    For me, the biggest moment of suspense was Gravik succeeding his plan and shooting Maria while disgusting himself as Nick. However, my favorite part was Gi’ah pulling herself together to warn her father.
    Looking at Talos in human form, I remember that his actor Ben Mendelsohn was Orson Krennic in Rogue One.

    1. Damn, Madison is glowing!
    Pregnancy looks great on you!
    2. Amazing pilot episode!
    This is up there with WandaVision, Loki, Moon Knight and What If for incredible pilot episodes.
    3. Also, rest in peace, Maria Hill.
    Her getting clapped by Gravik, and her thinking it was Fury in her dying breath is heartbreaking.
    Godspeed to a real one.
    4. Also also, the opening intro is generated by Artificial Intelligence.
    It has garnered backlash online due to the current Writer's Strike (other than compensation and better deals, the main reason for the Strike is fear of A.I. taking jobs away).
    5. While I am fearful of what it will do in the future, however, for the sake of this show (and ONLY this show), it's okay in my book.
    Obviously, I support the visual artists and what they do. But, this intro is fine by me, because it's going for the paranoia theme ("who can you trust/what is real", etc). I personally dig it.

      How does using ai go with the "who can you trust" theme? The skrulls look like ordinary people, but the ai looks like ai. Using something that is very obvious in it's appearance as a metaphor for "you never know the truth" is crazy.

    In the comics, some of the skrulls that were sent as plants before the invasion started didn't know they were skrulls. They were basically Manchurian candidated with stolen memories and a trigger phrase. I think that bit G'iah said about staying in their shells all the time to make it harder to detect them was something of an homage to that concept from the comics.

    Hill has been through and survived so much.. and just to go out by just a single bullet from the one person she knows she can trust. and even seeing him just leave her to bleed out on a cold russian street. for some reason it hit me different the second time watchin. it seems like a very simple and primitive death but its pretty savage.

    Combine Talos' comment about Fury "standing out" when he went for a walk, and how Fury was noticing everyone around him while walking, of course, he wanted to be "scooped up" as that was the quickest way to get to the MI-6 Operative.

    @MAC React,
    4:12 gravity, real gravity?
    5:29 Well, I don't think it's that exactly. This feels very much like Winter Soldier. Do you remember how that started? Steve thought he and Natasha were sent to save SHIELD agents from a group of mercenaries--Natasha was on the ship to download SHIELD files. Nick paid the mercenaries to do what they did because he couldn't download the files at HQ without drawing attention to himself. SHIELD files being downloaded on a ship hijacked by mercenaries, however, sounds on brand--the perfect cover!
    I think this is the culmination of all the seeds planted in the Disney Plus shows, but particularly WandaVision, which explained more about SWORD, which was introduced to us in Far From Home, and the Falcon and the Winter Soldier which introduced us to the Power Broker (Skrulls) as well as the CIA building its own team of Superheroes to deal with coming from within.
    Anyway, back to Winter Soldier, Alexander Pierce caught wind of what Nick had done and tried to take him out, and Nick faked his death, which got Alexander to slip up, and Nick brought him and all of Hydra down with the aid of his own agent working on the inside undercover, Natasha Romonoff. This series already feels like a repeat of that to me. Nick doesn't have Natasha, but he already has a capable agent and we met her in Far From Home, Soren! And who was Soren in that movie? Maria Hill! I think Soren is still playing the part unbeknownst to her husband. Talso believes she died in a mission that went south--if she's undercover she needed to commit to the role to make every believe what had happened really happen. This series tells us Soren's dead--she died off screen? And when didn't see her body? I'm not buying it!
    5:44 Don't get your hopes up. We didn't see War Machine in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, remember. But if Nuclear War is on the table, well, we might see a lot more than War Machine in this series!
    6:36 and that's why Nick is on Earth. The figures behind all this are starting to make themselves known, and it's time to put them down.
    8:27 This is some important info. Might this also be why Soren, if she is Maria Hill, can't be found out? She's been playing the part of Maria since Far From Home, but if everyone thinks she died in a terrorist attack prior to the show starting, Talso and others wouldn't suspect that Soren was Maria Hill, and that Maria Hill is who she says she is. Is this new guy and undercover agent trying to get Intel from within?
    9:00 the Same thing they did to Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel--that machine allows them to see memories, but it also keeps their captors sedated. Since they're using these humans as shells, they need to keep them out of the picture. It wouldn't be wise to have two of the same person walking around while working undercover--could seriously compromise one's mission.
    9:48 is she defending her man, right here? Did you also notice how Nick greeted Maria and Talos upon meeting them for the first time in a long time? I can't imagine Nick doing that with any of his subordinates, but his new family, the Skrulls have really grown on him and he's grown accustomed to their ways. Head to head greetings is the Skrull way, but if Soren is indeed Maria, she'd have to do things the human way, which is a hug.
    12:07 Did Maria spot G'iah because she's that good or because a mother can spot their own child out of a crowd pretty easily? Note, that I don't doubt Maria's ability to do her job well, I just don't think that this is the real Maria.
    12:33 Why is Maria able to go toe-to-toe with a Skrull? Do you remember Nick's first fight with Talos? It didn't go well! Skrulls are much stronger than the average human. It's like this series keeps trying to tell us that we're seeing someone else filling the role of Maria Hill.
    13:31 I still think she staged her own death, as she and Nick, are trying to flush the bad Skrulls out.
    18:14 Sharon got shot in the gut too in the Falcon in the Winter soldier, and she, um, walked it off. Might Maria walk it off too? For the time being, I think she's going to be out of the picture because they need to keep up appearances, but I'd like to remind you of Nick's "death" in the Winter Solider. We were all made to believe he died so that those working behind the scenes would slip up, and I think that's what was orchestrated here. Time will tell, however. Still, I think the real Maria Hill is up on Saber with Monica overseeing whatever Nick was working on up there while he takes care of things down on Earth. Everything think Nick has lost a step, but that's by design.
    "If you want to stay a head of me, Mister Secretary, you need to keep both eyes open."
    --Nick Fury
    Oddly enough this series started with Nick having both eyes open;)

    Already in episode one there is at least one plothole. The Skrulls are hiding out around nuclear radiation and waste because it doesn't affect them. However, they are wearing earth clothes and driving earth vehicles which carry that radiation. Whenever they go around humans, the humans would become poisoned with radiation from the Skrulls' cars and clothes.

      @@suddenimpulse030 That is a significant plot hole because they made it a major story point. They are difficult to track and chase because they hide out in radiation zones. And Russia has the most radiation zones on earth and that's where they are headquartered.

    • @georgegogiashvili9416
      @georgegogiashvili9416 Рік тому

      The dumbest comment I have ever read. How about the Skrulls themselves? Are clothes and cars carrying radiation, but Skrulls not because they are immune? What about the wind that blows from those areas to cities? However, with just a few words to Google, there is a simple answer: The only type of radiation capable of directly causing other materials to become radioactive is neutron radiation, which is generally found only inside nuclear reactors or in a nuclear detonation. Radiation doesn't kill instantly; a significant amount is required to become deadly. That's why Skrulls are going to cause a nuclear war. Just cars and clothes are not enough. They are going to wipe out all humans from the Earth. They actually want people to die. So, where do you see a plot hole here?

    While your reaction was as fun and enjoyable as what I've come to expect - I did not enjoy the episode itself, sorry to complain. I just don't get how Marvel/Disney can have that much money and resources to put into anything they do, they make something that's not very engaging, I wasn't really connecting to any of the characters EXCEPT Nick Fury, amazing actor as usual. It's just that as a story you want to be emotionally invested in some kind of personal story - regardless of what the larger plot is - and I really wasn't. I think they could have done a better job in making the characters a bit more sympathetic. There was a lot of clunky exposition, which they tried to mask with dialogue, but it just felt forced. Apologies for complaining but I cannot lie, how can we continue to get this kind of stuff from such a huge studio. This isn't about big budget and special effects...etc, this is about a story that draws in, intrigues and connects the audience - which this episode was not, however...
    It only started getting good at the end sequence when things started to pop off, and of course with that shocking death. And I get that they need to 'set things up' but plenty of shows have very engaging set ups that draw you into the world and the story in the first 5 minutes, or even in the first minute. Im hopeful for the other episodes that are going to follow though so we'll wait and see

    • @georgegogiashvili9416
      @georgegogiashvili9416 Рік тому

      Ouh, what happened to that: You should watch at least 4 episodes of GOT to be invested in. Or you are talking about something better then GOT?

    • @nadeeml9276
      @nadeeml9276 Рік тому

      @@georgegogiashvili9416 Im not sure what you're trying to say. What I am trying to say, I'll say it simply, is that a show/movie should get you invested from the first few minutes, the first scene. Episode 1 of secret invasion was bad, it was boring, and it didn't do what it was supposed to despite the amount of money and talent at Disney
