- Follow me into an exclusive look into what we midshimen do during our Summers. Every year, midshimen are required to take part in spending time aboard a naval vessel or aircraft in various parts of the world. This year, I got to travel to Norfolk Naval Station and train aboard the USS Forrest Sherman. PART II
If you didn't know, my name is Justin Chu and I am currently a sophomore studying Robotics and Control Engineering at the US Naval Academy. I currently play Division 1 Water Polo at USNA and am looking into making new vlogs about my journey in college.

I like your enthusiasm. The Navy has its ups and downs. Enjoy the positive experiences and learn from the bad ones. I've seen and done a lot over the past 22+ years. Based on your degree path, I would recommend EOD for your first choice. Since you are studying robotics. But I can also provide information about most of the other communities I've had experience with. To include Surface which you just got a look at, Subs, Aircraft Carriers, Nuclear Propulsion and Expeditionary which I am currently in for my last tour before retirement. Great and fun major. Learn a lot about coding in different languages and how to apply that to different systems. Lots of hands on projects

I can’t tell exactly but I think that’s an Arleigh Burke class destroyer or a Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser.

Is there civil engineering at the naval academy? Ik civil and environmental engineering has nothing to do with studies about the ocean the academy probably has, but I'm just curious?
No unfortuantely there is not. You can find a list of majors on the Academy website. There's a lot that may resemble that of envrionmental engineering.
