I also have a RAM(2019) with a 5'7" box and I really want this shack. I know it's going to be a little too tall to fit under the tonneau cover. How far would you say it sticks above the tonneau cover? It looks like the bench supports could get at least 2"-3" removed from the height, right where they bolt to the sled. Cut those mounts off and re-weld them higher, dropping the bench down. Think that would work? And yeah, the center support would have to get cut down too, but that's a simple cut and drill new bolt holes.
At 6:40 in the video, the part you are pointing at. I think those mounts could be carefully cut off the tube and be re-welded higher up, thus lowering the bench. Could possibly go as high up as the horizontal part of the bench support by welding in some gussets. Or get fancy... cut off the mount and make a series of holes that you could use with a pin and adjust the height.
I'm going to say it wasn't even close. 3 inches maybe. I also have a bed liner in the box so that may take up an inch or so. I think they make the bench that high so you can still fit a 5 gallon pale under it??? It probably could be modified though. Thanks for watching the video and good luck.
Thanks to you, I just went out and measured my tonneau cover and it wont fit in my F150 either. Crazy since they advertise it to fit? The 2600 will fit under my tonneau cover because they don't have the curved seat back section.
Yes, I have seen video of the 2600 fitting under a tonneau cover. The 2400 isn't much smaller either. I think fishable area was a just a little bit more on the 2600 and the weight was a few lbs more. I have a lot of hills and long walks to get to the fishing spots. I think anything much bigger I would almost need to tow it with something. The 2600 and 2800 would be great for places you could use and sled or sxs to tow it though. If your going somewhere to fish like that, it's probably a bigger area of water and you would probably want the extra security of locking it up in the truck. I would. I just fish a day at time, so it works for me and my wife. I will say that the bench seat is very comfortable. The whole shelter is very comfortable really.
I've debating between this and the 2600. Want to switch froma hub. Just so I can move around a little easier if I need. Also I do 90% of my fishing alone or with my toddler who isn't much help setting up or taking down lol.
I think you'll like it. I don't mind the bench. It's comfortable. I wish it fold together a little bit better. The support poles actually stick over the base of the sled. Mine is a little heavy loaded down with an auger, heater, tackle, beer, etc. I go with my wife from time to time and she ain't pulling that sled or setting up and taking down. I can relate. Good luck,
Yes they do. It's kind of annoying. I have tried every way to fold it and that is how it folds, I guess. This is probably why the 60 inch cover doesn't fit. You have to go to a 64 inch cover.
My son just bought one and we are having a hell of a time putting the rubber trim on the base edge. Could they have sent a trim piece from a non thermal model? How did the trim go on for you? Thanks,Dave
So I had a hell of a time too. I cut mine so it doesn't rap around the sides. I used a drill bit and installed in the drill backwards so the smooth end is out. Then I stuck in the rubber trim channel and spun it up slowly. The drill bit rolls down the channel spreading is out so you can fit it onto the canvas and sled edge.
One thing that bugged me and everyone should know this tent sled doesn't come with any runners no towing hitch no sled travel cover. So your looking at spending an additional 250.00 to complete the sled
I haven't bought one in a while so I thought that was kind of normal. I have friends that have bought different brands and they have had to buy runners, hitch mounts, and covers seperately. I think they all come with the cheapy pull rope though!!!
@@paycheckmonster hey I've been wondering how far did you pull the red fabric down on the back when installing the rubber base trim? I can seem to find any photos anywhere online. And the instructions are kinda vague
How much do you estimate the bench itself weighs? I'm considering it to replace my Clam Nanook and I didn't use the seats in that hut and shaved 40lbs since I'm a walker. This one would be tad heavy as is and hoping without the bench it's around 50lb.
@@paycheckmonster Thank you so much for the reply! I just ordered this hut and yup I will simply not install the whole bench assembly. My friend just got the Otter XT X-Over Cabin and did the same and it also shaved 40lbs which is huge for us walkers and a regular hunting chair will do just fine.
My truck bed measure 5.5 ft and it fits snug. The spec on the tub is 60 inches but I think when I measured bracket to bracket is was roughly 62 inches plus whatever the tent material takes up. Minimum 5.5 ft box for sure.
This one caught my eye to fit under the tonneau on my GMC, I measure only 20" as well. I was thinking if its only the curved part of that bench seat's backrest, I could just swap out the two bolts that it pivots on, for a couple of removable pins, so it could be taken off quickly to fit under the tonneau? From what I call tell, the tallest point then, would be bracket sticking up that it bolts to? Does anybody have a hight measurement to to the top of that?
So my 2015 RAM has a bed depth of about 20 inches. I think an F-150 might have a deeper box. The seat only folds one way and its about 2-3 inches from fitting in box of my truck. I do have box liner that takes up some depth but maybe by only 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch. Just a guess.
@@paycheckmonster so without the folding eskimo bench seat the shack will fit with the tonneau cover? If I were to get this shack I would do away with the included seats.
