Thanks for the video. A couple modifications I (and others) have done is to add a T-Bolt Ram ball on the seat gear tracks to prevent the seat moving. I am 6'1" and 190lbs and that stops the movement. Also, I put on different ties that work much better, especially at gravel launches. I used the same ones that came with my Boonedox landing gear for my Hobie PA 14. Looking forward to seeing fish finder wiring options and batteries. I haven't added one yet but plan on doing that before next season. Also, thinking/dreaming about bow mounted trolling motor with anchor lock...if I ever go that far. Thanks again.
Kevin Murphy I have a 40 lb trust tiller on front and I'm thinking about putting the rudder cable on it and lock the rudder like a skeg. Mount the controls on that ram ball on the seat
One thing I saw on the owners group was that the seat base plastic begins to show ware and becomes wobbly over time. As for taking apart from the frame I would think you would need to sit some crates under the hall to remove the pontoons.
i know this is an old video but one thing with the seat I think they could do is just add a pull pin instead of a threaded lock bolt. Notch holes and have a pull pin every 1/8" and you can just lock it in with a pull pin that way it doesnt slide if you pedal fast.
great info here, love the platform and fish ability of this boat. Any chance we can see how she handles in the wind, and or tide. (could be wrong but looking from where I'm sitting) there doesn't seem to be a lot of reachable, ergonomic places to mount an anchor on a platform like this. If you did an anchor wizard or something, you would have to reach down to crank it ,etc...
Looks like a great fishing platform, but a little out of my budget. The pedestal seat combined with a pedal drive would also make me a bit concerned about breaking the seat off.
Not a full review until you gear it out. Dragging/peddling with a cooler, a crate, rods on rack, and a micro anchor on back. You will lose room, casting angles, maneuverability. I'd love to have one just because I carry a lot of gear, but there are always trade offs.
Just food for thought, but I wonder how it would do on a breezy/windy day? With the seat sitting high above the deck, one's body will more than likely cause a heck of a sail effect......as compared to sitting lower on a standard kayak. I get a sail effect when on the pedastal seats on my jon boat, but the jon boat is probably a bit heavier than the Blue Sky rig. Looking fwd to viewing the upcoming tests. 👍
Greg Jackson had it out this week in 15mph wind and was so surprised at how well it did. It tracks and holds position so well that the wind didnt effect it much. That was my #1 concern when I first saw it. I tested it in Oklahoma at Paddlesports Retailer in big wind and that demo is when I decided to bring them in.
Great video thank you for sharing I understand it's not possible to keep everybody happy But this is what I would like to see with the Blue Sky Boatworks 360 Angler It would be nice if they manufactured a Big Brother model. I would like it to be at least one foot wider the diameter of the floats an extra 5 in larger Lose the pedal drive completely I would like a flat open deck in front, Install a motor mount with the capability of a 4 hp gas, heavier wall aluminum side rails Port and Sarboard out of inch and a half schedule 40 square aluminum tubing with accessibility tracks on top for GoPro, Rod Holders, ect Where I fish we have a 4 to 6 mph current and you add a three mile an hour head wind a peddle drive just isn't practical. I know this is wishful thinking but it would be nice to have something available other than a cumbersome mini pontoon... thank you
I am considering the 360 for me and my 6 year old son. We tested one out a few months ago and he sat/stood on the front porch and loved it. Curious on your thoughts of adding a cooler/seat to the front porch he could fish out of while I fish from the captains' seat. Too crowded? Would like to see a test with a grown man and child trying to fish from it if you can make that happen!
Since commenting on this. I did check out a couple of Blue Sky demos at a retailer in Swansboro, NC. I was disappointed to see so much corrosion on the hardware. The connectors on both ends of the steering cable were rusted. The hex head bolts at the pedals were rusted so heavily that I doubt they could even be removed without damaging them. The pedal drive head, itself, had notable oxidation bubbling up under the grey paint, with some of the paint already flaking away, and moderate pitting of the aluminum surface underneath. Also, the release buttons for removing the hulls from the frame could not be pushed in. I was pushing with my thumb and neither one of them budged. The guys at the store said they have only had these for about 3 months. I was concerned enough to send an email to the manufacturer, asking if they were addressing these issues in any way. That was about two weeks ago, and I have yet to receive a reply. I was looking seriously at this to replace my PA 14, but I will hold off for a while to see if the company makes any improvements for saltwater use.
Fishing off of it would be a piece of cake man so to me that's not the impressive part the impressive part for me would be paddling that beast lol would it be better to paddle with a kayak paddle sitting down in the chair or would be better with a sup paddle standing up front or in the back or would it be better on a platform like a cooler standing up with a sup paddle that's something you should check out in your next video Dan because you never know if something might happen to the pedal drive just a suggestion but great content as usual keep up the good work Dan
I'm curious because it's what around 4 foot wide and probably weighs about the same as a titan 13.5 hell the titan 13.5 is close to the same width at 41.5" but you'll sit lower to the water in the titan 13.5 but then again I've never paddled a titan 13.5 except the 10.5 which wasn't the bad but that's 37.5"
I was curious about its turning ability while going in reverse. I demoed a Coosa FD and I was disappointed with the reverse as well as the rudder control. Angler 360 looks to have silver the rudder control problem!
First off this is not a kayak in my opinion, but what I find interesting is that none of the videos I have watched on your channel show anything other than calm weather. Do you not use kayaks in the wind or mild choppy water?
I would think that this would fall into a different category than a Kayak It's more like a catamaran Hope KBF out laws it , they need to put a 12' limit on kayak's or the're going back to where they started
Can this handle a large man and stay stable (300 lbs). It says 500lbs in the manual. I have a diablo amigo that is GREAT, super stable never flipped... But I want the peddle drive and the ability to stand occassionally. I like the jackson big rig (classic) thats what both my buddies use and they are 250-280 and it's super awesome. I am 295 so I'm concerned that this will be stable with my fat ass on it. Any feedback for large guys? Or would Jackson recommend that someone my size should I go with a big rig fd?
I went to a kayak place that sells these this past weekend that has these on sale and I looked at it first hand. It seems bigger than it looks in the videos. They couldn't let me demo it but I did a side by side compare with the big rig traditional and hd and its taller than it looks in the water. My first instinct is that the wheels are WAY too small. But they are secured with a cotter pin so they might be easily replaced with some fatter more off roady ones. Those skinny wheels under 150lbs load feel like a hell of a mud trap I think... I kayak a lot and seen tons of muddy shores when the boat ramps aren't available. Secondly anchors... I built and have used a retracting clothes line kit with 75foot of paracord tied and heatshrink wrapped on a trolly system strapped to the side of my larry chair on my amigo for years that worked like a dream in currents. I fish deeper lakes 50+ feet so a 10 foot "power" pole wont cut it... I'm not sure about how to do the same with this... But other than those 2 things, I think this is the right boat for me, I'm gonna buy it in the next two weeks and will provide some more feedback for others "big guys" considering it.
Can you find a SALT water DEEP sea coastal Kaya that's PONTOON style with small engine out board on back potential.? for saltwater coastal fishing I like being up off the water as much as possible. Pontoon are great stability and wide birth are great. Can anyone desighn a better BOW? like sharper higher bows for larger wave action? Like a V hull boat on the pontoons?
This is no kayak, but who really cares. It has most of the advantages of one and the fish don't care what it's called. I would be scared to take it in the salt, but it has one big advantage I like. With the pedals sitting between the pontoons the prop doesn't have to ride so low in the water. It seems like the pedal drive would handle shallow water better than any other yak.
Aliex Folgueira I need to start using a GPS and having a standardization for the test. In another video the Coosa FD smoked a Titan and kept up with a Hobie PA. So I honestly don’t know how fast. The Blue Sky moves better than I expected though.
Cool toy. But if your going to put a motor on something that big and expensive why not just get a normal boat? I mean I got a 14 foot deep V with a trailer and an almost new 18hp 4 stroke motor for $1700. Which is about half the cost of this. So you have the price of this thing plus the motor and possibly a trailer to transport as it would appear that's the easiest way to do it so as not to have to assemble and disassemble and your looking at a lot of money. You could get a pretty nice used boat.
The electric power head will be great for getting to and from your fishing area. You can then switch to the pedals. I've been fishing a PA 14 for a few years, and getting to and from my fishing holes is what can wear you out. I've pedaled over 16 miles on my fishing trips, and would have loved an electric motor that can quickly be switched back to pedals.
@@HeadwatersKayak If this fits in a truck bed, so would a 14 foot jon boat. According to Blue Sky's website, even without the seat and pedal drive this weighs more than an Alumacraft 14 jon boat. If my jon boat had something like the BoonDox landing gear on it, putting it in would have been no more difficult than this thing would be. You could likely still do it with a small gas kicker on it too. The reason you go for this is the pedal drive. So long as you don't need the range of a boat with a gas kicker, this thing with a pedal drive gives you a huge, fish-able platform that you can move around very quietly and with reasonable speed. Between the pedals, paddles, a pole and the option of a trolling motor, you have a ton of options to quietly move around the fish. Plus, on a lot of the flats in my area, you can't use a gas motor at all there and there are no wake zones everywhere. That's a place where something like this could shine. Personally speaking, I chose a Dorado over this because I feared this thing would struggle with the rough chop that is common in salt water I couldn't find one to demo to find out for sure.
OK I'm dreaming have a teen peddle this thing for you , put a bench seat facing backwards and go trolling for kokaniee , And let the squirt do all the work. The dream.
I bought my wife one. I really don't like it. Feels super tippy compared to my kayak. She's not a huge fan either but feels bad for spending so much on a turd so she doesn't say much. It's hard to get her to take it out. Hoping she gets used to it.
They cost $3,500. If the Twin Troller X-10 was never invented, this Blue Sky 360 would be my 2nd choice. I think you're getting far more of a fishing machine vs the Hobie Pro Angler 14 that costs $3,600. But I absolutely love my Twin Troller. Bought mine brand new 2 years ago, and invented a killer custom raised casting platform that made it even better, in several ways. The casting deck also doubles as a great work station/bench, a perfect place to take a knee or sit on to land fish without even bending over......net or no net. It doubles the floor space for that amount of floor space because you can store tackle boxes or whatever underneath it, and still stand or sit on top of it. It makes a super comfortable "foot stool" when using the gas outboard for long distance traveling. Last but not least, it makes entering & exiting the boat from any dock or bank so fast, easy & safe........you can literally run onto the boat & take off like ya stole it. My casting platform & my Twin Troller set-up can be seen on youtube channel: "Lunker012". Don't get me wrong.......I love many of the fishing kayaks with or without peddle drive. It just bothers me to see some of them like the Hobie Pro Angler 14 priced at $3,600. Yes, it's a quality kayak........but $3600 is WAY over--priced.
@@capndave3570 There isn't a thing about that craft that justifies the cost of $3,600. Especially when you look at the competition. Other kayaks just as good, with peddle drive, costing over $1,000 LESS. On a dollar for dollar value, no way. Add the equally over-priced Torqeedo with the only really usable battery, and there's another 2500 bucks, that totals $6,100. It will run 5 mph top-speed, and your battery won't last long. You can buy the Twin Troller X-10 that already has the killer unique & patented twin salt-water grade electric motors & peddles that make the ONLY true "hands free" operation that is actually intuitive as well, AND a 3.5hp Tohatsu 4 stroke outboard (best in the industry ) to go farther even faster, PLUS the galv trailer.......and STILL come in at LESS than the PA 14 at $5,650, and that INCLUDES SHIPPING. I just invented a raised casting platform that takes the already killer Twin Troller to a whole new level in several ways. I unknowingly made it a true mini bass/flats boat. And I didn't even add in the nice 14 gal live well WITH aeriator that is custom made for the Twin Troller, for only $169. STILL costs less than the PA 14. Hey, it's your money, and the PA 14 is a nice kayak. But it IS grossly over-priced in the real world of dollar for dollar value.
You lost all credibility when you tried to equate a pond boat like the Twin Troller to a Hobie. People who want quality equipment are willing to pay for it. Otherwise Hobie would have been out of business years ago. That X-10 would never survive the environment many Hobie fishermen enjoy. If it works for you, and the type of fishing you do, then good on ya!
The “good ol’ days”, when kayaks were 3 n 4 hundred dollars. Then they get popularity and all of a sudden, there over 2 grand, if you want the pedals. FU*CKING RIDICULOUS. Of course, I guess if you got the money i blow, then he’ll yeah, awesome idea!
Could you do a REALISTIC video with cooler to store fish or drinks, average tackle storage, bring a few rods and actually fish with them, you know just like WE would go out to fish on one.... not bare with just a pole and paddle! I have been looking for more about how people really use these TO REALLY FISH because they look great.
PMSL 🤣 I can cast a line from the bank without wasting $4000. Much cheaper and still get the fish. Then go home light with only a bag of fish, no trailer to tow. Win win.
The walk around platform is neat.

How smooth is using a paddle?
Could another person sit on front? How about getting in and out of water (from swimming)?
How does the Blue Sky handle big lake chop? Will water get into the hatches?
It is a wet ride. Also when the wind picks up you become a sail sitting that high.
How does the flex drive v2 compare to the latest propel drive? Thinking about selling my Titan 10.5 for a Blue Sky 360.
You can really get shallow with that for big fish.

Demo it in different waters. We all don't get to fish in calm waters. How does handle waves and wakes from other boats
Should have an engine mount for small out boat like 2.3-5hp.
I think there is one now.
This Boat is over $3,000
amon tri this boat is overpriced.
In your opinion...
Cap'n Dave people fail to realize they spend more on unnecessary stuff a month that could easily add up to two of these in a year of savings.
If the seat height 1 feet it will be much comfort.
Great product but not affordable for the price you can buy a used car lol make them affordable price for normal people
PMSL 🤣 I can cast a line from the bank without wasting $4000. Much cheaper and still get the fish. Then go home light with only a bag of fish, no trailer to tow. Win win.
Does not look stable
Razor Back11 your right. If your an over 400lb guy with a severe drinking problem you may fall and roll off the side. Buyer beware.
