And now Im wondering just what kind of horrific mess you could do with renai transportation, imagine having resources being yeeted across those void spaces...
I just imagine the warp platform bends open the space between atoms above the factory floor to a size large enough for an entire rocket to pass through, just a freaky eldritch space warp going on above ground and a rocket passes up through the center of a refinery or something with no damage XD
trust me... playing warptorio feels the exact same way (or maybe thats because i couldnt get a base setup without the biters biting my everything. i also didnt reliaze what the warp floor did though... and those floors are essential to survival) oh neat i left a note here, how cool
You know, if you hold down the first mouse button and drag, electric polls will stay connected and space themselves out maximum distance while still giving power to everything you drag them over.
1:36:00 Yeah it’s pretty uncommon to see this. The main mod I can think of that does this is pyanodon's, where each tier of science changes the ratio (1, 2:1, 3:2:1, etc.) and makes you need to gradually ramp up your old science production to maintain the same level of research output.
"Recursive science" has a different idea on how to require more of the early sciences: each science pack requires all the previous ones in addition to normal ingredients.
I take comfort in knowing that I’m not alone in save-scumming in Factorio. Though I’ll say a tiny bit of it for me is that I played the game before there was even the option to respawn and going to a prior save was the only option
I love this video ! Even tho your voice can be hard to understand sometimes (you should put captions as someone else said), it also gives the video a charm. I'm also impressed on how you improved over the different parts of the video. Warptorio is very cool indeed. This is one of the only "overhaul" mod where you don't need to explain the actual base/tech planning, since it is straight up vanilla ! I really liked the way you "spoiled" us a bit on the warp upgrades along the way, as to let us know what to expect. I feel that warptorio could work with so much "vanilla-ish" mods. I am waiting with impatients for other videos from you ! Keep going because you rock !
One thing I really like about this mod is that you really don't have to worry about scaling, or even automating a lot of stuff. Once you have like maybe 200 assemblers, you don't need any more because you can't fit any more. And with modules, normally your base gets starved for circuits the instant you plug them up, but you can build them slow in this because you don't have that many buildings. It really changes the game completely. It's not like other overhaul mods, which largely keep the formula the same, and just add a bunch of new, more complicated recipes. The science here is basically vanilla, but so many practices that are beneficial in vanilla end up being unnecessary or even detrimental.
I have never understood feeding crude oil to flame turrets after you have advanced oil processing. Light oil is the one least often used so feeding it to the turrets lets you get rid of a small part of it while getting petrolium gass out of the crude you now refuned. Plus flame turrests do an extra 10% damage if fed with light oil.
41:18 hey, it's me, bitching again, but someone has to say this :P Setup were gun turrets takes down enemies simultaneoutsly with flamethrowers is also very resource- uneffective. Single FT consumes somewhere around 20 oil/ second making it most efficent defence in terms of resource-to-frags ratio. GTs should be placed in such way that only biters actually chewing your walls will be given lead pill to relax - possibly when burning. Would love to see your next approach applying said strategies as your narrative is oddly but very calming :)
Funnily enough the very late game in this mod has a very funny power solution that I absolutely adore. the nuclear waste makes enough uranium 238(I think) to make more nuclear fuel then it took to make that nuclear waste. It's hilarious but it is very late game. Another very useful thing added by this mod is the ammo damage upgrades, like the damage gunturrets do by the time you get laser turrets is... it made me cry putting it side by side. like in this video at the 1:24:12 mark the gun turret with yellow ammo does 25.3 damage per shot firing 11 shots per second that is 280 damage per second per gun turret at a cost of about 4 iron per second. The laser turret although "free" from cost only does 28 damage per shot but it only shoots 1.5 times per second for a damage per second of 42 per second. That is only 15% the damage output of a gun turret. There are a few other benefits to the laser turret like it's range and you can fit more of them closer together but it doesn't make up the shortfall in damage. doubling down on gun turrets is although costly in ammunition, worth it in my opinion. Great mod tho will recommend
Biters have no resistance to lasers, whereas they do to bullets, so in the end the damage of a laser ends up being a lot closer to the damage of a gun turret. Plus flame turrets are still doing the heavy lifting, guns and lasers are mostly there for cleanup.
i've never played Warptorio, but what vanilla and K2 learnt me is that the radar is your friend. This seems to be especially valid in Warptorio as single antena i every of outermost corners would significantly shorten time needed to make decision where to go to place mining platform. Same for roboports - even on alien biomes planet simple "gather rocks and trees in roboport's range" (placed on very same corners as radars) would increase your yield. Not to mention that combo of radar + roboport allows to you construct remotely whole mines, further squeezing last drops of given planet.
Steam storage plant is "useless" in vanilla? Bah I have found that it saves on our uranium consumption by a lot and allows more dedicated to weapons production. As a result, ALL my nuclear power plants always incorporates Steam storage, as a bonus it gives me nice handling of power peaks as well, so it is far from useless, but it costs more to establish.
I would have to wonder how much weaponry you need that the puny amounts of fuel for even a dozen reactors would cut into your production? There is really not much difference in having 4 or 5 chests full green ammo in stock.
Pyanodons is the only other mod I've seen take advantage of multiple different levels of science consumption for a singular research. And it is liberally used.
18:37 Go to your inventory, look to the right site of your inventory on the top corner. There you can see a blue putton, click on it. Then you can find in the middle Item distribute, there you deactivate the first checkmark and then it should fill everything to max.
Early on I put tonnes of pipes on the platform and pumped water into them. Combined with a boiler, steam engine and a few labs you get a nice buffer to keep researching.
Always enjoy your videos whether small or supercuts. Thank you very much for making entertaining and fun videos. With all thag said, when are you doing Rampant Warptorio 2?
32:43 - I can get through this accent decently enough, but at this point I couldn't help but laugh at how much I couldn't understand this. Great vid though, love a compression of warptorio game.
This video took long time to do so thanks. It must come as crazy, as non English native speaker myself, but I got the impression you tried to narrate it quietly, or that's how it ended up, this got compounded by your accent and constant flow, and as a result the voice came out as even, monotonous, and hard to follow (as video was fact paced).
great video but what kind of mic do u use? u can hear so many inconsistencies in the frequencies. Or if not a new mic, maybe give the Equalizer in your recording software something to do, that could fix that issue as well
Very interesting mod. As someone who plays a lot of modded minecraft, this definitely looks like something I want to try. One question though: do you have to defend the surface of the warp base? If your base is underground, biters cannot get to it, and you can enter and leave via the warp platforms.
There’s nothing particularly of value to defend on the warp platform, but the thing you have to understand is that if the biters can’t attack something there they will look elsewhere, and that elsewhere is likely going to be your mining platforms. Essentially, defending the warp platform is defending your miners.
@@ripecontext Biters on the platform will also get warped with you, so it could happen that you need to wai until they go away before starting exploring a planet.
Really wnjoying the watch. Notnsire why you are obsessed with getting every part of your handplaced mini mining bases and oil bases picked up. Automate production of poles, turrets, oil and ore mining... If you lose some yellow belts and poles, its such a minor resource expense compared to just your bullets!
39:55 this mining setup is far from optimal. As long as either side of your belt is stopped, you're wasting energy and invaluable time. Simple upgrade to red belts would make better use of mined resources. Also - placing turrets outmost of this orange tiles might be better strategy - they would be beaten by eventual spitters first, not the miners; considering HP of both entities your mining platform could stay longer unattended and just focus on harvesting.
This was interesting but could you try Space Exploration? It’s interesting to see good players try to hard mod and above all I love your editing style and ability to combine it into one video
If I did space exploration it most certainly could not be one video. I’d consider doing it in future but at this point it’s a tremendous amount of effort which I don’t know if I’d have the willpower to finish. This video represents about 40 hours of footage out of which I made 2 hours of video, whereas space exploration would probably take me somewhere in the region of 200 hours so a 10 hours video which whilst would probably be the most comprehensive single space exploration video would also take me months ( , :.
I'm only 21:03 far in the video... Edit: I only needed to wait a minute... Rest of the original comment follows ...but you can have machines hanging off the warp platform and, as long as one tile is on it, it'll be dragged with it. This means you can have miners hanging off, and literally intersecting any build around the internal platform, meaning more efficient use of the space. Although that may have been patched out since I played.
Why not put the furnaces in the arms to the harvesters instead so you can put the assemblers on the factory floor. There is space for two belts and inserters in the arms using underground belts
Have you tried warptorio2 logistics? Mining on uncharted planet with tons of resources (20+M per patch) while staying on unhabitated planet: island for an example. This way you come back to nauvis with almost zero pollution and maxed weapon damage/range.
Talking about weird ratios in research, I think you should try Nullius sometime. It's like Pyanodon's lite imo, not nearly as fiendishly difficult, but it still incorporates some of the mechanics.

Warptorio next?
Indeed.

"A watched miner never explodes", not only is that incredibly correct but the complete opposite is also true.
it just depends on how the biters are feeling that day lol

Hello, UA-cam randomly recommended this to me, and I'm glad it did! ;)

This was great thanks a lot ! But I'm a bit worried that the engineer couldn't leave the homeworld either !
someone should genuinely make a standalone game like this, so many cool ideas
I don't know why UA-cam suggested this video to me, but I'm glad it did.

Awesome series. Thank you!

So does this mod remove the radar? Seems like it could be easy to find what you need with them.
1:26:45 I thought it would've been using one of the pipes to pull steam from the main base to run turbines directly near pumpjacks
That’s another valid way of doing it, but does add another thing to pick up and put down whenever you have to move the oil outpost.
