The ending of this shocked me.
Joe....fury held the bazooka in the avengers to shoot down the F-16 that was going to nuke NYC....it wasn't in TWS
Maria was one of the last people I expected to die in this show
I had it mildly ruined without realizing fully, because I noticed Cobie's name wasn't in the opening credits. Then first thing in the credits: Special Guest Cobie Smulders. But she was also a Skrull in Far From Home like Nick, and every Skrull that died in this episode took hella long to change from human back to natural form, so maybe the cut to credits hit right before the change? I need any theory to just have a smidge of hope that Maria is okay.

I think Gravik didn't fully trust Gi'ah and this was sort of a test. I think she's in a lot of trouble now, and needs to get out.
At the end when Fury was following the skrull, it was shapeshifting into people Fury ran into during his walk. Person #1 was the girl playing with the ball in the street(and then her mom came to get her), Person #2 was the guy Nick Fury bought a drink for at the bar, Person#3 was the lady making out with the guy on the bench, then he finally shifted to Gravik. This was Gravik implying that Fury had been watched and followed since he got back to earth
I was looking forward to seeing Colbie really shine in her role as Maria Hill…RIP to a real one

For me, the biggest moment of suspense was Gravik succeeding his plan and shooting Maria while disgusting himself as Nick. However, my favorite part was Gi’ah pulling herself together to warn her father.
Looking at Talos in human form, I remember that his actor Ben Mendelsohn was Orson Krennic in Rogue One.
She didn't warn her father, she knew those 3 bombs were decoys, she probably is the big bad boss, not Gravik.

Brilliant, the pace and flow was on point; music, dialogue, acting, characters all A+. Nick and Talos relationship, Sonya and Nick, Nick and Hill, Talos and Gaia; these pairings are golden; the fights were just right and played into character development. Having Nick and Talos realize they're not at their peak, this is peak Marvel. I can't see how a show this well-made to flounder in subsequent episodes, it's too good and nuanced.... I'm impressed; just 1st episode, but like Andor this rivals HBO's quality.
As it stands G'iah is a villan because Gravik said thank you to here for bringing the decoys. So she withheld that info from her father.
This was a Coulson level of effed up.

Agree that Gravik was the little girl, also the old man in the bar and the woman kissing on the bench. He seems to really hate Nick Fury and I'm curious what that relationship was. Some people are speculating he's Nick's son, but Nick doesn't really react to him like that. Maybe he was one of the Skrulls who worked with Fury doing spy missions? He's really good at shapeshifting (it does it faster and quieter than anyone else in that central square scene). Maybe he feels used and tossed aside?

The first episode of Secret Invasion was terrfic. This series gives me Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Homeland, The Americans, Cold War-era espionage Noir, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Battlestar Galactica, Men in Black, and John Carpenter's The Thing vibes. Gravik wants all the smoke and his brutal villain. What he did to Maria Hill was cold-blooded.

A dirty bomb is one that spreads highly radioactive fallout for blocks. Not only were both Fury and Hill rather nonchalant about this, but I don't think they would have gone there in case the bombs did go off. Too risky. I don't know how Maria didn't change into a Skrull after dying, but it's too much of a set up for the audience that the opening featured someone turning back into a Skrull upon death, to rub it in that Maria supposedly really is dead. Fury, despite what we've been led to believe, IS three steps ahead. We just won't see that for a few more episodes.

This Nick Fury we've been seeing is a Skrull, sent by the real Nick Fury, trained to mask his scent even from other skrulls, while the real Nick Fury is operating under the shadow, monitoring everything from behind the scene. The clues are there. Like Emilia Clarke said that there are Skrull operatives who can mask themselves from othe skrulls. and then, everybody been talking about Fury being slow and 3 steps behind, so very unlike normal Nick Fury.
