    Thank you very much for all the information, much appreciated. I've spent years, over a decade, talking to and begging the VA for direction and guidance to start my own SDVOSB business and EVERYONE I CAME INTO CONTACT WITH WERE NOT VERY HELPFUL. That's why I started my own because I got tired of waiting for the VA. You've given me more information then I've ever received from them. I hate to say that because they're supposed to be my brothers and sisters, having each other's back as veterans, but that has not been the case at all.
    Thanks again for these very informative videos.

      It's not so much that they do not care, but more that they are a Bureaucracy and have stock answers that do not necessarily apply to your situation. VETtoCEO is another program online that teaches much of the same content, and I highly recommend the program to anyone interested.

    You have any videos on cert. payrol and Davis bacon wages? I feel like a lot of contractors especially subs feel overwhelmed or confused with union work. When cold calling or shopping for new subs a lot of them get turned off by the idea of rate jobs when I’m reality it’s very simple. Just a suggestion for video if you haven’t already made one. Thanks again

    If I’m understanding you correctly there are two steps to 8a, 1 is the certification and 2 is the full program. If I only certify ( but don’t trigger the 9 year clock by starting the program), can I still win set aside bids as 8a?

    Hello Derek. Like all your videos, this is great/useful content. I have purchased your consulting book and workbook (extremely useful) and am in the process of writing my first contract proposal. It is a total small business set aside. Question for this video, the fifth set aside that you did not discuss is "Total Small Business." Does this just have to do with the size of the business? What does total small business mean? If I do not qualify for any of the 4 set asides you discussed, should I even consider the contract?

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  3 роки тому

      It just means anyone who is a small business can bid on it. There’s nothing special you have to do to get it, you are automatically default. I don’t want to confuse people so that’s why.

      @@GovKidMethod It can... in a sense. You can hold both, but technically if you are going for a 8(a), having the SDVOSB should not technically berifit you over any other entity that does not have it.

      @@jeffg6924 It's not in a sense, it's very real. If you are an 8a and SDVOSB, both contracting small business goals can be met by working with your company. They will benefit on 8a goals and SDVOSB goals by working with your company. It's not one or the other. Also, it allows you as a company to pursue both 8(a) and SDVOSB set-aside contracts. And don't get me started on how much it can benefit you in sole-source/direct award strategy by having both.

    What happens if you move from 1 HUB Zone to another?

    • @_Abjuranax_
      @_Abjuranax_ 3 роки тому +1

      You have to maintain your HUBZone status every 3 years, and inspections are random during that time. So moving should not be a problem if you keep your status up to date with the SBA. HUBZones can also be re-designated, so moving may be the only way to maintain your HUBZone status.

    I've been competing for SDVOSB for two years now, and I have found out that there is a ton of fraud. Companies claim to be SDVOSB, but have not started or completed the CVE process of certification to gain the set-aside. I see so many awards granted to companies that do not qualify. There is a check box in the SAM setup, but this does NOT qualify you as SDVOSB. The certification is intense and takes nearly a year. Does anyone know about legal actions that can be taken for fraudulent awards?

    • @GovKidMethod
      @GovKidMethod  3 роки тому

      You are correct, it's a very intense certification! You should protest those awards: www.gao.gov/legal/bid-protests/faqs/ I'm glad you brought this up. I just did a video about companies misusing their set-asides and one of the companies I covered was an SDVOSB. Here is the video link to that: ua-cam.com/video/Uba6-i8Hmrc/v-deo.html

    • @philipkircher2848
      @philipkircher2848 3 роки тому

      @@GovKidMethod I would highly recommend filing a local protest with the agency contracting officer before filing with GAO. Your local protest can request the winning bidder prove their SDVOSB status by providing a DD214 that shows a service related disability or a letter from the VA stating eligibility. If the vendor can not provide that, the contracting officer will sustain your local protest. That is a far faster, easier and no cost alternative to filing with GAO.
