  • Is there such thing as fun at the Korean Naval Academy?! For 6 months, I was an exchange student at the Korean Naval Academy. South Korea's COVID policies were strict as ever and the Korean Brigade had no opportunity to leave the base. As a result, we made the most of our time inside and this video takes you through the things we did.
    If you didn't know, my name is Justin Chu and I am currently a junior studying Robotics and Control Engineering at the US Naval Academy. I currently play Division 1 Water Polo at USNA and am looking into making new vlogs about my journey in college.

    Former ROK Marine here. I had a chance to work with US Marines last year as a translator and one of their officers was a USNA graduate. She was such an elite and made me think how great all the curriculums and programs must be at the USNA. Also there was a corpsman, petty officer, who was an absolute chad with humor and wits. I loved every single US marine and sailor I met. I hope you successfully graduate from the Naval Academy and start your proud career as a Navy officer.

    Interesting, they play the same game we played in China 40 years ago, e.g. slapping the paper pancake and kicking the birdie. I am glad you get a chance to study. They are our strong ally in the region.

    hey I just heard about the naval academy. I am only thirteen, but I really want to go. I watched both your videos on how to get in, and even though it was a little bit confusing and it sounded very prestigious and hard, I am pretty much certain I am going to apply when I am old enough! Thank you for the videos and tips!

    Hi JC, I only discovered your video in my cue. I'm a military veteran but I was enlisted Army, and I sure wished that I could have went NAVY! I didn't know enough about the different branches Navy seems the best. I've seen other cadet vlogs but yours are the best! You've really inspired me in my life. These help me more than you know thank you for posting!

      Maybe quality of life as an officer is the best...Though your relations with enlisted and officer is by far the worse. No other branch has such a big divide between officer and enlisted privileges then the navy.

    I served in the ROK (84-85), (89-90) with the USAF and returned a couple of times for exercises. A couple of weeks ago, while on vacation in Vietnam, I met some ROK students (who had picked Yonsei University over UCLA) amd they thanked me for my service with the ROKAF (combined operatons). It brought good feelings and thoughts about how much the world has changed in 40 years. I assume that the music is K-POP (I have a 12 year old niece who is crazy about K-POP)

    I applied to the Naval Academy and unfortunately got a rejection letter. I’m gonna enlist and retry next year or do another commision program. I was fortunate enough to visit the academy during one of the Candidate Visitation Weekends and really enjoyed it. I hope to eventually walk those halls.

      That’s awesome man! Highly recommend going community college, getting good grades, and reapplying rather than enlisting if the Academy is your end goal. But who knows, theres other avenues to going officer after enlisting

    • @denavar9704
      @denavar9704 2 роки тому

      If you are enlisting go CTN or IT. Those two rates will easily set you up for the civilian world especially CTN. You get the experience needed in those cyber jobs which have high salaries. Of course if your duty bound then just use those jobs as a pathway into officer. If your main goal is to get a high salary then go those rates (again especially CTN).

    Hi JC, I wanted to ask what your advice is and what you think will happen. Currently a junior and I decided to take all college courses this year through my school's college credit program through nearby colleges. Unfortunately, I took a class that I really struggled in and dropped my unweighted GPA (3.82 to about a 3.6). Do I really have a chance for USNA academically anymore? I'm not exactly a star athlete, I've only lettered in football.

    • @korsairex35

      Also, do you have any recommendations as alternatives?

    • @GLCEndeavors
      @GLCEndeavors 2 роки тому

      Yes, the academy will see that it was one class that brought your GPA down. They look at everything not just the current number👍. GOOD LUCK.
