First Ever Snow Day!

- Today was the first time during my time at the Naval Academy when it snowed! Class was cancelled and all that was left to do was play in the snow.
If you didn't know, my name is JC and I am currently a sophomore studying Robotics and Control Engineering at the US Naval Academy. I currently play Division 1 Water Polo at USNA and am looking into making new vlogs about my journey in college.

"1st snow day in our Academy career." And it won't be the last.
Winters have been milder in recent years in Annapolis. According to one faculty member, this was the first snow day in 6 years.

My Bro Class of ‘81 was there in storied. 1978 Washington Birthday Storm... Mids stranded all over D.C. for almost a week.. no classes ! Unheard of ! There were 10/12 foot drifts covering parts of Route 50. USNA was Alaska for more than awhile .

@JC I’m pleased to announced I have been watching your videos for a year now and despite all the complications I received my guaranteed offer of Appointment for Class of 2025 the only thing that is holding me back is my left ear. My left is 5 dbs out of range at one of the super high frequencies. I think it’s 4000Hz. Anyways I’m under waiver review for the Naval Academy. I also received a 4yr ROTC scholarship and it’s also under waiver reviewed. I’m mentally and physically tired and worried at this point and I was looking for any guidance you may have.

Just curious but why were the classes cancelled? All midshipmen live on campus so there's clearly not gonna be any driving issues.

Probably getting in. But school is almost just as hard

I would love to but the whole brigade has been in isolation for awhile and there's not much videos I can make at the moment. But definitely working on it.

what camera do you use to vlog?
I personally use the dji osmo pocket for more cinematic films and the gopro hero 8 for action shots.
Video idea: I was with my brother and he was on a zoom with his navy academy guy who was having a presentation about the Naval Academy. From what I believe I think that Junior or sophomore year during the summer go on a “ Cruise” that is basically just acting as if it was a real navy ship at sea. Maybe you can do a video on that when the time comes
How long until you become an officer?
I'll graduate in May 2023 and become an officer then.

I have messaged you before on one of your videos a long time ago. I have another question for you. So my friend wants to go to the naval academy but he wants his career to be a bio medical engineer. He does not want to serve in the navy but he has to stay for at least five years to serve. He said something about the benefits too. So I guess my question to you or anyone else that went here is what are the benefits and should he go?
If he needs to be convinced to attend the Academy for the benefits, I wouldn't recommend him coming here. Plebe summer will easily tell the detailers how much you want to be here. And if someone doesn't really want to be here, plebe summer will tear them apart.
@@navalaviation He said he wants to go because it’s free, they pay for everything, I get paid while I am doing it, I get more job opportunities and I serve the country.

I’m applying to SLE and NASS this year, and I have a question, if you took the CFA at West Point do you have to retake it at NASS? I’ve heard each retake totally overwrites the last, how did it work for you?
Yes. You have to retake it because admissions will want the test that was administered at their campus.
@@navalaviation will the different academies take the two different scores?
@@chloe3536 I remember one of the academies let me submit either score but the other was strict with only their assessment so it's in your best interest to take both. Both summer programs will force you to do both anyways. Think of it as 2 tries to get a good score.

Hi Jc I'm from Pa I'm in 8th grade I want to go to the academy for my political science degree and make my town and family proud of me do you have any advice for me if you can reply that would be awesome but I understand that you are probably busy so whenever you get a chance thank you and thanks for being on UA-cam cause you inspired me.
Thanks for the awesome note Jackson! I recommend you check out my "how to get in" video first and then I can answer any specific questions you have after. As an 8th grader there's not much you have to do to prepare besides getting good grades and staying acive in a sport or other activity.
