    We have a car with this engine. I hope HGs aren't a common problem on these. I can't keep the thermostat housing from leaking which make me dislike the car. I wonder if people loose too much coolant with the thermostat housing leaking and they end up overheating it and damaging their head gasket? I keep my coolant full.

    IPC/DIC fuse that feeds the cluster, cluster is the issue, best way is to repair cluster, BUT if your like me and wanna save $$$, remove the IPC fuse and have IGN E or SEO IGN feed power to the cluster ipc fuse instead. this way its not always hot, but only when vehicle is in start/run condition, if you wanna be safe you can always add another fuse in place

    The blowby in hyundai engines are very common after 90,000 km,but the main issue is,its not letting turbo return oil to drain back into the oil pain,oil would sip into the compression side of the turbo,hence increase in oil consumption.

      Plastic wasn't the best design. That's for sure. I usually apply a little silicone sealer on the sealing surface and that helps. I can't say that I replace them that often though. I've seen several crack and also leaking from the gasket area. Most of them that I replace have had several years of use. But yes they are a problem for these engines. Thanks for watching!!

      @@paycheckmonster Thanks for the reply. I just installed a metal one i got off amazon. it already leaks, but extremely slow. It doesn't leave a pool of coolant on top of the trans. I think that when it gets worse, i'll re-do it and use silicone sealer like you suggested. I like the metal one because at least the housing wont' crack. Our Chrysler seems to be a pretty good car, so far the weak points are this T stat housing, and the TIPM crapped out.

    Went out the other day. I live in West Pa. Started it and it was making the noise this one was and was leaking some coolant down the ramp of the oil filter . It was actually running down I shut it down and ordered a water pump. That was 2 days ago. Went to the store yesterday and checked the pump. No sound anymore and it's not leaking???? Drove it to the store 7 miles, everything was good dial was almost to middle like usual..is the pump still failing and it had a good day or was it something else????? Jeep just empty every pocket lol

      It's not uncommon to have a water pump that doesn't seem to leak all the time. I've seen it the most with extreme temp changes. I just had to replace my wife's water pump on her 2014 Ford Escape. It wouldn't leak with engine warm but when it sat over night in the cold, it showed signs of coolant streaking. Good luck and thanks for watching!

      I know the feeling. It's no fun to work in cold conditions. My wife's car was leaking for about 2 weeks. Of coarse it took her a week to tell me she was smelling something like coolant. I made sure it had enough coolant in it and she drove very few miles to work until I could get it changed about a week later. Every situation is a little different though. Hope everything works out.

    Technically, if you are working on a properly timed car, you do not need either the special tools or loosening the cam bolt. The easiest way to do this is to mark the crank and the cam sprockets and count the belt teeth between your marks. Then take the tension off the belt, remove the old one and install the new one making sure that you still have the same number of teeth in between your marks. Apparently, the factory techs cannot count, so the OEM advises to use the special locking tools and re-adjusting the current timing, etc., and performing a lot of unnecessary steps, to play it safe :) Now, if the timing is already messed-up by a previous "handy" person, as in the above video, you do need the tools to re-time it.

    • @paycheckmonster

    • @paycheckmonster
      @paycheckmonster Місяць тому

      The pin that protrudes and makes contact with crank sets timing location. The flywheel is locked with a tool so you can remove the crank bolt. If you have the crank set so it's making contact with the pin and the cams locked the flywheel holding tool is irrelevant. Then you wouldn't need a machine shop. Thanks for watching!!

    • @paycheckmonster
      @paycheckmonster Місяць тому

      You shouldn't need to replace anything until you swap the known good parts from a good firing cylinder to the one that is misfiring. If you swapped the parts and still have a misfire, specially if it's making noise, then you'll have to perform a compression test and maybe a cylinder leak test. I can tell you that you probably have a collapsed lifter on the misfiring cylinder. If you can very a cylinder with low compression then your going to want to remove the valve cover on that bank and to see if any of the rocker arms are loose. Hope this helped. Thanks for watching!!

      They just wear out over time. It is a duty cycle controlled part and opens and closes several times. It's really amazing they last as long as they do.

    Did that kit move the front wheels out (increased track width)? Also, I assume those were 15” wheels and wonder if that car had a front sway bar? Nice video, it shows the frustration of dealing with a “universal kit”.

      The width was unchanged. I believe they were 15s. The sway bar I'm not sure about. It drives like it doesn't have one. She's kind off a floater driving down the road. Thanks for watching!!

    I have one right now on a guys 2013 Lincoln MKX that isn’t moving and has a B11E5 code. I can’t find one video that actually shows replacing the actuator which says to me it’s a pita.

      It would be very difficult to get a camera in there and try and get the screws out. Your right though, it is kind of a pain. Thanks for watching!!

      @@paycheckmonster Yep it was a pita, but I got it done. Been a mechanic for 51 years, I’m 68 now and still twisting wrenches. Carpel tunnel and arthritis in the thumbs makes things a little more difficult than they use to be.
