion 😱. Good resolutions, right?

Yoo!! I didn't know this came out already! Im running behind on my marvel. So far this episode was solid i hope the series doesn't fall off and its up there with loki and wanda vision. Also for some reason this episode from the perspective of the Skrolls gives me Detroit:become human vibes.
I loved that they also gave us the reason as to why the skrulls are behaving this way. Kind of remind me of the flag smashers and their leader! Glad you got to catch this ep. Definitely hoping it gets to those Loki levels😄

Def went sideways for Fury, particularly Hill, but it feels like he's doing the Rope a Dope to draw everyone out. IMHO.
Ohhhh that's an excellent point - we definitely feel like there is more than meets the eye to this, Fury always has some type of backup plan! And his moves are always calculated - his 'weaker' appearance feels more like a play. Or he's a Skrull?!
