    Great video Ryan! Beautiful runway 33 arrival and showing up on my old ramp. Glad to see Atlantic still gets the bowl game traffic.

      Edson, how are you? Great to hear from you!
      Man, I still miss you at that airport, and FBO. One of the greatest guys on the planet. Yeah, it was crazy to look at a tracker and see a B763 listed inbound. I rushed over there and was able to catch it.

      Doing well Ryan. I do miss BUR. Had a lot of fun there. We will have to catch up next time I am back in LA, living near IAH these days.

    That GE CF6-80 turbofan sure likes to "hum" a lot while power setting is at idle! What a great catch you got there!

      They sure do! I know it's not the same variant of the CF6, but there's still some classic DC-10 sound in there.

    Quite a large aircraft for BUR, but if I’m not mistaken, FedEx or UPS operates A300’s or A310’s into BUR

    • @Russell1971
      @Russell1971 5 років тому +1

      The A300 was a European equivalent and competitor to the 767 series. I used to see them all the time flying for the late Continental Airlines, up until 1995 when those models were retired by that carrier. Airbus A300's were known for using more runway than a 767 during takeoff.

    • @RyanBomar
      @RyanBomar  5 років тому

      BUR gets daily A300's. We used to get United 767-200's to ORD back in the 80's, but this is the first -300ER to land here. Don't forget, we had regular C-5 Galaxy's back in the day.

    Oh Wow I didn’t know 767’s can land at Burbank

    • @Russell1971
      @Russell1971 5 років тому +3

      Burbank's bigger runway is long enough, almost 7,000 feet long in fact (6,886 total), and the 767's engines are quite powerful.

    • @RyanBomar
      @RyanBomar  5 років тому +3

      We had passenger B762's to ORD back in the 80's, as well as daily freight A300's to this day. These aircraft have no issue with this size runway, unless you're looking to load her up to MTOW.

      I hear ya, @@RyanBomar! I once saw a Southwest 737-300 use about 2/3's of a 6,011ft by 100ft runway for takeoff, which was in use at Houston's Intercontinental back during the mid '90s (late 1994). It was like watching a Q400 taking off today, and such a move by Southwest made my entire day!

      Considering the range of the 767, this is probably a light load for it. I think most of the time runway weight capacity is more of an issue than length for this aircraft. Oddly enough, Burbank’s runways are short but can support heavy aircraft.

    The 767-300ER is quite a majestic bird.
    It definitely makes me sad knowing this model and the 757-200 series have been out of production for more than 10 years now, almost 15 years in fact. I don't care all that much for the newer Boeing wide-bodied jetliners. They're ugly, in my opinion. The only Boeing jetliner I still like these days is the ever-reliable 737 series.

    • @RyanBomar
      @RyanBomar  5 років тому

      Boeing sure can build a solid aircraft. Newer aircraft will never be as exciting as stuff once was, just like with cars. Compare a 1968 Dodge Charger to a new Prius, for example. The Prius may be one of the most efficient cars ever built, but it will never be as cool as a gas-guzzling muscle car.

      @delten-eleven1910 5 років тому +1

      I grew up with all of the jetliners that are now becoming rare or extinct; 3 engined and T-tails. Apart from the originals: 737, 757, 767 and even A300/A310 every new plane looks like the other, from RJs to wide bodies.

      @@delten-eleven1910 What hurts me is the end of MD-80 service coming up. That's the last true classic in my mind, originally built with steam gauges, thirsty & noisy JT8D's, character, and so on. The moment the last one is parked, the low-bypass engine will be a thing of the past in the states.

      Well the 767-300ER is still in production mainly as the 763F, Fed Ex has many on order. The 767-200 ER's frame is still in production for the US Air Force known as the KC-46 aerial refueler!
