Hi Phill, If stretching is new to your fitness routine, it can take a little getting used to. However, stretching should never be painful. If you try the video again, try not stretching quite as far as well as doing this routine after a walk or another workout.
As it keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way
Take it slow if you are new to stretching. It is also important to properly warm up first..even a short walk would be good enough! We gradually lose flexibility as we age if we don't stretch and it's very important we remain flexible so we can keep our joints strong and healthy!
